2016-2017 Tulane University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So I recently got a new phone, but I forgot to add my school email to it. I do today, and I see a huge load of emails. I scroll down a bit and see that I got a Tulane II yesterday! Feels great! Interview is in mid-November though.

For reference, MCAT 510, GPA 3.65.

Ah that must've been amazing! congrats!!
If you don't mind me asking, when were you complete?

Congrats! What time were you considered complete on Tulane's portal?

Does anyone know how high the post-interview acceptances are here? It seems a little higher than others. MSAR just gives # of matriculants

I was actually looking this up. post interview acceptance rates look pretty good (roughly 70% for OOS), depending on the validity of this website:

Edit - My mistake, idk why I was thinking "OOS" while looking at the numbers, its actually all applicants, and it's closer to 63% chance of admission after interview. Sorry!

So if I was complete 7/10 does that mean I was passed over? I'm seeing that people who submitted after me are receiving II

Oh God complete 7/14.... nothing yet. I'm feeling a rejection coming on.

Rejected. Complete 7/7, LizzyM 69. It was my first notification and I really like Tulane so I was super bummed, but I got my first II yesterday so that eased the blow a little...

People who got II's or rejections:

How long was the checkmark green before you heard back?

For me it was at least a week, probably closer to two, but I don't remember exactly when I noticed it was green

just got the green checkmark. Complete 7/22!

Yes, and still have red ! I wish there was a way to call the admissions office.

So I called the admissions office yesterday because I couldn't look at that freaking red mark anymore without knowing. And she just said it is just because it hasn't gotten to the screener yet. She said that it is not telling of anything other than someone has not had the time to look at it yet. Don't worry, it'll be green soon enough.

Thanks so much for doing that! Haha I'm slowly learning to be okay with people submitting weeks after me finding out decisions when mine hasn't even been looked at.

Hey y'all, apologize if this has already been asked, but I just added this school and was wondering how to fill out the question "Are you currently working or have worked for one of the following organizations?" (Americorps, Teach for America, Peace Corps). I'm starting an AmeriCorps position in two weeks, so technically I am not working there yet. Should I just wait to submit the application until I have already started or should I mark yes and explain that I start in two weeks? I want to let them know about my commitment but I don't want to answer the question incorrectly.

Anyone know if u can take CASPER exam before sending your primary application to any school ? Waiting on my MCAT before submitting my AMCAS

Yes they're completely independent. And you should submit your primary. Schools will know you are taking the MCAT and hold off on reviewing your application, but it's best to have it in and verified.

Yay finally! Lol mine is still ! , submitted 7/17. I can't keep checking anymore...

I have checked it an unhealthy amount of times haha. I am so proud of myself today for only checking once

Edit: Aah the green check mark! Guess that means no more checking!

my exclamation mark next to "in progress" is red, what is mean? Do I miss something?

Changed to the green checkmark today, complete 7/22. Not exactly a scientific sample, but the posts here don't seem to indicate much of a correlation between numbers and II invite despite their supposed interview screening focus on academic record. Ah the mysteries of the app process.

There is something to be said for Tulane's efficiency though. Seems pretty systematic.

Late to the party but submitted secondary. Reaaaally hoping for an interview and the chance to visit New Orleans.

First rejection, LizzyM ~74, complete around 7/10. Sad, very interested in this school! And scheduled to take Casper tomorrow.... Oh well!

Are most people getting interviews without having taken CASPer first?

Rejected. Lizzy M=72. Completed 7/12. Oh well, I already have interviews from several top 40s so can't be too upset.
