That's a bummer. I've called VCU a few times and they've generally been pretty nice...

Just curious, are you guys OOS or IS? Personally, I'm OOS and I'm wondering if they give IS preference (as far as which applications they look at first).

I'm OOS, verified 7/11 and received secondary on 7/21
 
Anyone have their class chronology jumbled?
Ex: S2 2009-2010 would be spring 2010, but on the prereq list it would appear as spring 2009

Sorry, I meant for people who received II's. I submitted my OOS secondary on 7/13 and haven't even gotten the ~your application is under review email that some other people are getting who submitted later.
 
I have this on my portal....

"The file review done by the Committee has determined that you are engaged in coursework which may affect their decision about whether to invite you for an interview. It is imperative that you submit grades for current or proposed courses in a timely fashion. Any file on hold for grades that are not submitted by January 31st will automatically be rejected. If you did not take the course indicated on your primary or supplemental application, please notify us immediately."

Does anyone know the best way to submit updates on courses??? I would call and ask, but it is closed and now the weekend.

This is the status I had within a day of submitting the secondary-
"Your M.D. file is now complete. The Sub-Committee will now do a review of your application. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile"

If you don't have that then it may be a good time to contact them. I didn't receive an email though I had to check the portal

Yeah it's been on my portal, but nothing via email. Their system seems pretty glitchy
 
So, I never got an email stating that I received a secondary, but I logged onto the portal yesterday (after finding out that some people did get secondaries but never was sent an email) and it turns out my secondary was "sent" on 7/2. I'm about to submit it, but I'm just wondering if its a good idea to call them or something, because I don't want it to seem like I wasn't interested in VCU and that's why my secondary was sent "late."

Maybe I'm just being too neurotic about this!

You weren't the only one who had this problem. If you scroll up a few pages, you will see that VCU was having issues with sending out emails to people who got secondaries. You're not alone. It looks like VCU is having a lot of tech problems this cycle. They even forgot to change their prompt for some people early on this month.

This happened to me too and I did call them about it...they did not care at all lol.
 
Well, here's hoping for a positive status update. My last two updates have come on Monday evenings around 6 pm EST
 
I got the update about being interested in candidacy but may not be able to interview all at my priority score. .. I wonder how many in this group don't get an II?

I've had it for a few weeks now. Doesn't seem as promising as it otherwise suggests
 
No status update yet for me 🙁. Hopefully I get some good news soon.
 
Did this happen to anyone else? I got a status update email but my status hasn't actually been updated. It still says my file is under review...

If I ever not got any login info for the portal, meaning VCU never got my secondary, should I call in about it by now? I was verified the 21st of July
 
Hey, i'm getting conflicting information regarding which letters are required. One the website it just says a minimum of 3, no requirements. However, on the "file status" of the secondary portal it says two science and one non-science. What are you guys doing?

When in doubt, go with the more stringent requirements.
 
Finally logged into the portal and got a message saying that I have been granted a supplemental application! It said that I was "on hold for MCAT's" for weeks.

Your profile is currently being reviewed by the Sub-Committee. This review will determine whether or not your profile will be forwarded for File Review. You may check your status online at any point during this process.

Do you know if everyone has to go through a sub-committee then file review? I've seen different wordings in this thread and it's making me feel like my application is hanging on by a thread...OOS no ties 😕

What? Did I finally lose my mind? Or did they change nothing and tell me something changed?

I'm pretty sure everyone goes subcommittee first to determine if you're even qualified. I've heard (and not sure if true) but 30-45% of applicants are blatantly noncompetitive, which inevitably wastes the adcoms' time.. So having an initial screen beyond the prelim screen saves time, energy, and their brains I'm sure

The sub-committee kind of screens your app, and the ones it finds promising get forwarded to the full committee to review and decide whether to invite or not

Haha. That's pretty much what I do on a daily basis anyway. Refreshing my mailbox and status portal... LOL.

II received 07/31! I was complete 07/20. LizzyM is ~65, IS, and I completed their graduate post-bacc program. I'm scheduled for 09/09, but I might be rescheduling since I have a guaranteed interview that's supposed to be scheduled earlier in September that I haven't even received info about yet. Once that's straightened out, I'll let you guys know in case anyone wants my slot on 09/09 😛

Secondary received today. OOS, LizzyM 66-67 verified AMCAS app 7/29.

Is it true about the screening for secondaries being a relatively big deal for VCU? Anyone have stats for portion of people who get II's post secondary screening? (if they do in fact screen out a significant amount of people that is..)
 
Is it just me, or is the character count allotted for the reapplication update ridiculously small? (150 characters) It's basically one sentence.

"VOLUNTEERINGCLASSESCLINICEXPERIENCEANDOTHERIMPORTANTTHINGSPLEASEDONTJUDGEMYRUNONSENTENCE"
