Long-time lurker who is also constantly checking the portal and this page .... I think the majority of decisions come out early in the week, based on my own communications with them and the timing of other peoples' acceptances!

I've been checking like everyday too. Does anyone know if they are generous with need aid or merit scholarships?
I have a hypothesis that maybe they had not yet accepted their top 10%. Now after that wave of acceptances last week, we'll be the 80% still on hold until April 30th. Maaaaybe just maybe, thats my own personal hypothesis that helps me check my email/portal 10 times a day instead of 30 haha :lame:

Not sure the numbers make sense there unfortunately. If they're accepting 160 (correct me if I'm wrong there) then that would mean only 16 people have been accepted so far which I think is way too low of a number.

I believe the “top 10%” being referred to is the top 10% of interviewees who are usually accepted outright with no hold. So with ~570 people interviewed that would be ~57 people.

The current "accepted" OHSU som 24 page has 100 people on it, only 15ish of which are student gov't from med23. So 85 + the folks who don't have a FB.

Long time lurker, first time actually posting anything. I'm currently on hold as well, but according to their class profile online it says that they actually end up offering 230+ spots... I'm guessing this is including the spots they offer to those on their wait list, but I thought that was an interesting stat considering that their class size is around 150.

To anyone else also going insane, it looks like there's 116 members of that group now

They accept around 230+ people every year, the facebook page is not an accurate assessment of how full the class is. It includes people who have decided to go elsewhere, med students from other classes being helpful and answering questions, etc. We've been waiting this long, we can survive another couple weeks of waiting purgatory!!

Has anyone that was accepted around March 30th received the second email yet with the forms to complete?

It's funny because I have been stalking this forum for so long (mostly looking for updates on acceptances and such). But I wait until now to create an account and actually contribute lol. Either way, happy to be here. Is anyone else feeling weird that a decision we've wanted for so long could come in the next two weeks?

Interviewed in Jan, put on hold exactly six weeks later at the end of Feb. Been checking my email/portal every day since (no joke). Hoping that many of us who only have one choice for school this year get the A they need.

🙂

I’ve been a long time lurker here as well 🙂
Does anyone know if OHSU accepts letters of intent?

It's hard to be 100% sure they aren't just saying this so that we don't all pester them with new info all the time, but they say that after the committee discusses you and puts you on hold there won't be any more changes to your standing

I can confirm your score does not change. The MD/MPH program director gives a little bit more information on this but its a number score (and then rank) and it stays the same throughout the cycle.

There's certainly no harm in writing a nice email, but they were pretty clear at my interview day. According to Dr. David Mansoor (who I have in my notes as adcom chair, but I can't find any corroborating information online) you are assigned a numerical score following discussion of your file by the adcom, as FuturePedsDoc said above. He even broke down the total score into percentages. I am not 100% sure I am remembering the numbers right, but I think it was at least close to 20% MCAT and GPA, 30% MMI scores, and 50% a subjective score assigned by the committee on the day you are discussed which is about your "preparedness" which seemed to be be a combination of personal interview, experiences, and written responses on your application. All applicants are ranked based on scores and ties are broken. I don't remember any detail about tiebreaks, but he was clear this would be unchanged by any further information. Again, I don't mean to dissuade anyone from writing a nice email, but just wanted to share the information I remember from my interview day in case we received different levels of detail.

Does anyone know how long summer between MS1 and MS2 is? Just curious and can't find a reputable resource online.

Who thinks this Friday will be the first wave of acceptances & then the ranked waitlist will follow next Thursday.

If it’s anything like past years, I think this Friday will be the big day.

For those of us who don’t hear anything, the anxiety of waiting another week to get your R or waitlist # will be insane....

The previous years had a weekend at an awkward time so I'm torn between thinking it'll be this Friday since it's been Fridays in the past or next Tuesday because that's the workday before the waitlists have gone out

OHSU has an atypical schedule, being that we take step before most schools, and begin clinicals before most schools. We have a fall, winter, spring, and summer break. All of them except winter are only 1 week, but we also have enrichment weeks after EVERY block which are essentially another vacation (assuming you don't fail a test). So we have just as much break time, it's just spread out more.

Thanks for your input! It makes sense. I figured the summer break would be like this because OHSU has condensed preclinical, but wanted to know for sure.
