I have no idea what you mean by that, but I am interested to know? I've never been to Burlington...

Mehc012's making a tongue-in-cheek comment given the geographical location of Vermont (very NE) and the fact that Southwest conveniently (for the sake of the joke) doesn't fly out there 😉

I mean, I wouldn't exactly call it a coincidence that their hub and routes focus on the same area of the country that they chose to name their company after. :shrug: Likewise (though on a larger scale), it's hardly coincidental that American Airlines, while it does make some flights from the US to other countries and back, doesn't really have any between foreign airports.
 
I read over the past two years of UVM threads and here is what I found:
- For those who are interviewed, you have around a 36% chance of receiving an acceptance during the cycle.
- For 2013-14, they initially waitlisted a lot of OOS applicants before giving them an acceptance. However, in the 14-15 cycle, posters said that the admissions committee planned to change their process of accepting OOS applicants by being more upfront and direct with admitting OOS applicants (not automatically putting them on the waitlist).
- Seems like there maybe two tiers to the waitlist: Qualified WL and Regular WL.
- Significant movement occurs in April and May when OOS applicants who've been accepted give up their spot because of the above average OOS tuition cost.

Don't know how long I've been small pooled for. Just realized this wasn't what the portal says for everyone from reading this thread...
Have people getting II's been mostly IS?

There have been a substantial amount of OOS applicants receiving II's.

Data: MSAR says UVM had 87 IS applicants last year. So far this year there were two interview days in September, and sounds like four coming up that they've already sent invites for. There were 72 people at my interview day. So if this year's IS applicant pool is the same as last year's, and if every IS applicant has already been invited to interview, and if every interview day has 72 applicants, then 80% of the people who've received invites would be OOS applicants.

(Can you tell I'm really antsy for them to start releasing decisions on Thursday? 😉)

There was also 1 interview day in August.

72 people ??!
 
72 people at each interview would leave only like 8 interview dates for the cycle. Considering they've already scheduled 7 interview dates and haven't even scored my application yet, which was submitted in July, I'm choosing to not believe this lol.

I think we had sixty-something people at my interview date. Maybe the later ones will be smaller?

I'm also very curious to know if there is a large increase in apps this year (multiple schools have reported this) and if they're increasing slots to accommodate. (Or the flip side and just sticking within range)

I'm pretty sure it's against AAMC regulations to exceed the class size that a medical school was accredited for. I have heard that AAMC fines schools on a per student basis for going over their class size.

How med schools over-accept and then widdle it down to the proper class size is crazy. Definitely some goro black magic going on.
 
Right right, I meant more in terms of II's. I agree on their black magic skills!
 
Anybody know if acceptance information will be sent out via email tomorrow or will it only be available on the portal?

Sorry for being MIA, but classes have been busy!
Likes: The other students/faculty. There isn't a competitive atmosphere here and everyone hangs out.
Dislikes: None really, if I had to chose a medical school all over again, this would be it!
 
Small pooled today! Honestly thought they'd forgotten about me, esp since I'm OOS lol 😛
