2017-2018 University of Rochester

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Finally Rochester approved my payment for the donation I sent them back in July.

Rejected pre-II, kinda expected it to be honest, wish I didn't waste the money though....

As waitlisted applicants should we be submitting FA applications in the event we get accepted? Or is that more of an "only do it if you're accepted" type of deal?

From the AAMC Virtual Fair on Thursday 2/15: "All of our applicants who are waiting to hear of an interview decision will be notified by the end of February"

So anybody heard anything?

Does this mean waiting for II or post-interview decision?

IMHO there are strong arguments going for both. On one hand the II tracker from last cycle didn't report any late Feb II so it's rather clear that no more II is coming. But on the other side, there are scheduled interview dates in early March so it seems impossible for post-interview decisions to be, unless those March dates are more for the waitlist.

For those who have already interviewed, what did you guy do with the interviewer information? How in depth did you familiarize yourself with their research and were you able to incorporate this into your interview or did they have their own agenda?

Also, any general interview tips would be appreciated: what to do in with spare time (my first interview is at 9:30 and my second is at 3:30), other interview tips, any recommendations on hotels and transport?

I don't think you should dwell on the interviewer bios. Be familiar with their general area of research/clinical expertise, but don't sweat the details. My interviewers focused the entire interview on me and my application.

You can visit classes in between! There will be a scheduled lunch and "group interview" so that will preoccupy you for some time.

For those accepted, how long after your acceptance email did you receive the official acceptance letter by mail?

Got a very nice and polite rejection from here yesterday. Great school; too bad they didn't give me a chance. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Sorry to hear. Pre or post II?

Withdrew my acceptance! Best of luck to everyone waiting!

Does anyone know when the committee meets next?
Hopefully this week??

Looking at previous years it seems like they were accepting ppl off waitlists at this point, which is concerning because I haven’t heard anything at all yet 😵

After 8 months of waiting IDK why its so hard now lol

When did you interview?

so if we interviewed early feb and haven't heard back yet...does this mean a rejection/ waitlist is impending?

And here I was getting excited that they hadn’t accepted people in awhile lol

Im starting to think we’ll never get a decision.

I don’t think that’s how they do it here. I think they release everything at once... but I am a little unsure....

Maybe someone should give them a call 😀 *wink wink*

I hope not lol

I people have been accepted earlier in this thread so idt they do it all at once.

At my interview in early March they told me 4-6 weeks? But if you guys have been waiting for 6+ I would hope something would come soon. But then again, another school I interviewed at told me 6-8 weeks in November but hasn’t accepted anyone since October lol

Lol sheeeeeit I just think we should hear back now. I’m at 5 weeks btw

For those interviewed in early March, I think the turn around time should be slightly less than 4-6 weeks. I think adcoms tell all interviewees 4-6 weeks as a standard but that's considering them doing both ongoing interview days as well as post-interview evaluations. However for March, I don't think there are any ongoing interviews so they will switch to evaluations 100%. Hence the decision should be sooner.

Welp just WL-ed a couple of hours ago. Hopefully there's a bit of movement later.
