2016-2017 Louisiana State University - New Orleans Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Called in and was told I was complete. I received my secondary before my primary was processed so I had the e-mail saying they got my secondary and check back in July but my AMCAS did not transmit until 8/10.

Good luck everyone. I am an alumnus from 2012. I highly recommend lsuno of course. I am sure more recent alumni can better answer questions but I will answer any that I can. Be persistent, you will be a doctor.

Just got an email saying I was complete. Mailed back at the end of July.

If I didn't get an ED II today does that mean I'm rolled over to RD?

I applied ED last year. They will let you know via snail mail that you are rolled into RD.

I appreciate the GIF--but are you saying no, not true?

Nah I believe you totally especially since that sounds like the type of thing LSU would do. But since I was one of the ED that was complete since July 1st but had to call them to find out that they left me incomplete until today, I am re-enacting whats in the gif. It's me hoping you're wrong even though it truly is just self-denial.

So you never received the "complete" email? What was missing?

Nothing was. I didn't find it appropriate to drill them about what happened to make them suddenly find my application and confirm complete, but I'll take as a lesson to call sooner and be content that it only costed me rolling into RD. It just means I can collect more work/lab experiences to share to them.

Silver lining I guess. I sent my LOR via snail mail and I can't get anyone over there to confirm that they received them all and that they are all on file.

Yup I was tortured by that tedious process. Hope you have your letter writer on speed dial just in case. I suggested my writers upload the LORS, but I had old professors who didn't trust me (or technology) and didn't want to click on links nor register so it took a week for one LOR in snail mail to get there too. I hope yours make it, but maybe for peace of mind suggest your writer to upload one to AMCAS or send another?

@TulaneUnderdog and @Jbro329--I hope it gets better for you two! With yalls stats, both of you should make it in.

To make yall feel better, last year, as an ED applicant, I asked Ms. P how many ED applicants there were in total, she replied "XXXXXXXXXXX", I *naively* thought maybe I wasn't clear, so I resent the same question worded differently, and then proceeded to call thinking we could hash out the confusion over the phone...she of course told me on the phone she can't answer that which is why she sent the X's. Talk about digging yourself into a hole.

My letter writers uploaded them all to AMCAS. I sent a copy to New Orleans today.

RD/IS applicant with 3.84 GPA and 511 MCAT, received email saying application was complete on 8/17. Judging from the rest of the this thread RD II maybe haven't been sent out yet, but starting to worry just a little bit about not hearing anything about an II. Looking back at previous years' threads, I saw a lot of RD people who received completion emails and then II the very next day. :nailbiting:

Also, is it possible that my getting the secondary turned in about a month after receiving it is hurting me? I submitted the primary in June and received secondary invite June 24, but was studying for the July 8 MCAT and didn't start thinking about the secondary until after I recovered from the MCAT. Only after then did I learn about some unspoken rule that submitting secondaries after 2 weeks sends a message that you're not motivated/interested.

In all honesty, I want to be Tiger more than anything.

(And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm being full-on neurotic right now, considering there's no evidence any RD applicants have gotten II regardless of their completion date, but don't judge me too much!)

The fact that you acknowledge you're being neurotic warrants a reply..after all, you're on SDN 🙂 I haven't heard of that rule and honestly wouldn't worry about it being that it is LSU. That may be the cause at places like Harvard Med and what not but I think with your stats, it shouldn't be an issue. Also, it seems like the "complete" emails are a little delayed. I called and was told I was complete almost two weeks before receiving the complete e-mail. Hope this helps!

As you can probably tell from the number of my SDN posts (I believe this will only be my 3rd), I've tried very hard to avoid this entire realm for sake of my sanity. But just a simple, reassuring response like yours has actually done wonders to provide me some peace of mind, so thank you 🙂. I could be wrong but just from perusing this thread I'm assuming you're a reapplicant, in which case I'm wishing the best of luck to you and maybe we just might be classmates in the near future!

Hey folks, I'm a current LSU HSC student. If there's something about the school I can answer for you, feel free to PM me.

Congrats on the interviews! Are y'all all IS?

Thanks guys! I'm OOS with strong ties to LA (both undergrad and grad there) so you definitely eased my worries for now 🙂 congrats again!!

Just curious for those of you who already scheduled your interviews, did they tell you that they wanted you to come on a specific day? I was told that they wanted me there on a Wednesday, and I'm wondering if that happened for everyone? Just thought it was interesting haha

I haven't received an interview invite and I also have not been released from ED. Is anyone else in a similar situation?
Yea I am in the same situation. I met with Dr. Eubanks in July and asked if he recommended me applying ED and he said he recommended me do ED, so I did. No word yet so I called today. She told me that my file had been reviewed and she couldn't tell me anything else, she said wait for an email or snail mail. I think she knew a decision but did not let me know. I'm not sure what to take from it.

Similar situation. Dr.Eubanks also advised I apply EDP. Emailed them today and was told the same thing. I would like to know so I can apply to other schools if that is necessary.

This is true I would like to apply to other schools if they will not be interviewing me for ED so I just called and this time spoke to Paula. She is always very short and always seems aggravated. She told me that my file has not been looked at and that no applicant files have been looked at by the committee and no one was give Interview invites yet. I know that the people on SDN wouldn't be making that up so basically she lied and said no applicants received interview invites. That's very frustrating.

OOS, no ties with LA, ecstatic, RD.

Email of completion received Aug. 24.

Interview invite received Aug. 30.

They told me Monday.

Does anyone have any idea of what the interview is like? Also, the likelihood of acceptances for this round?

I've also picked up on that from them. They told me I'm under active review and will get an email or snail mail.

I was told they wanted me there on a Monday. Didn't think anything of it until I read your post and now I'm thinking it's interesting as well haha.

Just spoke to someone else there and she said that they did send out interview invites and that after September 1 they will start sending out emails letting people know they are released from ED. Now I'm really confused and don't know what to think about it. Dr Eubanks made me feel like I definitely should apply ED and that I would get an interview invite for ED. This is my second time applying and I hate waiting for an email haha. Eubanks felt strong about my ED chances being I have now completed the 32 hour masters with a 4.0 and 2 courses with medical students (medical biochemistry and medical physiology) finishing in the top 3 in both classes. I also added over 3000 hours of clinical/patient time. I felt I would at least get an ED invite. I wonder if they have stopped sending out ED invites being RD applicants are getting IIs.

I am confused as well. Eubanks seemed to imply that it would be a good idea to apply ED for me as well.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Its such a tedious process dealing with adcoms. The emails they send back seem so cryptic and vague. I guess that is just because they aren't allowed to tell us anything.

"If you know where you want to go, ED is a good option".

I was asked which Monday I wanted.

Did anyone else who got an interview not get a confirmation email? I was told that she'd send a confirmation email with the date, time, and location after our phone call.
