2015-2016 University of Connecticut Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You get asked why you want to be a doctor in the individual interviews

This was not true for me. The individual interview experience will vary depending on who you are being interviewed by.

Yeah you are right, it depends on who interviews you. Also do you guys know when we should expect to hear back. I interviewed 2 weeks ago and my status says that I have been in the committee stage for 2 weeks. I know the earliest you can hear back from any school is october 15, but do you know if UConn notifies all sepetember interviewees on that date. thanks

For those who have interviewed, what is your current status?

They do not hand out acceptances (or post-interview rejections?) until October 15th.

II here OOS a couple weeks-ish ago. Super excited, have lots of family in the area! LizzyM ~70, complete 7/15.

Good luck for those hearing back tommorow. Hopefully we all get good news.

Dental school isn't Med school. For instate, 215 out of 486 applicants were interviewed (44%) while for OOS, 146 out of 1976 were interviewed (7%). Conn applicants clearly get an advantage, its not a matter of only Conn students "choosing" to matriculate there. And OOS residents do get a tuition break.
What is your source for these statistics? I'd imagine that they offer fewer interviews to out of state applicants, but would also expect that there are more in-state applicants than out of state applicants. It's astonishing to me that there are nearly 4 times as many out of state applicants.

Sorry I know these is likely digging up an old comment

Got the acceptance email today (10:20AM). Interviewed 9/11, OOS

Portal status hasnt changed yet though

Just got the email! Accepted 10.15.15 OOS. Interviewed on 10.2.15

So we should be receiving a letter to our address which says how to accept the offer? Make sure to post if you get it so the rest of us can be on the lookout. Congrats to everyone

potentially. High up on the list since my state doesnt have a public medical school, so its really my only chance for a cheap education! And it helps that I loved the school and have heard only good things about it

Congrats to those who were accepted! I have not heard anything since my application was completed on 8/13. I have since started another job and would like to send an update letter. Has anyone sent an update letter to admissions yet? I'm not sure what the protocol is for UConn.

Has anyone's portal status been changed? Im eagerly awaiting my letter so it feels official to me!

Wait-listed 10/15. LizzyM 73.5. IS. I am very disasppointed, but hoping to have the opportunity to move off the list in the coming months!

dang I thought u pretty much guaranteed a seat, if I remember correctly you had a very high mcat. Maybe thats why they wait listed you.

How did ur interview go? Only asking cause I have interview coming up.

My MCAT is definitely not high enough to be considered above their threshold; I got a 34. I really loved the school and thought the interview went well. I guess there were a lot of qualified people applying. I was pretty bummed, still hoping for some waitlist movement towards the end of the cycle.

II today, 10/21! Interviewing on 11/13! Completed on 9/3, but had to wait for MCAT2015 scores to come out late September. IS, LizzyM of 75, one yr out of undergrad

Just reporting now, but I was accepted on 10/15 (interviewed 9/4)! This is my first choice, and I will definitely be attending next Fall! 🙂 I received the official letter this week.
Can any of your guys who are accepted log into your portal.

Congrats on the acceptance! I want to meet the incoming class, do you know how they make the fb group?

Anyone else hear about interviews?

Patiently waiting for 2 months (complete 9.5)....

Love me UCONN :biglove:

They admins from year 1 will make one this summer! I am dying to join, too. I asked them if I could help admin, I am sure you can as well!

during the interview they mentioned that we could send them any updates we've had since submitting amcas/secondary applications. if I've recently started a relevant volunteering position that I talked about in my interview and wasn't included/talked about in my primary or secondary apps, do you think I should send an update to the school? should I just write up a brief description of the activity, like something similar to what would be included on the activities section of the AMCAS? @Goro @gyngyn
