So I've had the "on hold" update for a while now. My status didn't change, and it says on my portal message that they formulate the WL at the end of March. I could have sworn that I heard on my interview day that you hear about a WL/reject decision a few days or a week after today. Here's to hoping that us "on hold" applicants get a shot!

The new MSAR list # taken from waitlist for some school. VCU reported 75 taken and more come off the OOS waitlist than IS (they don't give an exact breakdown, but estimate maybe 40-50 OOS)

So I received an email from the dean of admissions two weeks ago basically saying that I would be accepted in the next round. I have not heard anything tonight which makes me think they didn't come out, but I guess they could have changed their minds about my status. But my thought is they haven't been sent out. Good luck to everyone!

If one person got in already, doesn't that mean all the people who are accepted have already received an email as well? Or is it updated on an individual basis?

Official word is that they have gone out, but they aren't going through to most people.

Historically it's been an all or nothing deal. However, based on uvafan's claim, and the fact that also historically "On Hold" portal updates have been sent out the day before official announcements, and only one person (OOS) has posted anything so far, I think it's safe to conclude...THAT I'M LOSING MY FRICKIN' MIND OVER THIS :-D

Would be so much nicer if they also sent out, or updated via website, a notice declaring "Everything has been sent out." But that would go against the code of stressing us out as much as possible -_-

If uvafan256 got an e-mail from the dean of admissions, doesn't it stand to reason that she would've e-mailed all accepted applicants (so those of us who haven't received an e-mail haven't been accepted)?

I think it's probable that the rest of the acceptances went out also and the rest of us will be waiting for the official axe or wait list invite now.

The ONLY reason why I am holding on to the slightest bit of hope is this quote from portal on the December 16th date:

"Offers all in by 8pm tonight 12/16, you may see them right away or it may be after 6pm on 12/17. If you do not see a change in your status by tomorrow evening an offer was not extended to you at this time. Please direct questions to: [email protected]."

If I get nothing tomorrow, then I'll begin my allotted 24 hours of moping. 😛

I'm assuming the rejections will go out later this month, they form their wait list at the end of March.

At first it felt like being in-state was advantageous for admission here...now it seems as though it works against you if your application ends up on the waitlist, since acceptances given to in-state applicants are held onto more tightly. After all this time, facing another two weeks of wondering and waiting feels brutal...but no matter what we will all get some much needed closure about where we stand with vcu going forward. Stay strong everybody.

My advice to anyone is to let these times fuel you and work your tail - you will get it eventually if you devote everything to this dream. I didn't get in my first time and I was rejected this cycle from places too. Schools notice when someone is willing to go the distance

alright so definitely bummed to be stuck waiting another half a month to find out the final decision....waiting almost 3 months has already been unbearable....also definitely confused about being invited to the second look event when I'm not even in yet, does everyone on the waitlist get invited?....(sorry moping a bit here).

I have a publication coming out and want to send an update but this is probably pointless until finding out if I made the waitlist or not?

sorry, spoke ahead of myself...kinda assumed that I would end up on the waitlist given their invitation, since March 16th has come and passed and I haven't yet received an acceptance from them but seems contrary to me to invite a student to a second look if you plan to reject....unless vcu takes pleasure in prolonging and then crushing hopes haha in which case.....

yeah, checked multiple times at this point but still no changes there, still "on hold". I'll probably cave in and call soon because it doesn't make sense to be invited to a second look without an acceptance but eh...maybe it's like you'll get in soon enough. who knows? the whole admissions process is a waiting game.

Will be withdrawing - liked the school but my interviewer seemed against me from the start (not in a stress interview way, I've had a few of those elsewhere) and I've got multiple other offers 🙂 best of luck everybody!
