2018-2019 Wayne State University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received an II at 3AM and just happened to wake up just now and check my email because the neuroticism is real. I hadn't checked my portal in a while so I have no idea if I missed the update on the portal and it just rolled over to email recently.

*furiously checks other portals...*

2* submitted 8/12, confirmed complete 8/14, II received 10/2.

There are plenty of dates (Mondays/Fridays in Nov/Dec) available... possibly because I'm the weirdo who woke up in the middle of the night and happened to check my email.

Are you me? I woke up at 5:30am totally randomly, checked my phone, and saw the 3am interview invite email. I was too tired to react to it but after a few minutes got up to schedule it on my laptop.

Complete 8/13

Add me to the "woke up early, saw the 3am e-mail, and haven't checked my portal in a minute II" train!

Low overall GPA, decent MCAT, OOS, non-trad, URM, reinventor. Complete mid-August.

II as well! I checked mine on the portal last night and saw that it gave me an option to interview but never received an email. IS, LM ~73. Complete mid-August.

Some food for thought: when Wayne said they were sending out hundreds of interviews, do you think they might have just queued them up to be released in batches? That would make sense that they had chosen 500 interviewees but released them all at the same time.

OOS here who also is on the 3am II hype train! LizzyM is 67. For all who are curious, this Reddit post from two years ago claims that 70% of students who interviewed at WSU got accepted:

portal yesterday, email today early morning (3 AM!)

My interview invite appeared in my spam mail, so make sure to check that!

"Hooray, no spam here!"
don't Hooray me Gmail, I wished I had spam from Wayne State...
Congrats though! Fellow Canadian hoping to hear some good news soon!

Congrats to everyone that got II's! But it looks like they are running out of II's to sent especially if they sent out 600+ already...

whats the difference between SS and MR. Finished 08/14 and new mcat score in beginning of September. Silence still

Yeah I’ve still been in SS

for those of you who received II, did it just go from SS to II?

Anyone apply to the MD/MPH program and receive an II?

Have any BMS students that did not do EDP receive an II yet? Really hoping they don't wait until February like last round

Im SC, not SS....I'm guessing they passed over me and didn't like what they saw lol.

Just curious: Can anybody provide insight on how long it took for your portal to go from MR to SS to SC? Thank you!

Why assume they rejected you because you can't decode a two letter abbreviation they made without any explanation? If I had that status Id call and ask what it means.. you paid $ to them to process it..

Obviously it's not logical, but that's what we do on SDN.

"Sickle Cell SS and Sickle Cell SC are two different conditions that relate to abnormal protein mutations in blood cells. For people with one S and one C mutation, called sickle cell-hemoglobin C, they have less episodes of their blood cells clumping together than do people with SS, so they have less pain crises." I found the answer to the SS vs SC debate guys. No thanks necessary, that's why I work in HR.

MR = Medical School in for Review. Been this way since early September. Seriously though, what the flying **** is SS and SC?

Also one of my interviews explained the new AAMC rules and said they will be interviewing more people (idk if its the same for wayne)

Would you be willing to share which school this was? Some are saying they will II less people, so more is obviously better!

It gives more chance for us right? It's so hard to get to the II stage in the first place, so if schools II more students, then I feel like at least one huge barrier will have been overcome.
On the other hand, you could be in waitlist purgatory for the entirety of the cycle. Personally, I would rather a school be more selective and pretty much guarantee me an acceptance after the interview but to each his own I suppose.

FYI, never went to SC. I was at SS and then immediately got MV for my interview
Admissions staff said they aren't told what those codes mean, only the committee members know. So I don't plan on reading into it anymore because it's pointless. Also, 1200 II is still the goal they said and they hold 80 interviews a week, 40 in the morning and 40 in the afternoon on Mondays I believe.

I agree with this. For the cost of travel, taking time off work (or school for some), I'd rather know I have a pretty good chance of garnering an acceptance at a school that is very selective with their II's

When I scheduled, I had a choice between several Mondays and Fridays FWIW

Noted. I haven't seen the schedule yet but it would be 40 interviews Monday (20 morning/20 afternoon) and 40 Friday (same). Were only halfway so there's still a lot of time to hear about an interview.
