Interviewed several weeks ago and just got an email stating I've been placed on Deferred Decision status. Have any current students been in this predicament? I honestly thought my interview day went well.

Hey congrats to those accepted!!
Do people get confirmation emails that their app was completed?

When did you interview exactly if you don’t mind me asking? And have faith, I know someone who was initially deferred and now attends this school!

What does deferred decision status mean? That they are continuing to review your application?

Just got an II!

The dates available only go until Nov. 2nd - I think this was asked already, but just to double check - will more dates become available over the next few days? I'm not sure I'll be able to make any of the dates listed.

Is it a bad thing to be stuck at under consideration by screening committee? I have been there for about 2 months and am starting to get worried I am held there until the end of the cycle when I will get a rejection. I would love an II as this is a top choice school of mine. IS LM 67

I'm in the same boat. I'm calling the admissions committee in an hour or so.

At least you're under consideration...mine still says "forwarded to the screening committee" so they might not have even looked at it yet :depressed: this is also one of my top choices

Also, does this school send pre interview rejection now, or do they leave us in purgatory until the end of the cycle? Has anyone gotten a pre interview rejection from this school? Thank you!

Last cycle I didn't receive my rejection until March

when did you have your application being under review?

It was “forwarded to screening committee” up until beginning of October then “under review my screening committee” last I checked a couple days ago. Got the interview email today

Congrats!
I was complete on 7/27 and mine is still under "forwarded to screening committee".
I really hope they show me some love and send me an II too!
what were the available interview dates?

What were your stats? I am in a similar position!

+1 complete mid-July!

I have been under consideration for like two months and am worried that its a hold until a rejection later in the cycle. Would it be appropriate to send either a letter expressing my continued interest or call and ask what the status of my application is?

When were you complete? UIC is going really slow with the interviews!

anyone know if this school is receptive to ITA requests? Thanks in advance!

So If we haven’t heard back for our decisions?... do we have to wait until December as well?

Is it appropriate to reach out or no?

They told us during interview day that we were the first group to enter the 12/15 group
right but someone earlier said that 9/17 people were told they were the first group so i thought they mightve changed it

All they said on my interview day on 9/14 was that they were giving out decisions "late fall." So I didn't know what that meant.

I was apart of 9/17 group and heard that. Also someone reported being accepted out of the 9/17 group so I don’t know. Maybe that person was EDP?
The administrator told me it would be 12/15 as well.

Any tips for the interview?
If you are interviewing in Chicago you'll have three 25 minute interviews (1 student, 2 separate faculty)
... in Peoria you'll have two 25 minute interviews (1 student, 1 with two faculty members together)

Be prepared to answer/discuss experiences and motivations that attracted you to medicine. Be prepared to talk about your understanding of the current state of affairs in healthcare.

3 months after still forwarded to the screening committee. I know it's hard for everyone, but this sucks!

Does "forwarded" mean that the committee hasn't laid eyes on our apps at all yet? I'm stressing about not hearing back from my state school yet but I'm wondering if it's just a matter of being later in the queue and not necessarily an issue with my app

II just now, but the only dates are 11/9 and 11/30. If I sign up for 11/9, I will be rushing and will not have preparation time, but 11/30 seems so far away. I am worried that the later date will hurt my chances. Advice?

Do what you feel more comfortable with. I believe UIC has stopped being a rolling school after a certain date, which is what I remember from my interview day. I interviewed on 10/1 and they will release decisions on Dec 14/15, and others who interviewed in the vicinity of this date will also hear back around then. It may be that the difference between 11/9 and 11/30 is relatively minimal in terms of your chances.

TLDR: if you think two days is not enough time, I would recommend pushing to 11/30. You only get one interview day. Good luck!
