Did anyone else get an email with a reminder that they are still working on your application? I thought that was kinda weird....

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

Has anyone who indicated rural medicine interest on their application received an interview yet? Do they take into account whether or not you selected one of those options before the II?

Yeah, that's what I understood. Last year they sent the first wave of rejections in October. I do not know why they changed it. I would rather be rejected early on than be in limbo for months.
So if you follow the string of October rejections on last year's thread, it is followed by people posting that they ended up receiving the rejection notice in error. I'm betting it was an error and most people received their final status in the spring, but I can't say that with any sort of certainty. CU did change their interview process this year, so other things may have changed as well, including when you might hear from them.

Disclosure - I am a current MS1 who has no connection to admissions. However, from seeing others go through the process, CU seems to be like many other medical schools who hold off on sending rejections for as long as possible. I know the waiting game is frustrating, but it's probably best that way. Generally when schools delay notifying you about your status, it's because they're giving your application the benefit of multiple reviews - and hopefully that means you have more opportunities to be given the chance of an interview or acceptance. (On the other end of the spectrum are schools that email you every 2-3 weeks to let you know you haven't been accepted but are still being considered - I personally prefer silence to "it's not your turn yet" overkill.)

As for timelines with CU, again, being patient and trying not to draw conclusions will help. Like others have noted here, I also received my acceptance after others who interviewed later than me received theirs (I waited ~8 weeks, someone who interviewed after me only waited 4).

Applying to medical school is a long, slow, and often frustrating process along the way of becoming a physician. That doesn't change after you get in (although it does come with the privilege of formally becoming part of the profession). Make sure you're building and relying on your circles of social support now so you are prepared to weather these frustrations in your medical school career and beyond. Hang in there, I empathize!, and I look forward to seeing everyone who chooses CU next year!

Thanks for sharing. This sounds much better when considered from your perspective 🙂. My concern is that some applicants have actually been rejected, just not informed, considering that they sent over 300 interview invites out of 600. The wait is really hard .

I definitely understand - I was a reapplicant, so I can appreciate what it feels like on both ends of the spectrum. Good luck to you!

Were you waitlisted or were you kept in silence until January?

This waiting has me going bonkers that I'm considering building and growing a garden to distract myself when on my days off.

Just didn’t hear back. It’s holiday szn now so (unfortunately) those response dates might get pushed back. No promises though bc I have no knowledge of the admissions teams process/where they are in reviewing.

Just checked my portal and noticed my status is “Your application is ready, and under review”...has the “under review” been there the whole time or is this a change?

I am post-Interview and mine changed from "Your application is ready" to "Your application is ready and, under review" this morning

Its okay! Win some and lose some. I interviewed on 10/5

Shoot I was hoping we'd both get some good news at some point, I feel like we've been both waiting together for something for a while now. What time did you receive the email?

Interviewed 9/21 so the pessimism in me thinks they could be working backwards from interview dates.

Pretty early this morning. Maybe at about 8am?

Sorry to hear that! Good luck with the rest of your other schools and for the rest of your cycle. If you don't mind checking, did your portal change to say anything different? Did it add "under review" at any point?

My portal didn’t change at all. The only thing is under “communication status” it had a copy of the email that rejected me lol

Does anyone know when the school interviews? e.g. Monday-Friday or only certain weekdays? Also had anyone tried an in the area email? Thanks!

How often does the selection committee get together?

got the email about being under review on 10/25 but portal just changed today to say "ready, and under review"

thoughts?

just wasn't sure if it differed pre/post II cause I noticed a lot of portals changed post-II
Gotcha, I'm pretty sure everyone had the change. Also, I heard on here Adcoms meet every other Friday for II review... not sure if you knew that but thought it'd be usefull.
