David Bowie was #1. I'll be #3 if UIC doesn't get back to me soon.

WTF, is it like against the law to meet this week? Omg. I can't ****ing believe this. -____-Called and spoke to someone in the office. There was no meeting today. They are meeting next Thursday. I'm assuming because the multiple acceptance deadline is the 30th and by next Thursday they will have a better idea of how many spots are open. Idk just a guess

I don't know about UIC specifically but doubling a school's number of matriculants is the estimate I usually see.Does anyone know how many acceptances Uic normally gives out annually to get the final class?
But they probably have close to that number in all honesty. This seems to be their last wave of acceptances so they want to wait until after the April 30th deadline or close to it so they don't have to do more applicant reviews than they have to. SighI don't know about UIC specifically but doubling a school's number of matriculants is the estimate I usually see.
Thanks!I don't know about UIC specifically but doubling a school's number of matriculants is the estimate I usually see.
I think we still have a pretty good chance! If the average school normally offers double the number of seats.. we can say 500 acceptances just to be safe. There could be another 200-250 acceptances to go out! Lets try to stay positive! 🙂But they probably have close to that number in all honesty. Famous last words.I want your girlfriend to be my friend.
Oh honey, I'm not.Just found out that two of my colleagues decided they are going here because they didn't get into other schools or that they didn't like the others..which is depressing because they have the same background as me, and if I'm not wrong about the selection process for a student body, schools like to choose ppl of different backgrounds.
Sigh I think I'm just gonna feel like crap this entire week. How are you guys coping with this waiting?

I have been completely preoccupied with the launch of my popup shop (in 3.5 weeks eep!) and I have a plan B and C in case things don't work out this cycle. I can say that I have a complete peace of mind with whatever happens. God has sustained me throughout this whole cycle so I know I'm gonna be ok. Everything's gonna work out in due time 🙂Just found out that two of my colleagues decided they are going here because they didn't get into other schools or that they didn't like the others..which is depressing because they have the same background as me, and if I'm not wrong about the selection process for a student body, schools like to choose ppl of different backgrounds.

On another note, I'm in a very similar boat. I know a handful people who are going here because it's the only place they got into, one of which is among the most qualified people I've ever met and got rejected from 10+ schools post-interview. How? No idea. I know a girl who got in here; she lived in my dorm freshman and used to copy my homework only to get straight Cs. When I found out that she got in I felt real good about myself.

One is all you need! At this point I have a definitive preference ranking of the schools I interviewed at, but honestly at this point I would likely commit to the first one that lets me in to give people like me a better chance of getting accepted somewhere.U of I is the only place I got into. In fact, it was my only interview (I was offered one other, but had to turn it down). You guys got interviews, and you're not less qualified than anyone else. Don't give up hope, you haven't even been waitlisted yet. Even if you are, there's a lot of movement. Several people I spoke to at Second Look Day were probably going to end up at other schools.
In other news, I've spent my weekend (including Friday night) scrubbing baseboards and cupboards and bathrooms. Can my life get any less exciting?

Congrats on the acceptance! I guess I'll try scrubbing to just eat away at the time.U of I is the only place I got into. Ha! It really does leave you feeling productive. Downside is, no one compliments you/notices that you perfectly clean baseboards...I've been there. Group project freeloader guy got into a really good school. I feel like meritocracy is doing its work.
Congrats on the acceptance! I guess I'll try scrubbing to just eat away at the time.
I had the opposite experience. I didn't really like Peoria or the facilities and I'm not good at lying so I think it hurt me in my interview. Also, I just wanted to mention I was REALLY impressed with the facilities and faculty at Peoria. So those of you who don't get Chicago, don't worry if you end up at Peoria. It was amazing, and you definitely won't miss out on any clinical experiences.
A popup shop is a non-permanent store front--it's just as it sounds: a shop that shows up for some time in different locations. In my case, I'll be selling my art prints/merchandise at a convention next month and if I don't get an acceptance, then I will (hopefully) continue to travel to different conventions. It's always been a dream of mine and I figured I should do it while in my gap period! 🙂What kind of popup shop? Actually, what even is a popup shop?
1. RushJust out of curiosity, what are your rankings?
As someone who also went to 4 interviews and didn't land a straight-out acceptance, I can totally relate. What's worse is that I feel like my app is solid; it's probably just my interview skills that are probably the red flag so it's not like there's much that I can do to improve my app 🙁 As an introvert, I am definitely more of a doer than a talker so my interviews probably make me come across as a flat applicant.1. Rush
2. UIC
3. Rosalind Franklin
4. Western Michigan
I was equally impressed by both Rush and UIC, but I have tons of family history at Rush (very good family friend got a heart transplant there a few years back and our family has been involved with them for awhile because of that). I attend UIUC so obviously Illinois will always hold a very special place in my heart and I would get to go to medical school with a lot of people I already know and I'd get to stay in Champaign another year. Rosalind Franklin is quite expensive and it's location is not ideal but I absolutely loved the culture of it and think it would be a wonderful medical school. Western Michigan is new and one of my interviewers was a grade A tool. That being said, I would be absolutely thrilled to get into any of them. Going to four interviews without an acceptance hurts, I'm not gonna lie.
It blows royally. I know that applicants are not good judges of their interviews, but I still think that my interviews went well! I've gotten good feedback from the mock interviews at my school. In general, I'm a very gregarious person and I've never had issues talking to people. For the life of me, I just can't figure out what went wrong. As someone who also went to 4 interviews and didn't land a straight-out acceptance, I can totally relate. Which schools?Same, interviewed at 3. Da pain.
I have been praying to valhalla that the schools would rush on their decisions so that I won't have to stay in this unending idiotic coma that is waiting.Which schools?
PreachI'm going to sleep quite alright. I've gotten into 3 DO schools (original 5) who have been prompt and present during this entire application process. UIC has been a mess this entire cycle. Would I be upset that I didn't even get an interview from my home state? I guess, but it's not the end of the world and the way this application cycle for UIC has gone I'll survive and be very happy wherever I end up

The Illinois Marathon is this weekend coming up. I'm running the 5K Friday night and the Half Marathon Saturday. Running has literally kept me sane! Hopefully a positive portal update on Friday will make me kick ass during both races. I'm pumped.
But we'll have our fun little portal updatesWhat I'm wondering is, if they're really not meeting until next week, the 28th, there's no way it's true that we'll hear something in the mail by April 30th like someone said we would.
