Are you OOS or IS? Because I don't think they've sent out any OOS secondaries yet. I emailed to double check that they received my app and they said:
"Thank you for contacting CUSM-SOM.
There are no updates to your application at this moment.
If the committee requires additional information they will reach out via email."
Im IS.

same I just saw my II and the only open dates were late January ... did you receive a email confirming your interview time and date?
I only saw availability on 1/29/2020 at various times...were there earlier dates and I messed up somehow and didn't scroll or was literally only 1 date available

No email after scheduling the interview! I believe others on here said an email is sent to us after 2-3 weeks with more information!

And I saw earlier Jan dates, but they must have filled up!

II today! Submitted my secondary 9/15, IS in the IE region. Scheduled my interview for 1/15, but I didn't get a confirmation email.

Dang losing hope for this school already being that they have interviews all booked up to January ):

I emailed the admissions office immediately after getting the II w/o submitting my secondary, to clarify what's going on. So they should be aware of it, as soon as they check their email on Monday.

Update on this. I didn't get a response to my email yet, so I called the admissions office. For anyone who received an II without submitting a secondary – it doesn't seem to be an error (though they didn't explain why). I was told that the II is valid, but I should still complete/submit the secondary application. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This just feels so unprofessional... bummed I spent the money on the secondary and no II, but oh well... Congrats to everyone who has gotten an II so far!

I agree. But my II is also worthless unless I end up spending that money, too. Hang in there – it's still fairly early. This is my only II so far...so I need to believe that lol.

II received today LM 73.2 WARS 94 IS

Did not submit a secondary, so I guess my primary app was good enough? lol

EDIT: proof of II w/o 2º belowView attachment 319122

Update: I called the admissions office to let them know about the situation. They confirmed that this was an error and that the II was sent "preemptively." However, they also said that I would just need to submit the 2º app and I will be re-offered the II

Congrats to those who got IIs without the 2*. Very glad for your sake that it was not an error!

OH MY GOD I just logged into my portal to submit my secondary and I was offered an interview before even submitting my secondary?!! I see other people said it wasn't a mistake but I feel like theres no way its not?!! Im shaking im so happy but I feel like I can't get too excited because it feels too good to be true... did everyone not get this?!

I did, but one person said they were told it WAS an error so I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else also called.. this just seems too good to be true

Im sure it was an error but I wouldn’t worry they will probably grant you the interview. I would schedule for the earliest date and call them to double check. What dates were avail for you?

Jan 29!

Yeah, they can't seem to get their story straight on whether it was an error or not. It almost certainly was (I was told by one person in the admissions office that it wasn't, but later received an email that it was). But they still granted the interview as long as the secondary was submitted asap.

I called yesterday and he told me that it wasn't, and that my primary app was just good enough to receive the secondary, but to still submit it!

Yeah, that's what the person I spoke with told me, too. And then I subsequently received an email that said, "We had a technical glitch last week and you received both the supplemental application and the interview invitation at the same time."

Does anyone know how may students they plan on admitting this year? Each year they seem to be admitting more and more students.

2018 Entering Class: 64
2019 Entering Class: 98
2020 Entering Class: 130

I also got that email, but it also said that my interview is still confirmed I just need to submit my secondary in the next 48 hours

For those of you that have an interview sometime this month, have any of your received any communication from CUSM regarding the format, times, interview day schedule, online platform, etc?

My interview is October 23 but I haven't received any information telling me what to expect.

My interview isnt till January but they told me over the phone not to expect to hear anything till two weeks out from the interview, so I'd assume you'd hear something in the next few days. Good luck!

Just got a response from CUSM Admissions.

For those of us scheduled for interviews towards the end of October, we can expect to receive correspondence from them sometime next week with information regarding our interview day.

I just got the email today, my interview is Monday:

Please be logged in to the event no later than ten minutes prior to the start of your interview session. This event will require you to be logged in the event, with your video camera on for the duration of the event.

Candidate Photos

Previously, as part of our on-site interview days, we have taken a photo of our candidates in white coats. These photos are for internal use and are NOT used in the selection process. There will be an opportunity at the beginning of the Interview Day for you to introduce yourself, and we would like to capture a photo of you at that time. You will be cued by a member of the Admissions staff when it is time for your photo opportunity at the end of your introduction. If you prefer not to be photographed that is fine. You can either let us know in advance, or just say “No thanks” when the moderator asks “Are you ready to let us take a screen shot?”

Team-Based Learning (TBL)

As part of your Virtual Interview Day, you will be placed in a team, and you will have the opportunity to engage in a virtual, Team-Based Learning exercise with a member from our faculty. When you log in to the Zoom session ten minutes before the start of the event, an admissions staff member will provide you with a unique User ID as well as instructions for the TBL exercise during your virtual Interview Day. Please note that you will not be evaluated in the TBL exercise. This is solely for you to experience what TBL is like and we hope you enjoy it.

I think you have the wrong forum. This is for the California University of Science and Medicine (MD program) I think your interview is for the California Health Science University (DO program) the names are very similar so I’d understand how you’d be confused. Btw congrats and good luck on your interview!!

lol, thanks for catching that, my b. i applied to both schools and am subscribed to both forums and didn't read hahaha

would it be bad to state an interest in surgery for this app? idk if they are focused on primary care. their website doesnt rlly mention such a focus

I might be too late but I talked all about wanting to be a surgeon on my secondary and I received an II. Hope this helps!

For those that interviewed yesterday:
How long after scheduling your interview did it take to receive emails from the school with further information?
Curious because I interview on 10/23 and have yet to receive any follow-up email.
Thanks for any help and good luck!

I don’t think anyone has interviewed yet. As far as I know the first interviews are on 10/23 but I could be wrong. I also have an interview on 10/23 and haven’t received anything. Based on past replies it seems maybe this week we might get something.

Got it! Thanks for the reply and best of luck 🙂

After reading this thread I emailed admissions because I still hadn't received a secondary. They said they requested one from me 8/21 and that I may not have gotten it because I had the wrong email in AMCAS which is impossible because I got every other school's correspondence. Then I got CUSM's secondary literally 1 minute later. Soooo basically I recommend emailing them if you are concerned! Seems like their admissions is all messed up this year. Can't wait to turn in my secondary 2 months late now😡
