2018-2019 University of Illinois

Just got off the phone with admissions. There's a committee meeting on Thursday, with the same acceptance procedures we're used to. I did manage to get a couple new pieces of information. Right now there's no wait list. Also, the director articulated that the last batch of acceptances might be in May.

MAY?? AHHH

Hi everyone, I received a deferral email two days ago that stated that my application will continue to be active until they form the official waitlist after 4/30/2019. Did anyone else receive this email?

I haven’t received anything like this but interviewed in September. When did you interview?

MAY?? AHHH
I know 😢
I'm sure they're waiting for seats to open up after the April 30th deadline. But if I've committed to another school by then and by some miracle UICOM finally says something, can I go back on my word?? No one seems to know the answer to this question.

I did not. My portal is eternally stuck at "forwarded to the admissions committee". I interviewed in December

Yes. Past April 30th you would be placed on an official waitlist. You can still hold waitlist spots after April 30th and can switch schools if offered an acceptance.

Building off of this... If you have to commit to enroll at a school you have to forfeit all waitlist spots right?

I believe so but I don't think there's any obligation to use that tool until you're 100% sure of the school you want to attend

I thought you had to commit to enroll like 30 days or so prior to the start of the term but I'm not positive... either way most schools start around the same time so that shouldn't really matter

Hey guys, I’m planning on interviewing for UMed next week. Could anyone who’s in the program share how they prepared for the interview? Or anyone who’s also interviewing shed light on how they’re preparing? Thanks!

Nope, just applied normally and they offered an interview at the Chicago campus for the PAP but there’s nothing anywhere saying how much it costs, what classes I’m taking, etc

Hey I was just curious to know if you have heard anything back yet for PAP?

Nothing yet. I emailed one of the interviewers two weeks ago and it was just, “No decisions have been made at this time please check back in two weeks” but im just going to wait it out now lol

Cool, thanks for letting me know. Guess I have to keep waiting lol

I received this email in January.

Hey! Did they email you to let you know about this? I applied and only got a confirmation of my app. But I interviewed in Feb so I haven't received any word on my post-II decision. I know they are having interviews during second look for UMEd, but curious if they reached out to you or anything like that

I’m in this position as well. I interviewed last month, and I’m still waiting on the post-II news. When I emailed Nichole from UMed about interview invites, she said decisions can’t be made on my file since I haven’t been accepted to the school yet. She said someone from UMed would contact me with an update if/when I’m accepted.

Was an email with details about Second Look specifically for Rockford ever sent out? I got an email about how CEMED interviews will be on second look, but not an email about second look

Yeah, you should have received an email for second look. If you got accepted and have not received an email, I would try to get in touch with the office of admissions or Rockford campus ASAP.

Yeah, I received an e-mail for interview invite for UMed, but I was accepted to UICOM a couple months back. I'm not sure what the procedure is for people who haven't gotten accepted to UICOM yet.

Does anyone know what to wear to Second Look? Business casual is my guess, but I'm not sure. I might be interviewing for the CEMED program that day as well. Would you guys recommend me wear business professional if I am interviewing?

Forgive me for not reading too far back into the thread but I was wondering if anyone knew about how the process from here goes for people who have interviewed and are just waiting for a decision. I read that today there was supposed to be an admissions meeting. Does that mean that a batch of acceptances/deferrals will be sent out soon? I'm asking since someone else also mentioned the next batch will be in May?

May was referring to when the last batch of acceptances might potentially be sent out.

There should be some news about acceptances from the meeting taking place today.

Deferred status on the portal as of this morning, LM 76 IS....

Are you getting notifications of deferral? Or does your portal say deferred?

My portal has NEVER changed from "Forwarded to the admissions committee."

I checked my portal and it instead of the “forwarded” message it read something like “Your app is deferred to the next meeting.” This was the first time it actually changed for me.

Hope this helps & good luck!

Mine has been that same as yours since I interviewed! I haven't received a deferral notice, so hopefully some good news to come?

has anyone on the deferred status heard back? been on "deferred to next committee meeting" since the January meeting...I am beginning to think this "next meeting" is not happening

Anyone want to call the office and ask what the plan is. I would but I have called so many times before. Interviewed in October.

When I called yesterday, I was told that adcom was meeting on Thursday (today) and that my portal would be updated after 3-4 days. She also said that if my portal does not change, then I should call back to see if my file was pushed back to the next meeting, or if someone from the office can update me on my status.

Thank you for that update. I thought they usually send decisions the next day after the meeting, so today? Just will have to wait, it’s already bothering me how much this school costs OOS.

So are they not going to send out end-of-day emails as they usually do after these meetings?

Not sure if anyone else knows the answer to this, but I thought the March 15 deadline was that schools had to send out at least the number of offers as they have seats.

How would they still be giving acceptance offers out in May? Is that just from students that declined and it’s kinda a rolling waitlist anyway? So confused

Yes I believe they’ve sent out at least 300 acceptances (their class size) by this point. In past years, they’ve accepted up to like 600/650 because so many people who are offered acceptances don’t end up matriculating.

Do the numbers from previous years still seem to hold up, or did you guys learn anything from your interviews? I interviewed in Peoria, but other groups got numbers read off to them...I hope acceptance after interviews are as high as I’ve been told.

Yeah, I interviewed at Peoria too, and they told me something like 715 people are interviewed and 630 are sent acceptances. Out of those 630, they expect only half to say yes. I'm hoping that's true.

I called the admissions office asking if notifications of decisions would be going out today and was told yes.
Do you know if it will be an email notification or a portal update? I’m sooooo tired of refreshing my portal 🙁
