2018-2019 University of Illinois

Hey everyone!

So I submitted everything back close to July 14th and have been stuck in the “forwarded to the screening committee” status for what seems like forever (I can’t remember when it changed). I sent an update on 9/27 to medadmit, but never heard any type of response (previous conversations here say it isn’t typical to hear a response, but they heard it anyways). I’ve heard that interviews go until March, but should I do anything just to make sure everything’s ok? IS URM

Does anyone know if they have a place to put luggage for interviewees? Thanks

Anyone know when campus assignments will come out?
No, I feel like we've been given no information except that we've been accepted. I saw somewhere online that we should have gotten them in 3ish weeks from acceptance, maybe they're just behind this year.

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here knows if UIC requires more than one quarter of Biochemistry. I know their website states "one introductory course in biochemistry", so I want to make sure if they make a distinction between quarter and semester hours.

Thank you!

Last year we did not start getting our campus placements until mid-Jan and they continued rolling them out until the beginning of February.

hello interviewed 12/3 OOS
we were told because they overadmitted last year, they’d be holding applications longer before handing out acceptances post interview. because my group is right before the december meeting, we’re likely to not hear back until early 2019. adcoms meets every third thursday and students are likely sent acceptances the following friday so the next possible dates are the third friday of january or the fourth friday of february (the third thursday is valentine’s day). good luck everyone ! i know it’s a long time waiting, but i believe in all of you !!

When I interviewed, they said if you do not hear back by December 14th, and you interviewed before that date, you should email them!

Does this mean you could potentially hear back before that date, or is it just a mass decision sent out to everyone that day?
I interviewed back in September, and they didn't really say anything to our group about decisions, so its been a long wait.

OOS with previous residency in Illinois (rural area) just got an interview. They only offered me dates within the next 5 days and I'm unavailable because of work. How early should they release the next batch of interviews because I'd like to do my interview before I go home for Christmas.

We will all know by 12/15/2018, next week Friday.

I interviewed mid-September, and they said that we would hear back on Friday, December 14.

I interviewed Nov 29 and one of my interviewers told me the school is expecting to reach decisions this month but that it was highly unlikely. We can only wait and see lol

Just got an II this morning. I'm OOS though... with the tuition, would anyone with insight say that it's worth it? Is it possible to establish in state residency/do they give out any merit scholarships for OOS? Also, can any current students/anyone who's interviewed here already give some insights on the school itself? How is the curriculum? Pass/fail? Likes and dislikes? Thank you!! 🙂

No for instate-residency. Merit aid is limited but available.

Can't answer the other questions.

I am in the same position!! lmk if you want to talk +pity+

From what I was told, they are not doing rolling admissions this year. Instead they are clumping interviewees together in specified date ranges and releasing all admission decisions to that "clump" together. I had a friend who interviewed very early and has already been notified of his acceptance.

We will all know by 12/15/2018, next week Friday.
I'm going to throw out an n=1... but at my interview in Peoria back in 11/2, there was no mention of when we would hear back. It simply wasn't mentioned in any presentation and I they just said "I don't know" when we asked when to expect notice. Hope you're right!

Moved to under consideration after 1 month. Hopefully this next window is short!

Understood. My interviewer told us something different. She said the decisions were rolling but we all be hearing back on 12/15/018. My guess is that the plans were altered as the cycle progressed and they had to evaluate more candidates for spots in the school of medicine.

Just a heads up, I severely doubt that fall interviewees are gonna hear back by Friday.

I just called the admission office to check in, and the staff member I spoke with told me the committee was meeting "soon" to determine who would get a decision "this month." She said that there would be people who don't hear anything this month who will be hearing in January instead.

She was very nice though.

I interviewed in October, and they told my group we would not be hearing anything until Dec 14. However, I received an email on Nov 9 saying I was placed on deferred decision status. And my status page says that my application will be reviewed at the next meeting. Does everyone who interviewed status say deffered admission, or is it just me?? Its kinda freaking me out. Please reply!

I don't even have a status page. I have an application status on the homepage, but mine still says, "Your application has been forwarded to the admissions committee."

It sounds like that might just be an old thing from your secondary. But you can totally call and ask! Don't stress if they can just tell you.

Did you interview yet?

I think what OP is referring to is the status *line*. When you interview, there is an Interview update line/sentence with your status.

If you haven't interviewed yet, you still have a line/sentence. Mine says I am now under consideration. It used to say my app was forwarded to the admissions committee.

It would make sense that OP's line/sentence says deferred status. OP - this means you are still being considered. 🙂

I did already interview and mine still just says "Forwarded to the admission committee" and that my interview was scheduled for [date].
Should I be worried? :wideyed:

The dashboard page on my portal says "your application has been forwarded to the admissions committee" followed by the date my interview was scheduled for. I interviewed 11/15/18- they really didn't give us any information on when we would hear back, I was under the assumption it would be this Friday. Hope this helps!

Depends on what you are worried about? It's possible that you are being considered but they don't have a date to reassess you yet. Or, they have made a decision and have not updated your portal. All speculation. OP received an email about deferred status so they were deliberate about notifying OP of current status.

If you have interviewed and not heard back, don't think too much about it. Anything is possible.

When did you interview? My application status just says "Your application has been forwarded to the admissions committee."

Mid September. If you interviewed at that time and don’t have anything on the portal there’s a good chance you will get an acceptance email on Friday
