I was proven wrong (see above), which is reassuring. I had a similar experience as @panda16 in that a Yale pre-med student told me this themselves, but looks like that was incorrect or a lie. Sorry for any confusion I caused!!
 
@Bae_md93 There were definitely spots left for 2/15 (which I selected), but unfortunately I think the dates available to me were more limited because I applied MD/PhD... I wouldn't be surprised if there were more spots in February for MD, but I'm not much help on what they are. Good luck!!

Every elite undergrad thinks/wants their med school interviews all of their own undergrads. Even Princeton people think this 😉

Whenever you get your tax information, do it ASAP. For me that means mid January.

He probably means unexpected because it's so late... usually even when admission isn't rolling, interviews are, and many July applicants hear about interviews between September and November.
 
Can the last two II recipients share their stats please?
 
Either of you recent II recipients send in a recent update/LOI or something similar?

Late answer, so I apologize if it's not applicable anymore, but the tour is completely inside during the winter. For the interviewers, it's totally dependent. Some interviewers interview in the Admissions Office. Some do not. My site was probably about a 5 minute walk last year, but you could walk partially through the hospital for it.
 
Under your letter of recommendation status, what type of letter does it say you sent in? Mine says "Advisor" when I sent a committee letter... is this correct?

Yes. Why are you worrying about this now? If there were a problem they would've contacted you. If you've been complete then you're complete.
 
Help! I'm interviewing here tomorrow but they haven't told me where/what building I should show up to! Can anyone who has interviewed already or is interviewed here please tell me the building and possibly the room I need to show up to at 8:30 tomorrow?

You should show up to the Medical School Admissions office located in Edward S. Harkness Memorial Hall D (address is 367 Cedar Street). Once you enter the building, take the elevators to the second floor. Good luck on your interview!

No problem at all. Unfortunately I don't remember the room number/directions to the admissions office from the elevator, but once you get to the second floor you will be able to find someone to direct you. Again, good luck tommorow.

Everyone's totally correct here. Be sure to walk over to Cedar Street since it's by far the easiest way to get to Harkness. There are two Harkness buildings, so you'll want to go into the taller one. (It'll have a playground in front of it to the right.) The elevators are straight ahead from the main door. They're right in that you take the elevators up to the second floor, left out of the elevator, walk VERY briefly (like 2 steps), then right. Once you're on the second floor, you can't get lost.

If you see someone who is around Harkness, they will probably know where medical student interviewees are supposed to go. (If you ask for directions on the street, you might want to specify that you're a medical school interviewee since we also have residency interviews going on intermittently.)

Also, how common is it for interviews to go way over their time limit? 2x 30 minute interviews went for an hour

Both my interviews went for 1 hour 15 minutes. My first would have gone on for even longer if I hadn't had to rush out and hurry like hell to my next interview, which began more than 15 minutes late. So you're fine.

Yeah, both of my interviews here were quite lengthy, one was 45 minutes and the other was 1 hour.

Not a current student but most students either fly into Hartford (Bradley International Airport) and take a taxi/car service to Yale, or fly into NYC (Laguardia, JFK) and take the train to New Haven. There is a Yale shuttle that picks up at the train station. The New Haven airport is tiny and, as you said, expensive 😛

For posterity: there are deals to be had! I found a flight from CA all the way to New Haven airport for less that $200. Was shocked.
