2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have interviewed already. Still a bad sign?

From what has been posted here, it looks like a bad sign. DrMurad posted this awhile back showing what the correspondence 'tab' looks like.

Anyone else get UMed/GMed invites today? Podiatry schools emailed me yet again today, which is kinda the opposite of what I want.

I was accepted in November and submitted my FAFSA early February but have not heard back about financial aid or any scholarships. Is it necessary to activate your UIC account to get a response about financial aid or scholarships? I am asking because I only recently activated it...hoping I didn't shoot myself in the foot.

Also, to those receiving aid and scholarships, did you get an email notification/portal change/both?

If you activated your UIC portal, you should be able to look at your financial status. Just open the FINANCE tab within the portal and click on award letter.

I hadn't made my account yet and still received an email notification about my award

Does everyone get an award letter or is it only for scholarships?

I mean....Were you never awarded financial aid as an undergraduate? An award letter tells you how much you can receive in loans for your cost of attendance. You will receive this after completing FAFSA.

I think they were asking if award letters were sent to everyone, or just people who received scholarships...

Has anyone contacted admissions about what happens if you can't complete your hep b titer before July 1st because of the required time in between your last vaccination?

Since it's greater than 6 months for everyone, I assume they must be fine with you being in the middle of the series. Haven't actually spoken with them about it though.

Would anyone mind sharing their interview experience who interviewed in Peoria? Would be greatly appreciated.

It is very relaxed and unstressful. You will have a meeting about the curriculum to start the day while you eat your lunch they provided. Then you get on a shuttle bus to go to their hospital for an hour or so. After that you will have a short break followed by physicians in the area and student interviewers.

It should be 2 physicians interviewing one student. From what I noticed most were older and on the cusp of retirement. Overall, it was a short interview day and low stress. You will do great, best of luck

My status page hasn't been updated despite having interviewed last week (not at Decision pending). Should I call them?

I don't think you should. I was in weird status limbo for quite some time...Received a 'decision has been made' portal update with an 'additional correspondence tab' to boot this last Friday! Very excited to have some options this cycle!!!

Did anyone else get the email from Urbana telling us to read the before classes start thing? I looked through it and it said something about a Facebook page, but no luck finding it....

No, I didn't get that. When did you receive the email? And are you in the UPR track?

I'll be going to second look at Peoria

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile app

Ill reiterate - why don't you think I should? Would that be harmful to me?

Maybe you should contact student affairs to make sure they have the correct email?

The person who sent the email to us is Nora Few ([email protected]), the executive assistant dean of the Urbana campus.

She just sent us this website for us to view: https://www.med.illinois.edu/students/m1/incoming/
Well, I've gotten emails about second look and financial aid and stuff, so they have the right email for something at least. When did you guys get the email?

That email details information for Urbana people. If you are going to Chicago, I would assume that you will be receiving a different email.

I've been following this thread for a while and I know that spriteling is going to urbana next year lol. The email is from [email protected] and was sent at 10:10 AM. I'm currently assigned to rockford.

Hmm, I'll have to email someone about that. Thanks for the info though!

Interviewing at Chicago tomorrow and it looks pretty straightforward. Any quirks or specific tips?

Nope! Pretty straightforward interview day to be honest. Just be your best, professional self! Don't forget to smile and be light hearted as well. You got this!
