Last year they did an enormous wave all at once. They have most likely read all apps submitted well before August by now. Add that to the fact that they interview around 20-25% of instate applicants (which I am), if I don't catch an II in the first wave, I would say it's bad news.

You're going to stress out massively (and unnecessarily imo) if you think that if you don't receive an II today, you're done for. I didn't get an interview invite from Wayne until October and I'm far from being the only one. Adcoms stratify applications as they come in based on a variety of factors. Please try to relax.

I wish the best of luck to all of you today! If you don't hear anything, don't despair. The cycle is still early yet!

Does anyone know if Wayne is receptive to ITA (in the area emails)? I'm from Philly and I'll be out there to interview at Oakland and would prefer to save some money on traveling.

the reason i couldn't believe it first was cuz adcom don't easily give info like this. they're more likely to cuss us out for having the audacity of asking such questions and tell us to be patient

Not true. She told me that they start their interviews today for ED and will start sending regular interview requests “this Friday”

according to last year it was just a portal update...but then again, according to last year we are suppose to hear from them already.
 
Trying to organize my materials and lesson plans for the courses I'm teaching this year but my neurotic habit of checking my portal is getting annoying as all hell. Why you doing us like this Wayne????

I just called and they said that since the application isn't due until December interview invites will start going out around then. I'm guessing this information is incorrect.

Probably that IIs won't come today, but they're finishing up with ED interviews right now.
 
Guys just remember that October 15 is the first time anyone can be accepted. It’s kinda unprofessional to keep students waiting for months after an interview to know their status. Wayne generally shoots for 2-4 week turnarounds. I’d rather wait for an interview than wait months for a final decision
 
Wayne is really doing their own thing this year huh? I mean, if their interview season starts that late, how are they going to get enough Fridays to fill the class unless you're interviewing like 20 people every Friday?

It’s not just Wayne. MSU CHM is just as dead and OU just responded this week. Something is up w Michigan

That's been true in previous cycles too and it didn't stop them from sending IIs out earlier. Or any other school from sending and scheduling IIs early

True but you have to look at many other factors. Getting an interview invite doesn’t mean you're able schedule it the next week. They place 2-3 week buffers sometimes. Wayne also completely revamped their interview day from what I’ve heard. And started interviewing into March when they didn’t previously. It’s not a coincidence that Wayne, Central, Oakland, MSU have all been late this year. I heard it has something to do with AAMC traffic laws
 
Has anyone gotten the "Med School in for Review (MR)" status?

What does that mean?
