Has anyone heard back from the financial aid office regarding the financial aid package? April 30th is approaching and I haven't heard anything

I was notified that I received the Founder's Scholarship two weeks ago. I know that at least one person at recruitment day had already received the Mission Award Scholarship.
Has anyone heard anything else? Any word on the Kaiser MERIT Scholarship?
I am sure you already know this, but April 30 is the date where you can only hold one acceptance and the rest of your acceptances you must withdraw from. Since the 30th was on a weekend, I think it is extended to the 2nd which is tomorrow. So after tomorrow you can only be "admitted" to one school. As a result, a lot of movement from the waiting list happens during the next couple of weeks. I know of a couple people that will drop from UCR, but for the most part at second look day a lot of people were pretty much committed. I also think that they send out money schoalrships to those that are shaky on their decision to choose UCR, so they can "keep them in" if you will.Any word on projected waitlist movement and/or approximately how many attended Second Look?
Didn't their class size expand to 60?I am sure you already know this, but April 30 is the date where you can only hold one acceptance and the rest of your acceptances you must withdraw from. Personally, I don't think as many people will get off the wait list nearly as much as other schools, but I do think it will happen to a select few!
Good luck to everyone waiting. I hope you get in if this is your top choice.
Edit: I forgot to mention that at second look day Schiller said they accepted more than 60 people, so not everyone that drops will cause a movement in the waitlist.
YepDidn't their class size expand to 60?
I think you are close to having the record if not already lol. Congrats!I interviewed on the very first date (9/12) and was just accepted earlier this week! To those of you who are still waiting to hear, don't give up hope yet 🙂
Sorry to hear about your result but I stand by my advice for the letter of intent/update letter. It is more than just Dr. Lytle that reads them and quite frankly anything and everything should be done if someone is that committed to getting in. Medical school applications is a test of grit - not what a LizzyM score correlates to. My score was significantly lower than yours and I had multiple MD acceptances whereas my friends with much higher ones did not. The difference? Grit. I flew to schools, took debt, met with admins, wrote letters upon letters, calls, etc. I understand you did everything you could and sometimes that is how it goes - you are going to be a doctor and that is great. Others I have advised had their letters submitted successfully and now they will be part of the 2020 class. Best of luck at your school and to everyone remember that the end is the same - physician.Tl;dr at the botttom.
Been following this forum hard core since the very beginning of this cycle. I even checked last years thread to see if "big events" match up. UCR seems to follow a general schedule that's the same every year.
I interviewed in Octoberish. I think I confided in this thread a little too much because when nobody got accepted in December on this thread, I felt better about me not getting accepted either. I was in denial that they are "behind schedule". I really regret depending on this forum for information. There simply wasn't enough of a sample size to predict happenings. I assumed since this year there were more people interveiwing more people would discuss on this thread. I am still a little surprises that this wasn't the case.
Anyways, I tried everything. I did a mock interview, prepared aggressively for the MMI, and then afterwards: sent a thank you letter, emailed an update/letter of intent (which Lytle outright said are NOT considered, just for your information. He explicitly said he does not read them. If needed I will literally screen shot the email. Current ucr med students saying that they help... Stahp. I spent so much time perfecting it and it got thrown back without even being looked at)
In general I was in denial the whole cycle. I should have known that I wasn't going to be accepted when i didn't hear back in December. ucr is huge on protecting their yield. They offer scholarships and other incentives for students to not drop. Thus wait list movement is on the lower end of schools of this size. I put too much faith in the wait list. The chances are so miniscule at that point but then again I wouldn't exactly describe myself as optimistic.
Anyways I called the admissions office yesterday. They have a couple of offers to non-ucr alumni that haven't been accepted by the applicant, so maybe some slight movement there. They have received acceptances to all offers for UCR seats which means the Haider program is done for this year. No more seats are empty.
It just goes to show. A Riverside native UCR alumni with tremendous ties to serving the inland empire throughout undergrad and long before that has a LizzyM of 70ish can still be rejected. I got accepted elsewhere meaning no red flags on my application and my LORs were good. Also out of 8 interviews this is will be my 2nd rejection so I don't think I'm bad at interviewing or the MMI. I was the only UCR alumni from my interview date to not be admitted. Why I didn't get in will remain a mystery but in a way it energizes me... I will work harder (for all you animal farm fans out there, lol) and I hope to turn this into a positive exoereince and to "redeem" myself which is my goal right now. Thank you to those that I spent time private messaging and helping me out. I appreciate it a lot. The non-ucr alumni entering the class seem to be really cool people. Good luck everyone!
Tl;dr Haider class is full. No more movement there. Might be a bit of movement for non alumni seats depending on if offers are accepted by applicants this week.

