2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

Final decision and additional correspondence! Yay! Here's to hoping for the fat packet. Interviewed in Chicago on 11/23.

Does this mean a guaranteed acceptance? Has anyone ever had their status change to final decision made + additional correspondence and then gotten a rejection letter? #paranoid

Hi everyone. May be a dumb question, but does anyone know if we can check the status of our application online? I tried logging into my supplemental application and it won't let me view anything, as the application is now 'closed'.

No such thing as a dumb question! It's confusing because UIC has two separate portals, one for submitting the secondary and one for checking the status.

Here is the link to the status page: https://services.com.uic.edu/appstat/

For the additional correspondence do you mean the box next to "additional correspondence" or do you mean it will say it in the status?

pre-II rejection yesterday. I have been checking this thread every other day for past few months, now there is no need to that anymore. Don't know what to do in my spare time when I'm on my computer. Bye UIC 🙁

When were you complete? IS or OOS?

Status changed from "application is in process" to a denial. So application is in process is not a good status, I believe. A little sad, but I'm sure they have their reasons for the rejection. Good luck everyone. Uic is in a very vibrant and neat part of Chicago. Check out Pompeii and all the rest of the amazing Taylor st restaurants while going to school there.

Sorry to hear about that =( In process means that they are actively looking at your app and can lead to an II or rejection. Almost 5 months later, I'm still sitting in progress. I wish they would just hurry up....

This is gonna sound dumb, so does final "decision was made...correspondence in the mail" mean interview?

Anyone know when the are they going to send out more interview invites? Has anyone with a complete date past mid-Oct received one?
Completed mid-oct as well. It still reads "applicant in progress." I wish I could hear back already...

I was complete mid-November, currently "Applicant in Process," would love to get an interview invite but with my late app I'm trying to not to get my hopes up!

They don't review apps in order so completion date doesn't really matter here.

I guess I'm more so worried about them assuming I lack interest in the school, I sat on the app for three months before I decided to submit. Thanks for the info though!

Really? What do they review by then? Also, what's your source? Thanks.
Stats, residency, URM/vet status idk

No you're ahead of me and I applied in August. In progress means they haven't gotten to your app and in process means they are actively deciding whether to offer you an II or reject you

I've been in process since my file was complete in early November though
Hmmm that's only a month when you take into account the holidays. Perhaps they like you enough not to reject you but aren't sure whether to extend you an II either

I glanced at last year thread for a bit and somewhere it said the adcom meets every third Thursday, is that still true? I guess that's why there was some rejections going through this past weekend because the third thursday was 12/17. I've been a "applicant in progress" since med September blah, I guess I'll shall be waiting until the next third Thursday?

So has anyone had "Decision pending" and then gotten an acceptance letter? Hoping I magically slipped through the cracks somehow haha

I'm still decision pending too. When and where did you interview?

Also, someone earlier in this thread mentioned getting an acceptance packet despite their decision pending status, so I hope that's what's happening with us too lol.

Just finished my happy dance with the mailman! Fat packet is here! Got the additional correspondence tab last Thursday so I really appreciate the quick turnaround by UIC.

I can't believe I am going to be a doctor! Thank you to everyone, here on this thread and elsewhere on SDN, for all of the sage advice and support. I am confident everyone on here is going to do incredible things for the field of medicine and for the world.

Now to go get my hands on the closest margarita I can find! :claps:

Just got an email saying that I've been placed on hold and they'll get back to me in late April after they're done reviewing everyone (I interviewed 2 weeks ago in Chicago). Boooooooo

My portal still says decision pending, although I guess it's technically true.

No hold email but still decision pending since September...I am slowly getting paranoid that they have lost my application, especially since during my interview, one of my interviewers confessed that he was looking at the wrong person's application halfway through my interview (aka he was taking notes on another candidate's file while talking to me) ._____.

ACCEPTED! This is my first acceptance of the application season and this is the most exciting news ever. For all the people probably reading next year who want to neurotically look at dates (like I did) I send in my primary IS. Sent in my secondary 8/22 Interviewed 12/11 and was accepted 12/21

Ignore "I send in my primary"... too excited to correctly type.

My portal says "decision in process" but I didn't get a hold email yet, and i interviewed 12/10. Confused. Did anyone else get the hold email yet?

@lxlus Also received the hold email post-interview today. OOS, LizzyM 71, interviewed early Dec 🙁

The conditions of acceptance says you just need to earn Cs or better in your classes, right? It's been a rough semester for me and I have a class or two that could go either way. So at worst, I'd have 2 As, 1 B, and 2 Cs, and at best, I'd have 3 As and 2 Bs...

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting off hold? Got the email yesterday pretty bummed

I wonder what it means to be decision pending but not get that email.

Same here. I want to hope they've lost me because that maybe means I have a better chance of getting in, but that doesn't seem likely...

Same here. No hold email. I have tried calling them, and they have only said that if you are still on 'Decision Pending', you would be reviewed every meeting. I haven't yet seen anyone get off Decision Pending who was skipped over on their month though.

Well, glad I'm not the only 'decision pending' with no hold email. I was going to call to see what was up with that, but I guess you beat me to it! So I guess we're in limbo between getting a hold vs. a decision???
