Does anyone know how often the adcom meets or when their next meeting might be? I interviewed 12/16, but still "decision pending" and hoping to get some good news soon
I wrote a long reply to this just put in wrong spot. So look a little down this page at Spriteling's post and you'll ase it Apparently there's a character limit so feel free to PM me if you have ANY questions or clarifications or anything in the reply if it didn't make sense.

Could have been for you. Although that is when they met so maybe there was a misunderstanding. Who knows? Where's the decision going? You IS?

Yep, suburbs of chicago. although if they sent it friday, it should have been here by now.

Hey congrats to you guys coming in with the good news!
I've been seeing posts worrying about the cbc email coming in for the longest time. There was this email I got way back in June about that, here's a section from it I hope will put you guys at ease. :cat:

"As you were notified in the AMCAS application, you have applied to at least one medical school that is participating in the AMCAS-facilitated Criminal Background Check Service, through which Certiphi Screening, Inc. (a Vertical Screen(R) Company) will procure a background report on applicants with certain types of admission actions.

Background checks will begin after January 1 for all conditionally accepted applicants, except for Early Decision Program (EDP) applicants. If you were conditionally accepted under the Early Decision Program, your background check will begin immediately upon your conditional acceptance.

If you are placed on a participating school's alternative list, that school may request that a background check be procured."

Yeah maybe/maybe not. Lot of mail coming in and out even though distance isn't much. If you don't get it tomorrow just call admissions and press zero at the main menu. That'll be Liz. She's great. She can tell you for sure when your letter was mailed out just gotta give her your AMCAS #

I was accepted in November. I live 30 minutes away and it took 5 business days lol so trust in the additional correspondence!

"Idk if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be. There is no coincidence in this world and everything happens for a reason. //crosses fingers for an acceptance elsewhere at least"
-One of the smartest things you'll ever hear
Believe that and carry that attitude and you can do anything.

You think the additional correspondence is enough to get excited about? I have it, but I'm very reserved until I see that fat packet sitting in my mailbox...

Guys keep in mind that when they send mail out it likely has to go through UIC's internal mail system first before it's sent out to the postal service

Ugh. We have a major release at work today, and it's super stressful. Only upside is that it's distracting me from waiting for that damn letter.

I got additional correspondence Friday morning (1/22) and I called that day and someone told me that my decision had already been mailed out... but I'm still waiting for the fat packet... Hoping to get it tomorrow

Where are you located? Are you IS?

Edit: I gave in and called and apparently my letter "might have been sent Wednesday". 🙁

I checked the USPS delivery estimator, and the wait for standard mail from UIC to any Chicago suburb is 3 days. Just a heads up.

Haha yeah I live in Chicago actually so I really thought it would have been here by now

Yeah. I'm in UC so I expect it'll take significantly longer than that.

Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this, but this map from usps says std mail to zip codes outside of 606xx take 5 business days in the Chicago land area :

Damn it! I was told it was mailed out Tuesday afternoon. It's coming to Urbana which is about 2.5 drive. I was really hopeful it would arrive tomorrow but that is starting to sound unlikely. And the more I look at that damn additional correspondence tab the more nervous and unsure I get. My neuroticism

Right there with you. In Urbana...I'm
Hoping tomorrow as kind of a longshot that it will arrive and if not am praying it comes Saturday. I critically doubt my ability in getting through the weekend with my sanity intact.

Anyone know exactly how number of business days are counted in regard to mail. For example lets say I send a letter on a Monday afternoon. I'm pretty sure that's not considered a business day. So then Tuesday goes by being the first full business day. Say Wednesday goes by and it bstill hasn't arrived. So now 2 business days. Let's say it arrives now on Thursday afternoon. So does that day it was actually deliverered count as a business day or would that mailing be considered to have taken 2 business days (Tues and Wed)?
I honestly don't even know if any of that made sense, I'm stressed and delerious so that may be a bunch of incoherent rambling. BUT, if anyone by a miracle actually understands what I'm asking or at least trying to ask and has some info, answers, or input, I would be eternally grateful!!!! Even this much your while $$$$$ no but seriously try to understand that and if you have ANY thoughts about it PLEASE reply!

Thanks so much!
-Hanging on by a dekeratatinized fingernail :/ 🙁

:/ I'm trying not to freak out about my letter being sent on Wednesday, rather than Friday/Tuesday. I'm worried it means that I got the "additional correspondence" tab by mistake, and that I've actually been rejected.

Seriously, this level of paranoia that I have is ridiculous. I need a chill pill.

Just got the fat packet!! The acceptance letter is dated 1/26 fyi. I got the additional correspondence tab 1/22.
Secondary complete 8/31, interviewed 12/16
Suburbs?

What date was the envelope postmarked, if you still have it?

Got a status change to Application in Process today =( Well on the positive side, I'm sure some of you will be getting IIs soon!

I interviewed here today. I think my interviews went very well, and I was really impressed with the school. The next committee meeting is Monday, February 8th, and they said we should hear around late February. 🙂

After 4 months I've moved from Applicant in Process to Application is in Process. I still don't understand the difference -___-

Does anyone know if there's a way to get them to send the admissions decision to our current address rather than our permanent address? Would rather get the news myself than have my parents get it lol.

Oh also, for anyone interviewing in the future, beware that they serve burritos for lunch so if you are gluten free, either bring your own lunch or prepare to starve. Haha.

Hi all, I haven't been on here in awhile. I got an interview invitation back in December and I'm interviewing next week.
When, approximately, will I hear back after the interview? I heard that the committee meets like the third Thursday of the month or something like that?

We had Potbelly. With sides. And cookies. 🙂

You'll probably hear back the same day as me (interviewed today). They told us the committee was meeting next Monday and we would hear in late February.

We had Corner Bakery at my interview...I guess not only is the application process and statuses a mystery but the lunch as well xD

Hahaha weird... They really go all out for lunch, then!

I can't remember who catered our lunch, but there were vegetarian and gluten free options!

Giordano's for us, but I was too nervous to eat since I was afternoon interviews
