Post-interview rejection just now. Was hoping to stay in sac and not have to sell the house and move away from family. Obviously Davis doesn't care about that but it just sucks..

Sorry to hear this. Any idea what might have gone wrong during your interview?

Same, rejected post-interview, interviewed in August. Tough because I thought the interview went REALLY well and I had a great time. UGH they really had me checking my phone constantly for awhile. Luckily I got an acceptance elsewhere but I really wanted to get into Davis and stay close to home. It's strange because I thought the MMI at the school where I was accepted did not go well at all... Oh well, that's med school admissions for you, what can you do. I'll count my blessings.

That's a great attitude. Congratulations on your other acceptance.

Super confused too.. rejected pre-secondary MCAT:516 sGPA: 3.81 cGPA:3.85 in state CA resident... I wasn't verified until 9/9 so maybe that had something to do with it?

Also a pre-secondary rejection, and I taught in the UC system...I think they really look at the experiences you've had and they are looking for people that fit their mission statement through these experiences. I don't think it has to do with when you are verified, try not to be too discouraged I'm sure you'll have some other big things coming your way and your stats show that you are a strong applicant so don't let this get you down!

has anyone else who interviewed in August/Sept still not heard anything?

EDIT: Waitlisted just now. Interviewed in August. OOS.

I think this school really looks at your experience. I'm an OOS application with stats lot lower than people that were screened out, but I received a secondary invite.

agreed. i think they look for very specific things in an applicant. as to what they are who knows

If anyone's interested, I had economically disadvantaged app, talked at length about community service , and expressed a strong interested in peds (primary care) in my app. If you're not interested in those things that's totally fine, I think it's important to go to a school where you would fit in well. If rural/primary care aren't your thing, nothing wrong with that, plenty of other schools aren't into that either. Best of luck, CA buddies!

Damn. This was my 1st interview of the season. Really liked this school. WLed via email

That's horrible. It must be extremely frustrating. If you don't mind my asking, are you interested in primary care/ serving the underserved?

Yeah, I grew up in a rural farming town, interested in practicing internal medicine or psych. Was hoping to stay in sac for school, residency, and practice to work with the mien community. I love sac and don't want to leave. Oh well, I guess we can always come back.

I wonder if they made all the calls from 10/7. Really eager to hear back! Emotional rollercoaster.

Does anyone know anything about student hosting here and how I request one? I am interviewing mid november

Did my interview today and got a look at the school. My suspicions have been confirmed. UC Davis is my dream school. Great atmosphere, facilities, faculty, and loved talking w/ the other students! All I can say w/o giving any confidential information away is to not worry too much going into the interview and to have fun. Good luck!

I believe someone posted early in the thread that an email is sent out about a week before you're interview date. My interview is on the same day so maybe we'll run into each other. Are you in Group A or B?

I will PM you!! Thanks for the insight though!

Submitted secondary late august. Still haven't heard anything back yet. I am CA resident and interested in primary care (my activities also reflect that). However, I have no ties to the area since I have lived in SoCal my entire life. Does anyone know what the chances are to get II if you don't have any connection to the area?

I got one and live in a rural area of the midwest, so don't give up hope yet!

For those that interviewed:
- Are we allowed to bring the prompt into the room or do we leave it at the door?
- Will there be follow up questions asked? Or do we just talk for 7 minutes alone?

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to prepare for the teamwork and role playing stations?

Are the station types split pretty evenly? So 3-4 one-on-one, role play, and team work stations each?

- No, but there will be a prompt inside the room to remind you if you forget.
- Possibly
- Tips: be authentic, practice if you are awkward, empathize!
- they will tell you all about the stations when you get there

Has anyone received an interview or post secondary rejection recently?

So in the email Davis sent out to the interviewees, it said 110 out of 500 applicants are accepted while 100 are waitlisted. From everywhere else I have read, I thought the acceptance rate was around 40% with waitlist, however I'm assuming it's got to be less than that because for it to be ~ 40%, that means nearly all of the 110 initially accepted students would have to deny their admissions offer. Does that seem reasonable?

Does anybody have any insight to how much waitlist movement Davis had last year?

My friends who go to UC-Davis do say that a large portion of their class was waitlisted.
