I completed my Self-Assessment Oct 2, somehow finalized it Oct 3 and my experience review started then. I don't know what is up with that

So I guess that's a no for the 9/30 group who didn't get a call today... :'(

It looks like they just got calls ~45 minutes ago. They could very well just not have gotten through the whole interview day! Their office probably did close at 5 pm

Yea I am thinking the same thing. I hope that is not the case. I am just trying to stay positive at this point.

Wait listed, interviewed 10/07. Probably going to withdraw, this school didn't feel like a good fit for me. Hopefully that will free up a spot for someone else! Best of luck y'all

is this via email? or portal?

Does wmed reject interviewed applicants or just wait lists&accepts?? Seems like nobody got rejected..

Congratulations to all that got accepted today! Excited to finally see the day when all four classes are filled at WMed!

For those that got waitlisted, do not despair! Everybody who interviews and isn't rejected gets re-evaluated at every admissions committee meeting. This means that you don't have a "rank" on the waitlist, you don't have a "spot" on the waitlist - it's a fluid process that looks for unique qualities you bring that are otherwise missing in the class. So the people who got accepted today were evaluated just the same as everybody on the "waitlist" - they were just chosen as the first people to get admissions offers. At every adcom meeting forward, all the people on the waitlist will be looked at again, and they'll pick the people for their second wave of acceptances. And so on and so forth.

Applicants are rejected without being waitlisted first. Keep in mind that SDN does not represent the medical school applicant pool.

I was just added to the wait list.. Although disappointed, I am somewhat optimistic because of how WMed runs their wait list.. Do they accept updates?

Has anyone had any luck trying to move their interview date up sooner?

Do you mind sharing if those that phone interviewed may get waitlisted? If so, how soon should we expect to hear back? I had a phone interview about almost a week ago and was wondering if WMed has reviewed all the phone interviewers last week already/if WMed is done extending in-person interviews from those that phone interviewed last week. Thank you!

Would this be beneficial to gaining an acceptance post wait list? How long after a decision is an appropriate time
Depends on many factors, including nature of your update(s). There is no good answer for your timeframe question.

There have been people in my class and C/O 2019 who had phone interview early on, but did not get onsite II until much later. There is no good answer for when you will get one if you do get invited.

Do you know how many people are typically accepted off the waitlist?

Does it make sense to send a note about my continued interest or just wait a couple of months to see if I get off the waitlist? I don't currently have any substantive updates.

Definitely give it a little bit... a continued interest letter at this point (after being on the waitlist for one day), may look a little desperate.. I was going to wait a month or so and then update about a publication (that hopefully will be accepted by then).

My personal view, which does not represent WMed and the admissions committee, is that continued interest letters are of no use. You get the fun of weighing the pros and cons of sending that or not 🙂

So do you have any affiliation with the admissions committee?

What about letters of intent?

I'm sorry Why didn't you think it was a good fit?

Thanks for the condolences! I've been accepted elsewhere so it's not a huge blow, but I appreciate them all the same.

WMed seemed like a great school, and they clearly put a lot of thought into how they designed their curriculum. The campus was wonderful and everyone was extremely welcoming on my interview day (and the food was great!). I wasn't completely sold on the fact that anatomy is a non-dissecting course. I know this is minor in the long run of becoming a physician, but I have been looking forward to anatomy for a long time, and I feel personally being involved in the dissection process will aid my learning. WMed also does a lot of problem-based and team-based learning. While I think this is important, they place a little more focus on this learning style versus lectures. They still have lectures, but it is less than many of my other schools. I personally learn well in a lecture-setting, so WMed is just a little different from my personal learning style. But this is all just my opinion! I just didn't feel quite as home here, but it is still a wonderful school!
