I was wondering about the same thing @Jappa ! Prior to the interview season I didn't know that much about the many different types of residency programs available. Like the post above states, many residency programs require a transitional year/prelim year (depending on specialty and program), which in that case also has the PGY 2 program listed on the match list. There are only about 8 people (out of ~250) on the list with a transitional year/preliminary year who did not have a PGY 2 position listed. I'm sure each case is different and why those people decided to pursue that specific opportunity but I did find these resources that were somewhat helpful!

Thanks for this!

Just got an II here! IS, complete 9/1. Can hardly believe it, I was convinced they were pretty much done giving out IIs. Any advice from current students/people who have already interviewed?

Do you mind sharing your stats?

Alternate list today 11/25. Do people send like updates and stuff if waitlisted?

been complete since late july...i was wondering if i should email them or if it's better to just keep waiting? i have an academic update i wanted to send at the end of this month but i just wanted to see if they're receptive to that kind of thing.

Yes, WSU welcomes updates. If you have not yet heard back yet, feel free to write them a letter of interest. Make sure to reaffirm your commitment to medicine and update the adcom w/any new "medical" things you've done to show you are continuing to "better yourself" in the medical profession. I sent a letter of intent (slightly different, sent after being waitlisted for a while) and was accepted 2 weeks later.

Edit: upload it to your applicant profile, WSU does NOT accept anything emailed to them directly

I’ve been researching about the interview and heard some people in admissions say a few years ago that the interview with the faculty member is about an hour, while the student interview and MMI portion is about 30 minutes each. Is this still true?
