If you didn't have the status quoted above (about being on hold for possible acceptance) before today, that's a safe assumption, yes.
 
Randomly got the "Second Status" last week.. I've only been under review for 4-1/2/5 months.
 
Has anyone received this status update?

"The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview, you will be notified by e-mail in March."

What does this mean?

This status pops up often in this thread...even on this last page. A search will give you a more comprehensive view, but basically it means exactly what it says. It is the second most promising status update people receive after initial evaluation, though people have received IIs with all of the possible statuses.

It means you might get an interview, but you might not. Which sounds sassy but it's true. People have recently received IIs with that status but there are also people who haven't.

I got that status today too. I think it's the 3rd status out of the 4, so if I had to guess, the odds of getting an interview with the 3rd status this late in the cycle are not good... 🙁

No need to read 60 pages...just search "This thread only" for some specific word/wording from that status, and you'll get an entire list of posts about that, which will be more reliable than one person's answer anyway.

The answer being, basically, that you might get an interview, other people with that status have gotten interviews, but you are not the highest priority candidate.

It's the 3rd priority status. There are 5 priority statuses, with 1 being II and 5 being rejected. Not sure what your chances are, but I have had 3rd status since the end of december and haven't heard anything. A couple people with 2nd priority status have gotten II recently it seems. If I haven't received any of the "May" status, does this mean my application hasn't been reviewed? Or does it mean I been passed over? It has been silence since I submitted my secondary back in September.

I've never heard it described that way. There are 4 priority statuses, which you generally get before being offered an II (or rejected). A person from any status may receive an II, but of course priority 1 folks are more likely than priority 2, then 3, then 4.

An II isn't one of the statuses, it's just an II.
 
I interviewed back in the fall and have not heard back yet. I called the office of admissions to see if any rejections were going out post interview or if everyone was on hold to be rejected at a later set date. Basically to see if it was possible to rejected just not being notified yet. The woman I spoke with said that rejections were going out post interview and if I had not heard yet then I wasn't rejected and still in the running. Has anyone heard of post interview rejections or have any further insight on this?

Have you been put on hold yet or is your status still on the interview survey? Because if you are on hold then you won't be rejected unless you don't make the waitlist.

I've had the hold message (the one that says hold for possible acceptance on these dates x,y,z..) for two months
 
Ok, it's February, and I have yet to be reviewed. Complete in July.

Then your fine and didn't get rejected post interview. They won't reject people post interview again until they start forming the waitlist in March I believe.
 
Not sure if accepted students are even monitoring this page anymore... But has anyone heard of any resources for the accepted students to get in contact?? Another school I was accepted to has a facebook page for students to talk and find roommates, etc. All the VCU app page has is a link to the orientation materials from last year that says it will be updated for us in March... Also any insider knowledge on a second look day??

Your profile is currently being reviewed by the Sub-Committee. This review will determine whether or not your profile will be forwarded for File Review. You may check your status online at any point during this process.

Your M.D. file is now complete. The Sub-Committee will now do a review of your application. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile.

Hiiiii I'm an accepted student as well and will be defo going here! As far as contact etc, MCV hasn't provided any of that. Someone needs to make a fb group, but no one has yet loll. Do you have FB? Wanna connect? Yas las be frenzzzz

Yes, that happens frequently with VCU, it seems to mean that people are accessing/possibly reviewing your file. So, progress, but trust me, not a very robust indicator (my reviewer took ages after checking me out) and not helpful for predicting what they will eventually say.

Agree with previous posters, if you're on hold you haven't been rejected. They don't reject until the end after they send out waitlist invites, so one more acceptance date to wait for. I interviewed back in October so it's been a painful few months over here 😛
 
I visited a bunch of apartments today, but it's really hard to decide on something without knowing about a roommate! It would be amazing if someone made a page, so we could get talking and start meeting people. I don't want to move in with a complete stranger...
 
OK people, stop waiting for someone else to make a facebook page and just make one & post the link. Someone has to just DO it. I would, but I'm not actually in the Class of 2020, so...
 
Once accepted, we have to pay a deposit within two weeks. Is there a final date by which we can withdraw our acceptance if accepted at another school? I'm a little confused. Can anyone with more info PM me? Thank you!!

You can hold multiple acceptances until April 15th I think. The deposit is refundable so go ahead and pay it!
 
By april 30 you get your deposit back.

By May 15 is the true deadline, but then you won't get money back
 
Just a heads up guys. I never got an email about the secondary, and I never got an email about a status update. I probably check my status once a week, so I got this in the past week. I would log in for those who did not hear back.
 
I'm trying to make a facebook group but apparently I can't make a group with only one person in it, so I need at least one other student to add me on facebook!! If you have been accepted send me a message with your name and I'll find you on facebook. Once I have the group set up I'll post the link and everyone can join!
