This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is like when I would put off submitting my homework until the last minute then my WiFi crashes haha.
"Dear Applicant,

Due to an unscheduled system wide server migration, we are unable to send any further status notifications out at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused and will resume sending notifications as soon as we are able.

Sincerely,

Associate Dean, Admissions"

“Dear applicant,
In an effort to prolong your suffering to a greater degree, we have decided to reneg on the promise we made to you months ago. We will reject you as late as we possibly can and still get away with it.”

Best post. You get a trophy.

IMO, this was kind of a messy way to (or actually, fail to) notify applicants. Dr. Chan’s Facebook message was nice, but instead of warning others that thousands of applicants would be notified of waitlist placement or rejection, why not just notify the actual applicants?

well if there server was down it is likely they lost the list of who to actually notify or at least a convenient way to do so, while being accountable.

server might be up, login page is now!!!!

I'm sure as soon as somebody is in the office tomorrow to hit "send", they will. Good luck everybody! No matter what happens, don't let it get to you. This process can be very random, and not getting this acceptance does not mean you aren't good enough to be a doctor. The unfortunate truth is there are far too many variables for any school to truly know who will be the best out of all of their applicants. Don't let the decision tomorrow define you. Good luck! And goodnight.

REJECTED. Thank for the support amigos, best of luck in your future endeavors. I admit the process is frustrating. I feel like I'm a very qualified Utah resident, but I'm sure the admissions committee has a lot of hard decisions to make 🙂

Waitlist. Honestly kind of proud to even be on the alternate list. Here’s to hoping for a couple more months.. Good luck to the rest of you!
Does anyone know historically how many people they put on the alternate list and how many they pull off of it? And what pools (OOS with no ties, OOS with ties, in state, etc) these are? Like if an OOS with no ties who’s been accepted declines the offer, do they then extend that seat offer to only another OOS with no ties who was on the alternate list or is it offered to anyone else on the list?

WL... Good luck to all of you! From the optimism to the frustration, reading through each of your comments throughout the cycle has been really relatable. I'm bummed that nobody got a call today, but I hope everyone has something to look forward to--whether it be a different school, or simply improving for another cycle. We'll all get there one day. Coming from a reapplicant.

I remember that at the interview, it was consistently mentioned that once you interview, all OOS/Idaho/IS interviewees have the same chance of acceptance because they select a proportionate number of applicants from each group. I think it’s totally possible for them to want to keep to that kind of proportion when it comes to matriculation, so it very well maybe that there are three waitlist groups. I just received my waitlist notice and will be declining (I’m OOS). I hope that this brings you one step closer to Utah! Good luck!

Thank you for the transparency and for being early in declining your WL position, offering the others of us a chance. You’re amazing and what’s right with this process. Wishing you luck wherever else you’ve decided to attend!!

Waitlisted! Also curious to know if there are 3 separate waitlist pools (OOS/IS/Idaho) that they draw from. Given there's only ~12 Idaho spots I'm not sure how hopeful I should be at this point, but still stoked to be in the game

Looks like I'm in good company on the waitlist, then. Thank you, everyone, for the moral support we have been to each other. May we keep it up! And good luck to us all, either this cycle or next!

There are three separate waitlists. As an Idaho kid on the waitlist I too am not overly confident there will be much movement. Best of luck!

I don't know how many people they put on the alternate list but at my interview day someone asked Dr. Chan about how many people get accepted off the alternate list each year. He said the number is pretty low compared to some school, usually between 15-25. He said usually 80-85% of applicants that get accepted initially end up matriculating.

Anyone else still not hear anything?

Yeah I called and got my rejection over the phone I’ll see you guys next year and good luck to all of those on the wait list!:hello::luck:

Recently accepted after being wait-listed last year; it is possible!

I definitely feel the pain and frustrations one experiences but also know the process is difficult as there are a tremendous amount of applicants qualified for the positions. Take some time to mourn, it's okay to be bummed out. Use that as motivation while you evaluate where you're at and commit to what you want in the future. To everyone who went to the U, I would highly recommend reaching out to the pre-professional office and working with them to decide how to improve your application if you plan to reapply.

To anyone else, I'd love to give back so if any of you need a second look at your PS over the next few months feel free to reach out to me--I am by no means an expert but having someone who is familiar with the process never hurts.

He said the same to us...but I feel like every school has said that...hahah

Has anyone on the waitlist heard anything (or know anyone who has)? I know some people have gotten off the waitlist fairly quickly in previous years.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I try to encourage myself by saying nobody else has made it off the WL yet, then I remember that hardly any acceptances were reported either.. hopefully the SDN representation increases!
