I just went with what I thought was most relevant but there’s more than one way to fill itThere's no description...
II received today for late Aug/early Sept! App was complete mid-July, LizzyM 75, IS/ORM. Super surprised at how early this was.
I don't think it's too cliché. If that's your most proud accomplishment then go for it!Is it advised to not write the accomplishment prompt about being the first in my family to graduate college? I could give details about personal history overcoming initial difficulties, but is this topic too cliché for a secondary essay even if it is my most proud accomplishment?
My alternate option would be coordinating a community event for an underserved population on campus.
Thanks! I'm just a little hesitant in using academics to answer prompts. I think a genuine answer is good though.I don't think it's too cliché. If that's your most proud accomplishment then go for it!
Ya I understand the hesitation. I think bad ways to use academics would be talking about grades for a failure essay. This is different because you're talking about background and adversity and showing that you value educationThanks! I'm just a little hesitant in using academics to answer prompts. Received Friday night. I submitted my secondary before 9th but my committee LOR only arrived in the middle of last week.Congrats! You got an II on the weekend? Were you complete sometime earlier this past week, or was it before the 9th?
I was planning on it. I think the underserved is used to gather slightly different information. Notice how the activities section mentions the most significant events, but does not include specific communities.Did you peeps repeat the underserved community activities from the Personal Information section to the Activity section?

+1 received just now, LM 67 ISreceived secondary just now. LM 67, IS and submitted on first day
I might not mention that it's an SO...maybe use friend/mentor?I am applying to the Prime-LC program (focus on latino communities). I am non-latino and learned Spanish late in life. One of the questions ask about how you learned Spanish, and there is an "other" option with description. Would it be bad to say that a significant amount of my Spanish speaking was learned from my SO who is a physician in Mexico? I don't want to look like that's the only reason I care about Latino populations!
Advice from anyone on this thread is appreciated, but @LizzyM you always seem to have great advice when it comes to international experiences and languages, so I would love any input from you as well on this topic!
I did not get that email; my first email from them was 7/14 for a secondary invite.Still no secondary. IS.
I did get this email tho:
We perform a holistic review of all applicants and due to the volume of applications it may take until late February to complete the review of your application. If you are offered a secondary application you will be notified by email and given instructions how to complete your application.
Did anybody else get that email and still receive secondary?

Received second rejection (post-secondary) this morning :/ with a LM of 69. I knew my odds were slim to none but it still stings

Typically only 16% of secondary submission yield an interview. Reasons could range from mission, stats, regional ties, coin flip, etc.Received Secondary 7/12, submitted same day. Rejected this morning. Anyone have any insight why?

LM 73, Definitely not because of my stats. I am just more concerned on how SWIFT the rejection was, you know? What are your stats? I'm 95% sure I got rejected because my stats are too low. Looks like all of the people who got IIs have LM of like 77-80

Ah I'm sorry. There are still all the UCs left though! When were you complete?Received the axe today. It kinda hurts to get it so quickly from my #1 school. But I am happy to go oos now. The cycle is still young.
Sorry to hear that...good luck with OOS. Does anyone know why Irvine gives rejections so quickly? I haven’t really seen other schools do thisReceived the axe today. It kinda hurts to get it so quickly from my #1 school. But I am happy to go oos now. The cycle is still young.

Please describe to the Admissions Committee a challenge you have overcome and what you learned about yourself from that experience.
I wanted to talk about my experience moving to the US for college - how it was difficult to leave my family and friends and to relate to people around me especially with the language barrier- what I learned about myself is that I was highly adaptable to new situations, what do you guys think? too cliche?
I got rejected bro
Oh darn I'm so sorry. I thought II meant Interview invite so I thought maybe you got an interview. my bad. keep your head up! long road ahead with lots of opportunities awaiting you!I got rejected bro
