2019-2020 Columbia VP&S

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Mine is working! Reject me already Columbia. I’ve been sitting on silence since mid-July. I am ready!

I’m anxious so here is my galaxy brain take. It seems like have always sent out R/WLs the day after acceptances. That means if we find out decisions tomorrow, people who don’t get a call would have to wait a weekend to have an answer. It seems unlikely they would do that given the past year trends. So it’s most likely going to be today or Monday. It being mid afternoon without an SDN reported call doesn’t bode well for today folks.

Thnk u 4 coming 2 my ted talk.

Seems valid... Plus, MSTP decisions have gone out on Friday for the last 3 cycles, but not for regular MD.
Guess I'll see you folks bright and early on Monday 😵

Homies, don't hate me but I called for an update since I have also been sitting in silence since July and the person from admissions said they were still reviewing apps and possibly sending out interview invites.

Just spoke to my friend who’s an M1, they’ve been done with interviews for a while

I’m not holding out any hope for an interview right now. Most schools are done with interviews, and to be honest, I don’t think Columbia is going to have trouble filling its class. I just want the rejection confirmation so I can record it in my spreadsheet.

i'm definitely not holding out any hope for this, but also, i cant understand why admissions would even say that. to be honest, i would've absolutely preferred the rejection!

looking at last year’s thread people also called the office and they said it would be early March, but decisions ended up coming in February still. So there’s still hope for tomorrow!

so to recap:

we have sources from someone in admission saying decisions are next week...

But Rs/WL are sent close to As... so we could hear back tomorrow or Monday

but also MSAR says Mar 2 so maybe it’s definitely Monday

but also someone called and they’re still giving out interviews so maybe decisions maybe later next week

LOOK AT WHAT YOURE DOING TO US COLUMBIA.

They're for sure not still giving out interviews. My guess is admissions employees are told to give canned answers that are ambiguous so as to not unintentionally promise people things. I can't imagine it would ever be allowed that admissions staff would respond "Sorry, you are being rejected and we just haven't sent the email out yet." Similarly for the actual admissions decision date. They don't want to make any promises to anyone just in case something happens they won't get an angry phone call from some applicant asking why it didn't happen when random employee xyz said it would.

That’s exactly what happens. Which makes me think that Columbia MAY be sending out decisions tmmrw but are told to say next week just in case.

Sounds good! Did you graduate Columbia undergrad in 2018? So did I! lol
I didn’t but see how my username could be miss leading lol

ALSO to clarify - I was told post II decisions were next week so I’m assuming that’s why the pre II Rs just hit

I was also told this about post-II decisions so that's two sources

So it’s .... not tomorrow? :bigtears:

This is my #1 choice. I really hope they accept me lmao

I’m with you. I’ve been saving updates/LOI in case I get waitlisted, and am now panicked that I would have wasted the chance in case I get rejected.

Good luck, hopefully future classmate!

Todays the day boys. I can feel it in my bones. They thrum with potential energy

I sort of having the same feeling in my bones. My brain however, says we should trust the person who told us that it would be next week given that it corresponds with what MSAR says (March 2).

Here’s to hoping my bones know better than my brain!
