I know some schools show interview/rejection decisions in their portals so I mostly was looking to see if my application had been reviewed already.

Pretty sure it's acceptances won't come before October 15, but I think rejections can still be sent out before then!
 
I got an email from LinkedIn saying how someone from UB searched me recently lol. Anyone else get the same?
 
Does anyone who had their interviews this cycle have any advice? This is my first interview ever and I’m really nervous.
 
I have not yet interviewed here but from my experience with other schools don’t be nervous!!!! Unlike an entry level job that you might be under-qualified for where you have to sell yourself and know you are low-key in over your head (a position I believe anyone in the professional world has been in at one point or another) with medical school you know you are qualified otherwise they wouldn’t have invited you for an interview. You are going to tell YOUR story which you’ve been living and telling your whole life. Know your why that school, know your application, and I suggest having some coherent opinions on healthcare/ ethics in healthcare in general in case a question like that is asked but they don’t expect you to save the healthcare system or respond like an ethics PhD. Be confident because you should be!!! You are interviewing in September, some people don’t interview until March or not at all, change your perspective from this is nerve racking to finally after being just numbers and words on paper I can control the narrative and show who I am.

Thank you for the words of advice! Reading this actually really calmed me down a little bit. I'm actually pretty confident about most of my application but the one thing I need more help with is medical ethics/healthcare in general. Do you have any suggestions as to which resources I could use to prepare myself a bit more for these types of questions? Any books or anything? I actually don't really know too much about healthcare policies/ethics and I'm really worried this would come off as a red flag.

Two books I truly enjoyed that were informative were “the healing of America” by TR Reid about the healthcare system and Complications by Atul Gawande (I suggest reading all of his books, he is an Excellent author and each book he’s written makes you think about what it means to practice medicine in a unique light) hope this helps!

Hi! I do not want to scare you by writing this, but I just want you to be prepared. I had a wonderful experience with one of my interviews and it was exactly how others here have described it...my interviewer was just interested in talking to me and hearing MY story. We talked a lot about my activities section, and not even in relation to medicine. It went really well.

HOWEVER, my other interview was a disaster. The interviewer drilled me on ethical questions (& very specific details regarding them, ex. state laws/procedures), current world events (specifically world, NOT USA and NOT covid related), and 'traditional' pre-med activities I was lacking. It was a disaster and I honestly think I will get wait-listed because if it- I fell flat on my face. I think this was an outlier, especially because my other interview went so well and went like others have described. But do yourself a favor and at least brush up on some common ethical topics and world events- hopefully you won't be asked anything of the sorts and then you can come back here and laugh at me for suggesting it. Good luck!!

Practice all sorts of questions, with your friends and also just alone recording/talking at your computer (and then re-watching and critiquing yourself). I found this doc to be really helpful - by the time I got through half of each section, I had a good idea of how to tell my stories/examples and a sense of time as well.

I believe they invite you back for a third interview if there is a big discrepancy between the scores of the first two.

For those who interviewed, did you fill out the post-interview survey? Do we have to? I cannot seem to login. Did they give us a UBIT username and password?

I sent them to the people I interviewed with and to the coordinator, just out of politeness. Didn't get a response to all of them, but some responded and nicely at that! I don't think it hurts to send a thank you, especially if it's sincere.

I emailed both my interviewers afterward and they both responded very nicely! My student interviewer encouraged me to email her again if I had any questions. Don't know if it helped but it's a nice thing to do!

I interviewed a while ago and wasnt given my interviewers information, only their names. I tried googling but couldnt find anything!

If you look up your student interviewer's name on the UB directory you'll find their email. If you can't find the faculty email you could always email Laura in admissions to forward it to them!
 
II received earlier today. completed secondary 9/1. IS. ORM. 3.7/3.68. 503/522
 
They have student panels every Friday, the only applicants invited to that specific panel are the students who interviewed that week I believe.

Hi all! This is correct! I’m a current M1 on these panels. No need to worry they are strictly to answer your questions and get an idea what student life is like at UB! Plus it’s fun to meet other applicants, some who may become your future classmates! Only those who have interviewed are invited to these Zoom meetings held on Fridays
 
Hey does anyone know if they will he sending decisions this Thursday on the 15th? I interviewed a few weeks ago

Well at least I can relax today. Thanks, it's weird that they're doing this since they have a history of quick turnarounds.

I was also told in my interview that decisions typically come out 10/15, but later on during the Q&A panel I heard the same thing about late November/early December as a possible timeframe to hear any decisions.
