For anyone on the waitlist: I was informed that the waitlist does not have tiers until march in which last year 45-50 individuals were taken off the waitlist. Also, the majority of the movement occurs from April-June. Good Luck to those waitlisted and congrats to those accepted 🙂

Do you know how many people total were on the waitlist? I was waitlisted in October. Acom is my first choice school so I’m trying to stay positive lol.

I do not know exactly but from last years thread I think I read someone say that they take 30-50% off the waitlist so I'm assuming that means about 100-150 are waitlisted but that's just a guess.

Hey I am revisiting the Dothan area this week to scope out the town. Are there any “must sees” in your opinions? And also, where are some of the best places to live around here? Particularly if you have a family with kids. PM me if you’d like

Interviewed on 11/16 and just got the acceptance call today! Future interviewers and students interested in ACOM, don’t hesitate to ask me any questions. 🙂
I will be interviewing at ACOM soon and this is my top school choice. Any advice? I know you can’t say much about the interview but any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Super excited to make it this far!

Be friendly to everyone you see on campus. Get to know your fellow applicants. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
For the interview, be prepared for questions like “Why DO?”, “Why our school?”, and “What do you have to add to our incoming class?” It’s an open file interview, so know your application well.
Relax and enjoy the day! ACOM is a beautiful little school with very kind faculty and students. You’re going to do great!

Did you guys submit your LORs directly to this school?

Did you guys submit your LORs directly to this school?

All of my letters were submitted onto AACOMAS. I actually had one letter submitted a lot later than the others, so I was concerned that ACOM missed it since they had looked at my application weeks prior to it being submitted. I talked to Mr. Willis at ACOM about it, however, and he told me they got it. I suppose they receive an update of some sort when changes are made to your primary application.

What is the "legacy list?" I was informed that I was placed on it. Does it guarantee an interview, regardless of stats?

Seeing all these recent acceptance calls make me nervous as my II is next Feb 15. Does anybody know if the class is full by then? Or if that interview is for waitlisting or actual spot?

Just curious if Feb 15 is the only date that you see on the schedule so far?

All the dates are taken. I scheduled it the moment I received the invite, and Feb 15 was the earliest date I could find available. Now all the dates to end of Feb are all taken.

My interview is that day too and I've been wondering the same thing.. The ACOM c/o 2023 facebook page has 91 members in it and 9 are moderators, so I'm assuming half the class is full at this point.

During my first year there, I was told the legacy list is someone from ACOM recommending one of their friends or family member to the ACOM committee and it supposedly guaranteed an interview, but not an acceptance. Not sure if it changed over the last two years.

A bunch of the members are from class of 2022-2019 too. And during December, some of the people decide not to go to ACOM and the spots in the class open back up again. Historically, ACOM’s incoming class isn’t full until May. February interviews should be still good to go.

Did anyone have problems with their login credentials when making the deposit? Mine isn’t working at all whatsoever

Withdrew my acceptance today. I hope it goes to one of you all waiting! ACOM is a wonderful school and has great things going for them! Good luck all!

Torn between ACOM and another school before the december deposit deadline. My only large concern with ACOM is the huge attrition rate for students that the school seems to be "hiding" through their statistics. Can any current students speak to this and why I'm hearing around 20% of the 1st class did not graduate and whether that's improved at all with the recent classes. Thanks!

Omg 20% attrition?! Where is this coming from? most I think is around 4-5%? ACOM curriculum is solid and their rotation sites are really really good, can’t imagine they have a 20% dropped out. Can anyone in here chime in?

According to the first class’s graduation news article, 128 out of 162 graduated. Some got held back after the first semester and had to retake it, some dropped out, some were probably dismissed due to unprofessional behavior or academics, and some got held back during their clinical years due to board failures. In comparison, class of 2018 seems to have more students graduating based of their match list, but I also see a handful of students from 2017 on their match list and not sure if they were included in the 2017 graduation numbers or not. I believe the numbers will improve after each class.

This is extremely concerning. I'm not sure how to take it and wish the 2018 attrition rate was available as it can be expected for a 1st graduating class to have some issues, but 20% is a lot.

Someone from 2018 or who attended the graduation may have a better idea of how many graduated.

Withdrew my acceptance here at ACOM. I hope it goes to one of those on the waitlist. best of luck to everyone!

Just got an email from them saying I needed a reference from a physician to fulfill the requirements however one of my references is a physician. Is this a common mistake the admissions committee makes?

I’ve tried to call several times but there’s no answer. I’ll keep trying tho.

Maybe the physician didn't sign it or add a letter head, that was an issue with one of my letters.

How did you correct it? And did you ever get them on the phone?

I had to do this with a different school. I emailed my letter writer and asked him to upload a signed pdf with a letterhead to my interfolio account (you can just skip this step but I wanted to have it as a backup), and then I uploaded it to amcas and sent it to the school that way. The process is probably same for aacomas.

wow this is really bad, where is this written?

That is also 128 students who went through the program successfully and all of which matched. I feel like that’s more of an individual issue with the students that didnt pass and not so much the school. I wouldn’t base your success on how poorly others performed

Waitlisted here today, 3 days after my interview. Pretty down but hoping for good news. Does anyone have any stats that would cheer me up? Hahahha in all seriousness, thank you to those who withdraw their acceptances when they know where they want to go. It makes a big difference for those of us on the waitlist!

Hey I know that do accepted we get a computer and an iPad. Could a current student tell me what type of iPad and if they know of anyone who sold the computer and iPad because they already had a good computer and iPad?

For current students* In addition to the 60% attendance, how many mandatory days a semester are there? like what would you say it winds up being equivalent to? actually 70%/80% mandatory days?

Usually less because the designated student assignments (DSAs) are incorporated into the “60% attendance” but the lectures that are listed mandatory, varies from block to block. There could be two listed mandatory lectures a week or eight.

Any word on a possible reduction in mandatory attendance after this year? That seems to be the trend with ACOM.

No idea. I’m not on campus anymore. You would have to ask the first/second years or administration.

Hello everyone,
If anyone has an interview that they are canceling in Dec or Jan, please let me know. I am scheduled to interview in February but would want to interview sooner if possible.

Hey guys! Current 4th year here, I'm currently sitting at the airport waiting for my flight for another residency interview and thought I'd jumped on and say to those who have been accepted welcome to the ACOM family! You'll find that everyone is heavily invested in your education and the friendships you make during these next four years you will cherish throughout your career. To those who have been waitlisted please do not lose faith, I recall there were a few people in my class who got the call during first year orientation, and to those who did not get accepted remember that is one minor speed bump on this long road. I applied 3 times before ultimately getting accepted to ACOM I know it sucks but remember this is a marathon not a sprint you'll get there just keep working hard and striving for this calling. Anyone have any questions about ACOM in general or anything specific please feel free to reach out I'll do my best to answer them in time. Take care guys and happy holidays!

What's the interview like here? Are they looking for major commitment to rural medicine?

Pretty chill and conversational interview. They are looking to see if you are a good fit for the school. And no, they are not looking for major commitment to rural medicine. During my interview, they did not ask me about what specialty I may be going into. No push for me to go into primary care or rural medicine at all.

Does ACOM end interview in March, or later? On hold here after secondary, and getting very nervous.
