so from my understanding, it's: app submitted -> under review -> small pool -> II ?

small pool-> ii is not definite, last year i got small pooled quickly and never got an II, then a friend of mine got small pooled, II 3 days later, and is now at UVM!

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Interviews are scheduled between mid-September and mid-March. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

Does this mean much and what are my chances of getting an interview ?

Submitted 07/22 and still not under preliminary review... Anyone else?

thanks for doing that analysis!

A friend of mine is an MS1 here and has nothing but good things to say thus far!

Because I had some spare time and reeeeally like data, I went spelunking for numbers. Of the 246 applicants who posted in last year's UVM thread, 152 were small-pooled, and 106 of the folks in the small pool were interviewed.

Moral of the story: a lot of people drown in the small pool, but it's still better to be in it than out of it.

That's dedication

Received my II a couple weeks after getting pooled. Chances are you'll get one too.

Not sure when I was small pooled, just checked the portal now, complete around 7/17. Not too much of a blow, by some miracle I have 4 IIs right now so I'm a happy camper. Hoping for a chance to interview here, though!

I still have the option of editing my secondary after submission (submitted last night)..is this normal?

Submitted 7/27, still at the "your supplemental application has been received. Please note that it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed" stage. A little nerve racking but as long as everyone else who has submitted then is still in this phase, then it still is a fair process.

I've been at that since 7/19!

Same here, submitted 07/22! I wouldn't worry about it. They probably got a lot of apps in the first half of July that they're still wading through.

Im having trouble seeing the status of Vermont, do they give you a confirmation after you submitted and paid for your secondary?

Is everyone who applies here eventually small pooled?

Idk, submitted secondary two weeks ago, and I checked yesterday and was small pooled...based on previous posts not everyone gets small pooled...

Not everyone gets small pooled but everyone gets reviewed. If you're not in the small pool, your status should still change to note that your file has been reviewed....?

My file went from reviewed to small pooled about a week after so that isn't necessarily true. There's still hope.

Which part isn't true?

Are you saying that people will have a status that remains "Your supplemental application has been received. Please note that it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed; at certain times of the year, it may take as many as 10-12 weeks. You should continue to periodically check on the status of your file through the Online Applicant Center. We appreciate your patience!" for the entire cycle?

I would think that they would update students to let them know if they've been reviewed or not, rather than waiting to be reviewed all year. They have to review everyone's application at one point and unless they do silent rejections, your status should change to let you know that your file has been looked at.

Secondary completed 8/4. Been under preliminary review for almost two weeks. I'm IS, do I need to have my IS documentation in before they will send an interview? The person in charge of the IS Status Applications told me that it wouldn't hold up my application, but to get it in as soon as possible. However, I see the EVMS may require it before your app is complete if your IS.

I got an interview invite and haven't filled out the IS paperwork yet.
Nevermind, I guess this answers my question. I'm still trying to get some documents from my parents, but hopefully I can submit it in the next couple days.

II! For Sat. 9/26, however, I am unsure of whether or not I will attend. I'm from the DC area, and if I don't want to be on a train or bus for 12-15 hours each way getting up there, I can fly. But, the cheapest flight lands at midnight the night before the interview, and gives me an overnight layover on the way back. Flights at reasonable times are close to $500. Worth it? I have 5 other IIs scheduled as well, so trying to not miss so much school and break the bank with travel.

I think that is a question only you can answer- can you see yourself at UVM? If so, I think the extra money is worth it in the long run! If not, it opens up a spot for one of us : )

Congrats! If you have the cash then another interview is another shot at a medical school acceptance and is always good practice for other interviews. I would go, because you never know what can happen. Maybe you'll fall in love with school/area. You can always study on the plane/train/bus, you only go through this process once! (hopefully)

Mind sharing your stats/complete date?

Please go. Until you have an official acceptance, you are still a pre-med. What happens if you don't go and do not get accepted to the other 5 schools (and it is possible)? I certainly would regret such a decision.

Try us airways! Flying was worth it and I flew out of DCA with a small layover in Philadelphia. Stay with a student host and see if you can persuade them into providing transport to/from the airport to reduce costs as much as possible
