Are you an out of state student?Got the award letter, 90k approves in loans. My god. I thought they would give some sort of aid or scholarships, does anyone know how we could apply for scholarships?

Where did you hear this?GMED invites start to go out April 1st.
Yeah, I'm out of state. I remember that during the interview they said they would help somewhat. I would really hate to borrow so much money, it is in fact 100k per year. Are you an out of state student?

Also, would I be able to claim in state tuition after the first year?
This is correct.Unfortunately, no. Illinois is pretty strict with residency for tuition purposes. You have to live in the state and work while not being enrolled as a student for a year, I believe.
Where did you hear this?
I have similar stats to you and also didn't receive a scholarship. It may be that they are looking for other things (i.e. disadvantaged status, certain experiences) when they award scholarships. I applied for one small outside scholarship, but I won't find out if I got it for several months. It seems like you're kinda out of luck for this year, but no matter where you go, I would encourage you to look into outside scholarships for the next three years to help cut that cost. There is a ton of unclaimed aid money out there every year, especially if you have significant need according to FAFSA. Don't give up hope! Just be proactive and start searching by the end of 2016 so you don't miss any deadlines!Got mine today as well...in state 62k approved loans, all unsubsized. **** the state of Illinois. Does anyone here know about the summer prematriculation program? I saw it online and just wanted to know more about it. Thanks!
Seems like it's for disadvantaged and underrepresented applicants who lack the academic qualifications for regular admission. They are offered a spot in the program by the adcom and given a conditional acceptance. If they complete the program successfully then they are admitted to UIC. You can't apply directly to the program, they just select you out of the pool of applicants.

Thanks for the info! I hope I hear back from them soon!I work in the hospital with one of the GMED coordinators.
I submitted my acceptance of admission offer, deposit, and site placement form on 1-29 and received my site placement on 2-8.How long after submitting the acceptance papers did you hear about what campus you were assigned to? I'm really hoping for Chicago!
I'm in the same situation as you. Completed in August and applicant in process for several months as well. Here's to hoping that we get II's here.Called the other day since I have been submitted since first week of August... told me that a decision has yet to be made on my application even with being in process for several months. So I don't know if this is good or bad lol. I'm probably one of those thats right on the cusp and if they need more people for w/e reason i'll get an olive branch extended for an interview. Hope I get that olive branch though....would love to be so close to home and go to my in-state school
🙄Received my location assignment in the mail today--I was really hoping for Chicago, I got Urbana (M1) and Rockford (M2-M4). I will be spending the next few weeks researching the assigned locations. I have some tough decisions to make in the upcoming weeks--wishing for favorable news for those still waiting to hear back.
Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked but I've seen some different responses. Is UIC switching to P/F next year or are they keeping the H/P/F grading scheme?
Same question here. I interviewed late after the due date and was told that we can submit our application later...dunno how late was acceptable though.is April 15th the only day for UMed interviews?
Congrats! Do you remember when you applied? Also, did you send an email recently asking if you they are still interviewing for the program? I'm not sure if I should email them to indicate I am interestedUMed interview invite yesterday! So excited!

I sent this email to UMED "I interviewed today (3/30) for the University of Illinois College of Medicine on the Peoria campus. From my understanding the UMed interviews will be on April 15th. Since my acceptance or rejection for the College of Medicine probably will come after April 15th, will my application for UMed still be considered?"
They responded today with the statement "Yes, your application is still being considered."
Not really sure how much this helps though. I guess the real question is, are they interviewing after April 15 for those whose acceptance into the COM probably won't come until May.
How do they do it?In the letter/PDF they sent with my invite, they explained how they interview people for UMed that may not have even been accepted into the COM yet.
How do they do it?
ohh okay, I did totally read that wrong lol.Sorry, I can see how my wording could be misconstrued. Read it instead as "they explained THAT they interview people for UMed..."
No insider secrets here, haha.
I just got an email from someone named Tiffany Ford in the UMed program telling me to "see the attached document." But there was nothing attached. I replied saying so, but I was wondering, is this the same type of email you got for your UMed interview?UMed interview invite yesterday! So excited!

Has anyone not received their financial aid award yet, other than those recently admitted? I submitted my FAFSA the week of the March 2nd deadline so maybe that's the issue?
When did you receive your acceptance notification?
Dang man. Send them an email if you haven't received anything yet.
Have you checked the FAFSA website to verify that you submitted the application with the correct school code?
I would contact them. They had sent my financial aid letter to the wrong email for some reason.Yeah I probably should. Might be because I submitted a correction recently.

I just left a message at the number listed on the UMed contact info page online. Thanks for the info!Yup! And I received the same email sans attachment yesterday, so I called today and it was resent with the attachment. I'm no stranger to making that mistake.
