Forget burritos are start thinking about all of the dumplings to be had in the Sunset!!

Edit: but there is way better quick Mexican food way closer. No judgment, but there's a good reason San Francisco doesn't have many Chipotles imho.

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly. However, I'm from LA and the Mexican food is sooooo much cheaper here 🙁 so chipotle is a cheaper option.

My planned coursework for senior year has changed since submitting AMCAS and UCSF is asking to send an interim transcript update if courses have changed. Will this affect the acceptance offer if I've already fulfilled the prerequisites or is the planned coursework binding? Do I just email them and say "Hey, I rearranged my coursework. Here's my current schedule"?

I think you'll be fine. It's not binding unless it includes prerequisites as far as I know.

Got in! I could not believe the news, and I'm still in shock. There are a ton of more qualified applicants than me but I somehow got selected. I really wish all of you guys the best of luck this cycle.
Were you a mid-December interview?

And when and how did you find out?

I don't think I've ever been to a chipotle in SF, and there's a Starbucks on every block. There is no shortage of good, cheap food, or local small-batch coffee breweries in SF, and there are quite a few within the vicinity of the medical school.

Seriously. 9th and Irving is one of the best corners for food in SF. Arizmendi Bakery (AMAZING bread, pastries, and pizza), Marnee Thai, Art’s Cafe (hole in the wall heaven, Korean BBQ on hash browns, my god...), Nopalito, Lavash, etc, etc etc.

Not counting the hundreds of cafes better than Starbucks in close vicinity of where UCSF students usually live.

Wish I had a chance to interview here, maybe another life 🙂 congrats to all the lucky people who get to go here!

ok now that I've chilled out (a LITTLE BIT)... I interviewed 1/14, and just received the email about an hour ago!!

Alternate list. Interviewed late Jan. Super bummed... This was my first choice. Anyone know where I can find more info on what the alternative list means?

Aw, I'm sorry. But there is still hope. If I remember correctly, the alternate list is relatively small - there's something like a 50% chance of getting admitted before matriculation.

It's the same thing as the waitlist. The bright side is that UCSF's waitlist has great movement - myself and a handful of classmates that I know of were all waitlistees at this time last year, and here we are now! It's definitely a big disappointment, and a sucky wait, but there's still a definite chance that you could get an acceptance.

Congrats to those who have heard good news! Nervous that I haven't heard anything. I don't have a withdraw tab - is this normal? Do others have withdraw tabs on their portals?

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Hoping to be one of those lucky students who make it off the waitlist.

Sorry 🙁 was this post interview? If so, would you mind sharing when you interviewed and when you found out you were rejected?

Yes, it was post interview. I interviewed late January.

Funny thing, my first interviewer liked me so much and was so convinced I would get in, that we parted with her saying "see u April 22nd for second look!"

I guess my second interviewer was underwhelmed by my brand of awesomeness. :/

***sadness*** but I guess my destiny is elsewhere.

@sweetsunshine Ugh interviewers should never say things like that unless they are the ones making the final decision! Sorry for the rejection. I hope you end up at the right school for you!

Also, does anyone know how PRIME-US interviews worked in previous years? And when in the summer do the PRIME-US students begin?

I think interviewers have less weight than we think.... During my interview, my interviewer started crying out of nowhere because we were talking about cancer. I was not in an emotional state at all and his crying was VERY unexpected and it made my interview very awkward. I ended up getting waitlisted somehow (I thought a rejection for sure).

Yup. Dean of admissions told us explicitly on interview day that the interview has less weight at UCSF than at other schools.

Huh; they sure are taking their time. Has anyone who hasn't heard back reached out? If so, to whom (since we're discouraged from contacting interviewers)?

If we haven't heard anything (while other people have already been accepted/rejected/waitlisted from our same interview group... what does that mean? Are they unsure whether to reject us or waitlist us?

The interview packet has admission office contact info if I'm not mistaken.

Felt really at home here during my interview and I would be ecstatic if I were to be accepted!
What do y'all think/know about the new Bridges curriculum? Most of the students couldn't tell me much about how it will differ compared to the current curriculum and all I really heard about it from Dean Wofsky is that it involves taking Step 1 after year 3 core Clerkships (potentially in pretty close proximity to step 2 if you don't want to study for that during MS4) and a little more longitudinal clinical involvment during pre clerkship years. Is anyone a little nervous about not knowing much else?

There's quite a bit of ink spilled over Bridges on the website. But, granted, it's not super concrete and has some grandiose med-ed language like those things do.

My understanding is that the essential core curriculum (aka our basic science classes) is basically the same for the first two years, just re-ordered. Some of my classmates will be holding review sessions during your first ~3 blocks, so I imagine the content won't differ too much from what we learned this year, anyway.

Not to scare anyone....but is today finally the day for early Feb IA peeps? Has anyone heard anything?

6-8 weeks for decisions. Plenty of mid-Jan people haven't heard yet. I wouldn't count on yours coming today

FWIW, when I interviewed in late Feb, I believe Dean Wofsky said that we would hear back in 4-5 wks since they are trying to release decisions by April 1 or so. For early-mid Feb interviewees, I doubt it would be much longer than 6 weeks, but today is probably too early.

He told us 4-5 weeks, too.

does anyone know when they'll start accepting people off the alternate list? I was put on the list back in december and am unsure whether others have heard back who are also on the list! Also, has anyone from the alt list submitted a letter of intent/when is a good time do so? Thanks for your advice!!!

Anyone know the dates for orientation (not Second Look Weekend)?

Orientation is 8/1-8/7, with classes starting on 8/8. The schedule for the class of 2020 is here.

Last year, a few people were accepted off of the waitlist in mid-March (3/19 for me, to be exact), but this isn't always the case and so I can't guarantee that there will be some movement in March. Most of the movement typically occurs after traffic day (April 30), I believe. I didn't send any letters of intent/updates, so I can't give any advice there.

Early November interviewee checking in. @JessebenBenjamin I called and they said decisions should be released within the next couple of weeks. They said that because I applied to a dual degree program it takes longer for them to make a decision, so if you did, I guess sit tight. They also said that the decision would come via email (I was wondering because I'll probably be out of cell service for a little bit in the coming month).
