2016-2017 University of Vermont Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
+1 in the pool on 9/7 latest. Could've been earlier, I didn't check the portal for a bit since I was expecting a 6-8 week response. Completed 8/11.

The small pool isn't all it's cracked up to be. It turned out that my letters did not meet their requirements (my letters are great everywhere else)...and I was still small pooled (for approximately 1 month) before receiving the notification regarding my letters. So obviously, you can be small pooled without even meeting the application requirements.

I am happy with my cycle thus far, so no big deal🙂.

Best of luck to everyone else!
Do you mind sharing which letter didn't meet their LOR requirements? I'm wondering if one of my letters will count as a science letter..

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months."

How much of a chance is getting an interview from this status? also, for those who were pooled how long after did u hear back for an interview?

Been pooled for a long time now. I don't know what I can say about chances, other than it is not a rejection, so they are still interested. I am not reading any more into it than that.

So is everyone pooled? Or do they outright reject people and not pool them

I don't think anyone in this thread has been outright rejected. Not confident that the "pool" means anything more than being on hold.

i think in order to get an II you have to get into the pool first

Interviewing on Wednesday. Should I bring a notebook or anything?

Just got rescued from the small pool (II) lol

I can't make the date which I have been scheduled for (9/24).

Curious about the other dates available you guys are interviewing?
Honestly I'd trade with you. I'm trying to schedule around a wedding.

II! So excited! First II- I found my physician mentor after work and he gave me a hug we were both so excited!!

IS. LizzyM 65. All documents submitted July 27? But had to explain differing letters, so I think I was officially complete on August 9.
So since you're IS, would you mind if I ask you for some Vermont-specific info? I've looked at the website and I think I'm going to ask to stay with a student so lodging should be ok, I'm just curious the best way to get from the airport to the school. The website lists so many options, but I wanted to know if you have any insight.

What airport are you flying into? I'm not from Burlington-but I know people who live there so I can at least ask around. PM me🙂

Anyone know the best transportation to Burlington? I live in a big city on the east coast, about 6 hours away. These flights are expensive! Interviewing 9/24

I know there is a Megabus from Boston to Burlington, takes 3.5 hours and drops you off literally on UVM's undergrad campus. Rides are generally <$20. Might be a good option if you can get to Boston for cheaper.

I concur. My bus to Burlington from Boston for my incoming interview cost me $35 round trip. It's a ~5 hr bus ride for me though using greyhound.

II today for early November! Complete mid-August. So excited to actually experience fall weather for once.

Congrats on the II!! November is really stick season so the foliage will probably be gone and there might be some snow in the mountains, but it is so beautiful!

Thanks! I mostly meant the cold that isn't freezing yet. I honestly forgot that places have trees that change color, since I've lived in the desert for awhile. It's a little shocking when I go somewhere that has green. lol I miss the cold so much!

haha ya I have lived in New England my whole life, I don't know what it is like to have trees that don't change color!! I think you might be one of the first people I have heard say they miss the cold! I love it, but most people try to run away when the cold weather comes

Congrats!! Mind sharing completion date/when you were small pooled
Thank you! Complete sometime around August 25 (can't remember exactly) and small-pooled 2/9 I believe.

Also, does anyone know the interview:acceptance ratio for UVM? Can't seem to find the data on MSAR.

Congrats everyone!! First II for me as well. It only takes one. Been wearing my waterwings since early Aug.
