Secondary prompt:
If you are not a Louisiana Resident, please describe your connection, if any, to Louisiana.

Please detail any aspects of your background, education, upbringing, and/or experiences you feel would add value to a medical school class and the field of medicine. It is important that you avoid using proxies. For example, avoid simply stating that you grew up in a rural setting. Instead explain what value your having grown up in a rural setting would add to a medical school class and the field of medicine. (3000)

Good luck to everyone applying!

No secondary yet. Seems to be different than the last few years (e-mailed out this time).

Can any current students comment on their clerkship style/offerings? Are there opportunities to perform clerkships in a rural setting?

I can't find it on their website, but I know 2 science LORs and 1 non-science/science LOR, can we include a 4th LOR from employer?

not unless you have strong ties to state
What would be considered a strong tie? I'm applying because one of the doctors I shadowed went to LSU and I only live 3 hours away from the school. I haven't spent more than a week at a time in the state. Any help is appreciated!

you live 3 hours away, but never spend more than 1 hr in louisiana? Do you live close to a border?

for reference, i lived and grew up in louisiana, and consider that a strong tie if that helps. Also you can just call the school to be reallysure

I never spend more than a week in Louisiana. I live in Dallas, so I'm geographically close. Yea, an in-state person obviously has strong ties but that's why they don't have to answer that question.

from msar, they hardly accept any OOS, so i'd guess the 1 OOS who did get in probably just moved away from louisiana. So I'd say you don't count

Anyone hear anything about interview invites going out yet for RD?

Anyone here from Shreveport or know the area/can recommend places to look into or avoid for lodging? A friend has a residency interview and neither of us can find any info on SDN except here so far ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (sorry I know it isn't exactly the correct thread/forum)

The area near the medical center isn't the safest, and there aren't too many hotels super close. If you're looking for safe and don't mind driving a bit, looking near the Boardwalk/Casinos in Bossier or around Youree/Bert Kouns/70th wouldn't hurt. If you want to stay downtown, look close to Spring/Texas. There are some hotels near the airport but honestly I would avoid that area. It can get sketchy in parts and isn't exactly a fun part of town.

Under consideration 08/26
When should I expect to hear anything? Too early? Too late?
