2019-2020 Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone with the fee waiver know how long it takes for them to verify it? Did you receive an email that it was verified?
If I remember correctly, I just checked the box on the secondary and my waiver was verified a couple of days later. I didn't receive an email update about it though.

Is anyone else having issues with the Technical Standards page on the supplemental app? Every time I try to scroll down to the sign it the page reloads and won't let me click on the text box. I've tried 3 separate times.

What browser are you using? I was having the same problem in Safari and then tried Google Chrome and it worked!

Man, this community essay is kinda annoying. It's also 500 words which makes it even more annoying 😒

So here is a brief summary of my situation. I am from Florida and all of my extended family lives in Michigan. I had a lot of stuff going on my freshman (mom has congestive heart failure) year and was recesses from MSU for Poor grades. I then earned a 3.7 my sophomore year 3.96 Junior and 3.86 senior year. I have 515 MCAT. My cGPA is 3.18 and my sGPA is 3.6 have tons of volunteer work and I explained why I didn’t perform well at MSU. I really would love to go back to MSU and it would be a really special thing for me. What do you guys think about my chances. My lizzy m is 65.8

Also I returned to Florida for school.

You will get in. As long as you have the numbers you will get in.

Does anyone have an estimate on when MSUCOM will start sending out interviews?
Based on users reporting on SDN, these are the dates past non-OSMP applicants received an interview invite.

2018-2019: July 24
2017-2018: July 14
2016-2017: July 7

So it could be any day now!

For the additional information essay, are you treating it as a "diversity" essay? I am not sure what else to write about. I already talked about hobbies, activities, etc. on the primary.

I am trying to figure this out too and dont know what exactly to write. It does state "
his may include major life achievements or explanations of academic or non-academic discrepancies on your application. You may also include hobbies, interests, or work experience" of which I have alot of as a non-trad applicant. I dont think I should leave it blank.

Yes, I wouldn’t leave it blank. Make yourself interesting.

Seems like some interviews were sent out on July 24th last cycle
Tomorrow they should start sending out interview invites if they abide by the same schedule as last year!

Hopefully the same as last year. Seems like each year they have been delaying by a week

My hand is shaking right now. this is my first II and it feels surreal. Best of luck to all of you
Congrats!! Did you get a call, or was it an email?

Got an email saying my app is complete but nothing else.
Hoping for an interview!

For the supplemental deadline, do you just have to get the secondary in by that date or is that for recommendation letters as well?

I submitted my secondary on 7/7, and got an email saying it is received on 7/7. Later on, the portal shows application complete on 7/8.
But on the email that was sent to me after submitting secondary said " You have successfully submitted your secondary application...Once your application is complete, you will receive an email confirming your completed application."
However, I still haven't receive an email saying it's complete. Only the portal shows that it is complete. Anyone has the same issue?

I got an email after my app was complete that says "Your application to Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is now complete. Our admissions team meets regularly to review applications..."

Maybe double-check your inbox and junk mail. If nothing, maybe send an email/call.

OK! thanks for the quick reply! 🙂

Does anyone know how many MMI stations are usually there in the interview?

Anyone have a recommended length for the clinic experiences on the secondary? Is 150 - 250 words too long? I know we've already talked about these in our primary application but I did not see any recommended or required word/character count.

A typical MMI will have between 6-10 stations. I won't answer specific questions about MSU since I signed a piece of paper saying I wouldn't 🤐... Though I don't actually remember anyways since it's been a few years!
