Has anyone noticed that on the interview schedule it says both morning and afternoon interviews but on the information tab it only says morning interviews? Just curious if the day actually ends at 5pm for booking flights home
I’d recommend giving yourself a cushion. They may run late. Don’t schedule a flight too close to the end time.

So one in the afternoon and one in the morning? Or you could get both during either time block?
I'm fairly certain it's one in the morning and one in the afternoon, not both together.

My kid asked me to post...
Has anyone after their interview commuted to JFK and or Newark to catch a flight? I know interviews run until 5pm'ish.
What method of travel (shuttle, train, Uber, etc) did you use, and what time did you arrive at which airport?
Kid. Trying to decide between 8pm Newark, or 9:15pm JFK flight and not have to spend the night.
TIA.

This may be a good resource for your kid:

If your kid is fine taking public transport, then I recommend taking it to JFK. I've done it several times before and it was totally fine. They can use google maps and plan accordingly to help figure out a route, time, and which airport they should select. They can do that for public transport or driving...We don't know how "well" your child travels.

edit: Have they ever traveled alone?? I've been travelling alone for MANY years, and traveled a ton before that with family and friends. I know you're trying to help, but this is something they could have easily googled imho...

LGA is good for public transpo since the M60 goes from the airport to the university and only cost 2 bucks

That's a good protip! I just tend to fly into JFK because of the bargain flights I'm able to find when I book, so that's all I know haha.

A big caveat I have to say though is LGA is disgusting when it comes to delays so don’t plan on flying out on time. Not sure if it’s gotten better though
I've heard this from a bunch of people. I've had great experiences flying from the west coast to JFK and Newark.

Thanks for the response. Kid has global independent travel experience. The crux of my questions was more about timing, and needing to catch a specific choice of two flights after the 5pm interview end time. Heading west, direct flights are very limited later in the evening, otherwise I would have included LGA in the original post.

Debt free tuition for need based grants....
UPDATE:
Here is the exact reference link for how Columbia VCP&S handles need-calculations and parent income reporting requirements for any Columbia grant considerations. Pages 2,6, and 8 are good skimming points.

SPOILER:
EVEN IF YOU ARE MARRIED WITH KIDS, unless you are 35years of age, you will need to report parent income for consideration of grants coming from Columbia to meet expenses beyond EFC. They seem to use the standard federal determination for EFC (estimated family contribution).

Can anyone who interviewed already comment on what time the day actually ended?

Hi All! I have been reading on older forums that ITA emails should be sent via the portal. The only option to communicate via the portal is by uploading a document as an app update. If anyone has sent an ITA email, is this how you did it? Thanks!

Yeah, and several people only had morning interviews so they were done at 2 with the end of the tour. However, they can still give you a 4:30 interview, so I would plan as if it’ll go to 5:00

were you interviewing for bassett by any chance?

For describing your most important leadership positions, did you keep it short to mention several, or did you focus on one or two?

Was that question optional? I dont remember it being on the secondary

Out of curiosity, has anyone gotten an II for Bassett yet? It didn’t seem like it from this thread but I could be wrong

I'm wondering about this, too. Does anyone know?
Listen. If you are in the area, just tell them. Who cares whether they are receptive or not. You are showing your interest. Why is everyone so timid about wanting to go to a top school??? Isn't that why you are applying. I completely don't understand this... So contrary to human psychology.

People are hoping to avoid negatively impacting their application, which should be understandable.