The dean of admissions has explicitly stated in no uncertain phrasing that letters of intent are not considered. I cannot, in good faith to those reading through this thread next cycle, let you say something that is not only unproven but on the contrary blatantly denied by those that actually handle admissions. You are entitled to an opinion, but you really should not be spreading hope that has no basis whatsoever. Other schools may be receptive. This school is not. Period. Earlier on in this thread someone else said the same thing and you still refuse to believe it is true. I do not know what else can be done to explain to you that you were misinformed.Sorry to hear about your result but I stand by my advice for the letter of intent/update letter. And who is our "Dean of Admissions"? That's right. There isn't an official one like you would see at other schools. What I don't want is a poster who essentially brags that they were fired from a scribing job, sulks that they didn't get interviews because they were entitled because of their LizzyM score and then thinks it should be a shoe in because they are a UCR alumni. Sorry but if you were rejected at other schools, been fired, and what i assume have a good application profile in terms of grades and scores, the problem isn't them. It is you. I am a student here, and have been for awhile. You are a premed pretending to know the inner workings at UCR SOM and I have met plenty of you. For those that I have advised for the letter, who turned them in, and who got in speaks for itself. Good luck at your school, for "I cannot, in good faith" let your trolling go unanswered. The dean of admissions has explicitly stated in no uncertain phrasing that letters of intent are not considered. And if you are still around at UCR, I would be more than happy to meet with you in person to clarify why you are wrong. Message me privately, as you already have in the past and we can make a meet up date.
Lol. Well you trying to help applicants is trying to take a personal experience and have that be the standard. Sorry but if you were not accepted, it means you didn't fit the mission. No need to be mad about it by trolling other students. I am not using personal attacks, it is actually characterizing behavior. It is used a lot in cross examinations. I am characterizing or more so putting into context why you would be posting the way you are.Wow. That escalated quickly. No need to be hostile bro... Take a deep breath. I use anectodal evidence. Not heresay. The reason I post is to help applicants like myself for next year. I am trying to pay it forward because seeing previous posts helped me a lot this year. I am not a troll and literally have 0 posts pretending to be. Just because I disagree with you and prove you wrong it doesn't mean you have to resort to personal attacks. Christian Lytle identifies as the Dean of Admissions and although i just searched it and found out it doesn't explicitly say it on the website, he intorduced himself as such during the interview. Plus if you email [email protected] he is the one that answers.
No thank you. I would not like to meet with you as I would prefer healthy discussion instead of flame wars.
It's a tough process not just here but everywhere to varying degrees. Keep working towards bettering application and hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Everyone forgets the second part and relies on the first part too much.Well that was a bit much ._.
I don't think Im76at711 is a troll.
Congrats on getting in elsewhere, I'm sure you'll be a great doctor.
Anyways, so if it is true that there's no more seats available for ucr alum then I think it's a bit insensitive that they are not sending out rejections to applicants they are absolutely not considering. This process is stressful for all involved (prospective students/faculty), just as we are required to notify schools that we aren't interested they too should have the decency to notify applicants so that they can move on.
Only one I heard of personally was U of Arizona Phoenix with the condition you didn't get in anywhere. Rather specific. Did you apply to Creighton? If so Jarmon (if he is still there) will review and give.you feedback during open hours (I think Thursdays) by phone. I had a friend do that and it was fantastic feedback. Also, does anyone know if institutions are receptive to requests for feedback. I tried asking UCR for some feedback on how to better myself as an applicant but they shut me down.

Not disagreeing. I think UCR needs a better system. But it seems mirroring UCLA and I don't know if that's coincidence or intentional. I know it's easier said than done but again constantly pushing normally ends up with rewards.I think all that goes without saying, yet everyone knows that's easier said than done especially when considering how important this is. It really is the least they could do to just tell those that are so far down on the wait list that they are rejected.

Received a phone call yesterday from Dean Lytle and I got the official acceptance letter this morning. It was my second time applying and interviewing at UCR. Unbelievably excited. To anyone still waiting, I wish you the best.
Not sure on what it is this year, but it seems previous years it was all electronic. You can always ask Tammy or Cheri or Julie (whichever you get ahold of first) on what happens. Can anyone shed light on how long it took accepted students to receive an information packet? Also is it an email or is it something they mail to your home?
Is there a UCR SOM '20 facebook page or something? Also, what are of you accepted students doing for living?
Does anyone know if the class is completely full now? Is there anymore hope for the waitlist? lol
Just got the rejection email.
