According to that flow chart that somebody made last year, "decision pending" means that your file will be reviewed at the next committee meeting. I have heard of them emailing you to say that they are deferring the decision to a future meeting, but I have never heard of them just simply not contacting you. That's very strange.
I wouldn't say that it's a "silent rejection". Many schools re-evaluate candidates at each admissions meeting to see if they meet the standards for acceptance based on the group of students being currently evaluated. They could very well be holding onto students they are not yet certain on. Obviously the longer you wait the worse, but I think they also make final decisions on students they have decided not to accept post-interview.
If you're not good enough to be accepted now, but might be later, isn't that the definition of a waitlist? Why not just waitlist them instead of keeping them in purgatory?

So they can have an acceptance before May and not have to worry about reapplying or making plans to attend another school. If someone is good enough to be accepted over the very last person they offer an acceptance to they should not have to be placed on a waitlist.
I just called them and this time they told me to expect something in the mail by next week since the adcoms are meeting this week...I'm thinking at this point it's probably a thin envelope haaaa
Well if my decision was made this month then the adcoms must've already met this morning...meaning portal updates might be starting. I remember in October the updates started around noon so START CHECKING YOUR PORTALS LIKE CRAZY XD (I'm headed off to work now at the mental health hospital...probably the best place for me to be at this point LOL).
I interviewed in October and didn't get an acceptance until December so there is still hope!!

Mine changed yesterday to say a final decision was made. But something is wrong with my portal since I got my acceptance last month.
