2015-2016 University of California - San Francisco Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi everyone, I have a basic question. The secondary says we need to submit at least 3 LORs. I submitted a pre-med committee packet from my home university, plus an additional letter from my current PI boss man. I believe the committee packet consists of just one letter from a pre-med advisor, in which he summarizes the rec letters submitted by 3 of my professors- so it's like a 3 in 1 deal. However, the committee letter is still just one letter. So my question: do you think the committee letter + additional letter from PI will meet the "at least 3" requirement?

Thanks

The committee packet should be fine. In most cases, that's the one most med programs ask for. I don't think you need to worry about this. If you are still concerned, call the office and discuss with them.

Thanks a lot. I think you're right.

I could go through this post and read it all, but if there is a soul out there who has already done so and can tell me stats of those on sdn who have received IIs, I would be forever grateful. Please exaggerate the number of underdog stories.

If I am lucky enough to receive II later, you can definitely add one more underdog story to the list🙂 Hope we both hear some good news from this fantastic program soon!

Rejected post-secondary just now, complete 7/12.

Damn Cawolf. I saw you and your score on my MCAT thread back in the day--I'm pretty sure they just feared you were too good for them. Sorry to hear it. On to the next.

Haha, that's the only good thing about my application! I am very fortunate to have some great acceptances already, so I will be OK. Do love SF though!

anyone who submitted in September gotten a secondary yet?
so paranoid I will miss it since they don't send the "primary received" email.

*cries* please me too UCSF.. i really wanna go here

I added in August and I didn't get it. Likely screen out IMO

Just got a secondary invitation. OOS, LizzyM~75, verified 8/27. A bit surprised to get this secondary, but get rejected pre-LOR request with Mayo. The application process makes little sense to me:shrug:.

Just got an II, my first California school. Pretty awesome to live 5 minutes away and not have to book a flight :soexcited:

I also got rejected pre-LOR from Mayo, so I'm right there with you.

For all of you who are still impatiently waiting for an II (myself included): Looking at last year's thread, it seems like there were a fair number of people who interviewed as late as January/February and got accepted as late as May! Not sure I can maintain sanity that long but nice to be reminded that this cycle is nowhere near over. 😎

Rejected Pre-Interview. I guess I won't be able to join my fellow gays in the Castro on nights of no studying.
OOS. LizzyM 75.
I guess they didn't want me to make fetch happen.
Good luck ladies! 😉

Just got the axe, pre interview, post secondary!

Really hoping to hear back soon. Ultimate dream school!

Rejected post secondary, complete in July if that helps. Good luck everyone else 🙂

Rejected post secondary. Good luck everyone!

Are the rejections coming via email or the portal? Was complete 8.17 and am expecting the axe as well.

Also rejected today, post-secondary & pre-interview. Complete sometime in July, IS, LizzyM in the 60's. It was a far reach for me but I was still hopeful. Best of luck to everyone on here!

Got secondary 10/29. Primary verified sometime early September.

II this weekend while I was in Vegas! Started tearing up while in line to check in at the hotel hahaha. This is my dream school!!!

IS, completed 8/20, LizzyM ~70. Applied PRIME.

Just a note, the earliest interview dates that I saw available were one day in January! However, I may be limited in date choices because I applied PRIME. 🙂

Rejected! Not surprised at all, and am just glad it's over with. Seems like each rejection gets easier... haha

Ah I'm sorry to hear that! With the quality of applicants they get, ucsf is used to being super selective. But alas, since this is SDN, I must ask lol. Complete date and LizzyM?

Complete 7/20 or something and LizzyM 69. I'm pretty sure my MCAT just isn't stellar enough. I knew it going in, but I'm honestly just happy they even gave me a secondary.

Oh thanks! Based on the other responses on this thread as well seems like UCSF is going far slower than other medical schools in terms of reviewing apps. Well that still keeps me hopeful! #1 choice.
