To the anxious souls waiting for the letters to come out, here's what I got from the Admissions Office just now:

We are hoping to send out decision letters in the next week or ten days.

It doesn't paint the admissions office in a good light when it fails multiple times to stick to a deadline.

Might as well just say you are going to announce in March.
 
I am pretty sure we will get a different response if a call was made. It isn't the admissions office fault per say; it's the inefficiency of the sub-committees that are throwing random deadlines to the staff of admissions...

Long time lurker, first-time poster! I just called admissions, they said that they will be sending letters out "within the next couple of weeks." I was also told that they will not be sending out waitlist letters until late Spring/early Summer and that the portal will change 5 days after the letter is sent. According to the woman I spoke with, no decisions at all have been sent out thus far.

But at least they apologized for the delay too! That's good, right?...

hmm I just called too and they said they'd update the portal as soon as they send out the letters "within the next couple of weeks.." ughh these mixed messages they keep sending us haha it's one thing to release decisions in February but it's a whole other thing to say January 15 and keep pushing that date back :beat:

absolutely, especially after this being my 3rd/4th cycle (depending on how you count it) - but when multiple people post on the forums about harassing the school for a decision, that is counterproductive for everyone. Every time they have to respond to someone's phone questions, it takes time away from dealing with applications. Patience is tough - for everyone. But that doesn't make it "OK". I have many schools I haven't heard a peep from since September either.

Totally feel you man. And everyone on SDN is always so quick to defend this system. When I was a high school senior, I applied early to one college, minimum money spent, and heard back in two months.
 
At least we know whatever decisions they make they have spent a lot of time talking about it... haha at least it's not all about scores and grades or else this would have been over a long time ago.

What a champ -- 3rd/4th cycle and you have an acceptance!! Awesome! Hell of a story. I'm a 3rd-time applicant myself and hope to be a success story too 😛

Just going to put it out there: I'm very wary of potential trolling here since not only have email admissions have not been used by DGSOM at all since Dr. Hall became Associate Dean of Admissions, but everyone we have contacted thus far specifically said snail mail only...

Well there are 2 people here and a 3rd on mdapplicants.com (thebeautifulstruggle) who have received this news via email.

I was skeptical of the email too because it went against everything that has been said on the forums and even at the interview. I specifically remember being told by Dr. Hall that we would receive hard copies in the mail. So I see why you would be skeptical.

Come on, man. seems a little bit much to demand proof. Dr. Hall did say a lucky few would find out earlier. It could easily just be that they sent the emails because they didn't want to let whatever is slowing down the process for everyone else, slow it down for these people they are going to try this hard to recruit. I doubt there is any trolling going on.
 
adding more evidence to the pile: I also got an acceptance/Geffen scholarship via a blank email with a letter attached. I checked here because I was so concerned that it was some sort of trick haha.

Super psyched :soexcited:
