2015-2016 University of Vermont Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations on all the recent acceptances! UVM is a great school and I have enjoyed it thus far.

I believe they typically have a four week turnaround time (for me, I interviewed 10/25 and heard back on 11.19, but this all depends on if they get through the entire interview group or not.

Anyone have any luck with the student host program? If so, about how long before the interview did you find out you had a host?

Has anyone submitted 11/12 weeks ago and still not gone under review?
ya me too. I logged in and was surprised to see still not under review....actually it might (only) has been 9 - 10 wks for me...

same... week 10 but getting there. i haven't tried contacting them yet but i might give them a call soon, sigh
I sent an email after ~8 weeks without being under review, and they basically just said "keep checking the portal." So I think they really just received a lot of apps early/ have some nonlinear review process that is really frustrating.

Hey do these guys accept pre-interview updates? I've scoured the website but have found nothing. And it's an update, not interest letter. If so, is it via portal? To the dean?

They sure do! Make sure it's a PDF attachment and send it to the general med admissions email!

Submitted August 18... no status change yet. At least it seems like there are a lot of people in the same boat!

I was wondering this as well....Have an interview next week and haven't heard anything yet.

The last call for med students to sign up to host interviewees on 10/31 was yesterday. I think the ones who run the student hosting program typically shoot for notifying of a "match" whenever someone signs up OR 10 days before the interview date.

Anyone know how likely it is you'll get an II if you are small pooled?

Hopefully us 9/26 folks will hear back soon! Anyone from that date heard?

Just got small pooled today! Do people receive II without being small pooled making this sort of like a pre-interview waitlist? Or is this just the process?

And congrats to all of those who have received acceptances!

Preliminary review -> small pooled or not small pooled -> from small pool you may receive an interview, but it is not a guarantee

When were you complete???

Is this the small pool status: You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended ?

My status changed to this, but I was just complete on 10/13

I am referring to when I submitted my application and they changed my status saying everything is received.

I've been under preliminary review (not small pooled) for nearly 13 weeks now... my status still says review should take "6-8 weeks." Silent rejections? 🙁

Ditto, might be even longer for me on this end. It'd be nice to hear some movement.

Does anyone that has interviewed already wish to share any insight? I've got mine on 10/31 and just trying to prepare as much as possible!

No good way to prepare for an MMI really, and they make you sign a non-disclosure agreement. Best thing to do is just relax and do your best, they're not trying to ask you complicated questions that will trip you up, they just want to see how you think!

That being said, if you're staying in Burlington for Halloween, go check out the Magic Hat sponsored halloween party at Echo!

Hey folks! I am deciding whether to submit a secondary (I know... late, huh?). I don't know much about UVM but love the area and get the feeling I might find some kindred spirits in the hills of Vermont. I couldn't get much of a sense for UVM's personality, or identity if you will, from the website. Would anyone who's more familiar with the school be willing to share what they like about it and what they see as its strengths? If so, 1,000,000 SDN cool points.
