2019-2020 University of Chicago

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know when the next wave of calls goes out?

edit: Congrats to you all who got accepted!!

I cant believe I got accepted! Excited to meet everyone at Second Look!

Congratulations. Did you just get the call? I am wondering if they are still calling.

Also, did anyone with an A today NOT send a Letter of Interest? I feel like the Director of Admissions during my interview gave a big hint they wanted to hear from us. I already sent thank you letters the day after my interview, but no formal Letter of Interest.

I'm garbage and didn't write any letters for any school -- and I got the call this afternoon!

I wrote three thorough thank you letters but have had no communications with them since my interview (8/12)

Multipart question for you acceptees...
Trying to see if they gave us plain traditional applicants any luv yesterday..
A. Are any of you a traditional applicant?
B. Are any of you a traditional applicant and non urm?
C. Are any with scholarship a traditional applicant?
D. Are any with scholarship a traditional applicant and non urm?

There is still hope for November round.
Last year Nov acceptances also even included some with scholarship.

me and my friend each got called by our admissions faculty interviewer, which both were deans. Or, Emily, I think she's the director. It was Dr. Marcangelo and Emily Sharp-Kellar.

Congrats to all acceptees! Did anyone who interviewed mid or late September hear back?

Anyone else interviewed mid-september? Tryna decide if I got passed over or if they just didn't get to us this round

Hey does anyone know if the full tuition scholarship is only for tuition or for full coa?

Edit: Also, does anyone know how many students were accepted so far?
It is full tuition, I am not sure of any programs outside of UCLA’s geffen that are true “full ride” including COA based solely on merit.

Based on SDN having like 15 reported As...probably 20-30 have been accepted? They will eventually accept around 250. They have a very low post acceptance yield.

NYU had at least one student report a full scholarship and some MS1 chimed in saying they had several in their batch.

Do you think some schools, particularly this one, will give students some need based aid (that aren't loans) to cover living expenses? or is that just not done?

Also, 250? I thought they only admitted 90 students? Or am I confusing this with something else?

Do you also happen to know how many full tuition scholarships U Chicago gives out?

Sorry for all the questions lol

I'm also wondering this myself. Look through the threads from the past couple of cycles, it seems that the majority of acceptances on October 15th were accompanied with a full or half tuition scholarship. The amount of full/half scholarships given out in November and December decreased substantially (at least that's what it seems like)

To answer that last question—260-ish are accepted because not everyone decides to go, so that’s the number they need to fill a class size of 90!

I'm curious why you say 20-30. I thought 1 SDN = about approx 5 actual.
