2020-2021 Colorado

and the fact that it doesn't change even if you become a CO resident...............................
Oh dang, really? I didn't know that. As an IS applicant I'm delighted about the IS rates, but if I was OOS I'd def just wait a year to apply and move here first to establish residency. 😀

Has anyone completed the interview specifically for the rural program? Kinda wondering what the vibe of it is? The email didn't get very specific haha

Yeah, but this plan only works if you know you are going to get accepted, haha! Otherwise, you would have moved in vain!

I am jealous of the IS rate, but honestly my state schools do not offer much better prices than the OOS price tag at CU, so this is not a huge concern of mine. When you do your interview, make sure to have your Zoom set to see everybody's faces when the financial aid reps states that establishing residency in Colorado will not convert the tuition to the IS rate. You can tell who the OOS candidates are based on who has visible reactions to the news. One candidate quickly asked for the rep to repeat that part just to make sure that she heard it right! 🤣

Good luck!

Lol this was definitely me when they talked about financial aid. The shock grew when they mentioned 6k being the max need based financial aid for oos.

Psshh, there is no "moved in vain" when it comes to ColoRADo! Then you'd have a year to explore a totally awesome state, play in the mountains every other weekend... climb, run, bike, repeat!

Wait, I mean... It sucks here. Too expensive. Very high incidence of skin cancer. Definitely don't move here. 😉

For those of you who have interviewed, what is the group interview an group exercise like? Any tips on how to prepare and what exactly it entails?

Hey there, bud. If you look a couple of pages back, you will find various peep's advice and reflection for this interview. The consensus is that the group portion is a very laidback activity, you shouldn't overthink it.

My advice for group stuff is always the same: Be respectful and focus more on collaborative thinking than the final product. Nothing specific to prepare for, just be yourself. Good luck! 🙂

Does anyone know the December Interview Dates? Acceptances for prior interviews seem to go out on interview days so I'm wondering when I should be nervous 🙂

Does anyone know what the "Blitz Talks" are for MSTP?

I believe the next interview day is December 11th. It appears they take a break for the holidays and start up again on January 8th. Good luck!

Anyone (esp. previous applicants) have an idea if we can expect additional IIs to go out this year? Know it’s a long shot to ask here but I’m a non-trad applicant so probably a bit out of the loop - any info is helpful!
I don't think that they are done with interview invites this year. I believe that they interview into February, and nobody on this thread has claimed those dates yet. You are still alive! Best of luck!

Thank you! I was hoping this was the case. Was more wondering whether i should keep anxiously checking my inbox / portal for updates or if best to just put it out of my mind til January (but who am I kidding, I’m going to keep checking 3 times daily anyway)

Updated numbers on the admissions tracker yesterday:

How are my IS peeps doing? I was complete in July, but haven't heard anything back yet. I've been accepted to a top 30 school so I know my app isn't hot garbage, but nothing yet from my IS school.

SAME it is so frustrating. Since we only have one allopathic med school option I wish that they would be more favorable to us in-staters.

I've talked about this before on other threads, but being from Colorado and Utah is tough. A fairly large in state applicant school and only one state school that isn't extremely IS biased make it pretty tough to succeed.

People always talk about California being tough for premeds, and it certainly is, but I really feel for my Colorado homies out there trying to make it work!

If today is an interview day, wondering if today will also be a decision release day like last time...
Good luck to all.
Was wondering the same thing. I remember when I interviewed Nov 20th they were giving out calls during the interview day. I hope so wow this would be a dream for me!!!!

Finished the interview here.

I have to say, compared to their undergraduate, they seem to be more understanding and their program is really well thought out.

My one-on-one interview was scheduled for the day's end so I was a little bit tired but overall, it was chill and conversational. Hopefully, things will go well.

Do not stress over the group interview or exercise, they are really well designed and you will see many many great applicants-- none seem to be a typical "gunner" style.

Is anyone else starting to worry that they have a low CASPer score? I thought I did fine but I was also fumbling and typing relatively slowly. If this is the case it would be so disappointing that one test can unravel years of work and passion and i will never know.
I feel you - it's really frustrating to not have certainty of what your CASPer score looks like. I'm a re-applicant... but my last application cycle was 2013 (yes, I'm old). The result of this cycle doesn't take away from your work and passion and you can always re-apply. One test will never define you. You never know, you might even get carried away doing something else before coming back to medicine 🙂

Did y'all send thank you notes? I'm thinking about doing one for my individual interview since that was pretty chatty, but for the group exercise and interview they were just in the background other than asking the prompts so I feel like there's not a lot to thank them for lol (other than their time).

I also sent TYs to just the individual interviewers!

Just guessing here but thinking it probably only matters if you do really poorly or really well. Kind of an either end of the bell curve thing.

I personally did not send any TY notes/emails (just said thank you to all interviewers directly).

Will there be more interviews? *tears*
If you scroll up, they've only interviewed about half as many as they interviewed last year so, I think it's safe to assume, there's a lot more love to go around, this cycle is undoubtedly delayed more than any other as schools adjust. Very few have kept the same pace imo. So trying to calm my neuroticism and angst with that
