2018-2019 University of Colorado

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is this school receptive to pre-II updates, and has anyone sent one?
they don't accept updates of any kind, pre or post II to "ensure the process is fair for everyone." I don't really understand that logic if one applicant is working their butt off over the course of the year and wins a Nobel Prize while another sits on the couch at their grandma's house guzzling ranch dressing.*

*scenario may be slightly exaggerated

My portal didn’t change at all. The only thing is under “communication status” it had a copy of the email that rejected me lol

The same thing happened to me Tuesday, later in the day. I called the adcom on a lark and they would not provide any feedback. They said their might be a general seminar in the spring to help 'improve our applications'.

It makes sense to me. Not everyone is privy to the idea of sending updates. For the Nobel prize you won and shared with the committee, I may have spent more time earning a Medal of Honor instead of browsing SDN trying to figure out ideal timing for update letters. Colorado's logic makes sense to avoid bias in favor of the neurotic or desperate versus candidates who's merit was only reported on the primary and secondary applications. The Nobel prize winner will be an excellent candidate next year.

I don't follow. If you spent more time earning a Medal of Honor than browsing SDN I would think you would be in favor of updating a school with this accomplishment. And why can't you win a Nobel Prize and browse SDN for the ideal timing of updates? Wouldn't you want to announce the accomplishment you've worked so hard for at the right time? I think someone driven, passionate and logical would. Call it Neurotic and desperate if you want. But saying that someone who cares enough to continue pursuing accomplishments that are noteworthy in this field should not receive bias as opposed to someone who's attempt at merit stops at the secondary application doesn't make sense to me. Even if someone has to stop their activities for whatever reason, I'd argue that you most likely will find something notable in that experience. The application cycle runs through say March. So why should someone's application to medical school be finalized in August?
I’ll tell you what’s neurotic and desperate- watching you two go back and forth about some sort of weird hypothetical situation and getting all defensive about it when neither one of you can control whether or not a school accepts updates

Jumping in here for the first time. Anyone still waiting on the final CASPer testing date? My application has been complete apart from that. At this point I feel like it's so late in the game, but we shall see what happens.

Hi all! today I contacted the admissions office because I hadn't received anything but an initial email. They said:

"It appears that we have received your Primary application. The admissions committee has not sent you a Secondary Application invitation as of yet, however that does not mean you won’t receive an invitation. If you are invited to receive a Secondary Application you will be emailed"

A ray of light for some of us I hope 😀

AMCAS reviewed as complete on 08-06-2018, IS applicant

Congratulations to all you OOS, September completion folks getting interviews!

I may have overestimated the IS advantage at this school. Targeted stats, currently work in healthcare in rural CO, and no love yet, with the interview season here apparently winding down. Complete first few days in August.

Ugh I know me too. I was complete early July. Dying to go here- I would cry if I got an interview

How often does the admissions committee meet? Lookin' for that good news (hopefully) from my interview in Nov sometime before Christmas

I’ve read on here before that it’s supposed to be every other Friday, which would mean they should’ve reviewed this past week. However, with the holidays who really knows.
