I took the MCAT 3x with my 3rd score jumping up 10 points to 511. Just received an II today, so I'd say they do not look into it too much, at least if the scores continue improving.
When were you complete?

II complete sept 6 - 520+ MCAT 3.9+ GPA OOS

Was wondering if WVU considers people with no ties to WV?

I meant post interview, how big of a factor is having ties to WV?
I think it’s pretty important to this school, but there’s other factors that tie in like having a goal to practice rural medicine.

They're looking for numbers and demonstrated commitment to medicine. Half the class is OOS most with no ties. Good luck on your interview! When was the earliest you could schedule it?

Most of the OOS are from nearby/bordering states. So I would assume a lot of them have some sort of ties to WV on top of the shown commitment to rural medicine.

I scheduled Jan 25th which was the earliest! I feel like they have given out a lot of invites already 😛 and thanks! I guess the main thing for the school is having an interest in serving rural communities

Does anyone know the number of applicants that get interviewed?
According to the MSAR:

IS applicants: 227 -- interviewed: 105 -- matriculated: 55
OOS applicants: 4434 -- interviewed: 739-- matriculated: 55
International applicants: 190 -- interviewed: 48 -- matriculated: 0

Get the MSAR for $15 - it is worth it!

The yield for IS acceptance/ ii is very high nearly 100%, as they must offer admission over number matriculated. For OOS sadly the yield is quite low, only 1 out of 7 ii.

Disclaimer: matriculated =/= accepted

Does anyone know how being put on the waitlist for an earlier date works? I know you email the admissions office, but do they send you back dates you can be put on the waitlist for and you go from there? Or is it a more general thing where they could call you anytime?

They accept about 70 IS for 55 spots.

Tough dilemma here. I am set to interview in mid Jan but was offered a spot for an earlier interview. The earlier interview would mess with vacation plans I already have set with my family. Will interviewing later hurt me?

I dont want to say it will HURT you, but WVU seems to be a big time 'rolling admissions' place, so interviewing earlier would probably boost your chances

Do you think a few weeks could make a significant difference?

Did you ask them to be placed on the earlier interview waitlist? If you did, when did you send that email? Thanks!

No so actually I was planning to register for an interview date but they had a glitch in the system and told me to pick a different date and when they fixed the glitch they would offer me that original date.

Do a lot of people get rejected post interview? Now that the day is getting closer I am worried looking at last year's thread of people posting post- interview rejections even when they thought the interview went well 🙁

My experience is a majority get waitlisted with only a minority getting straight rejected after interviews. Might vary year to year.

Do we find out their decisions on sunday or monday?

Interviewed 10/11. Aly said that ADCOM meets every Tuesday, so the earliest would be Wed afternoon. I am sure it'll be different for those who interviewed earlier

It is! I interviewed 9/27 and she told our party we’d hear Monday 10/16.

Where on the portal will they put their decision? Or will they just email us our decisions?

They usually send you an email congratulating you that you got accepted! and they will ask you to check the portal for your decision letter. In the portal, when you log in, you will see a new tab with the decision letter.

Oh really? They made it seem that everyone will get an email that will just say check your portal and from there you would figure out your decision?

Email would be preferable though

Yup. I was told the exact same thing during my interview day! Either way, GOOD LUCK!

Last year, I got a email just titled "WVU SOM - Committee on Admissions Decision" telling me to check my portal. Though maybe its different if you get an acceptance. I do remember them saying they only call if you are pulled off the waitlist .
Anyone remember what time they said they would be up? Goodluck yall!!!!!!

I remember them saying it'd be during WV business hours so we could call if we had any questions. FWIW I got my notification at 8:28am pacific last year.

Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear back!
