I got my secondary in the first wave, but they caught me at the wrong time and I’ve been too busy. Do y’all think it’s still worth submitting?

Might as well....if you really want to go there and have the funds for the secondary just submit it. Nothing to lose. btw when was the first wave?

Does anyone know how to withdraw my application from here? I never even submitted the secondary and will not be submitting it, and I keep getting emails about how they're still reviewing my application. I feel like it's once every couple of days I get this email, and it makes my heart jump every time. I've already emailed the admissions email asking to withdraw, but I never got a response.

Go to your AAMC application and there’s a button that says withdraw app

Oh damn, sorry my bad! Then probably email or call them

No biggie!! I spend my free time scourering "application horror stories" and came across a few unfortunate souls who didn't know how much power that withdraw button holds.
Just block them from your emails and move on.

That's a good idea, thank you!

Anyone know the best way to contact admissions? Like which email is best or phone number to get a response?

On the secondary website it says: View your status via "View Your Checklist". Where is this located? Also does anybody know the best time to contact the admissions office?

I’m having the exact same issues. All it says is view details and view form html. I am so confused 😅

Does anyone know any details about Mhearrys Masters in Health Science? The website literally only lists that they have one, the application fee and deadline. No details on curriculum, full time/part time, nothing lol....like we need to know what this program is about. Any details, info, links is much appreciated.

I’m in the program now! What would you like to know?

The Courses offered, the course schedule, class size, and maybe a brief synopsis of what each course is about.
Its just a one year program and at the end if earn a 3.5 and a 503 mcat you'll matriculate into medical school. The courses you'll take are cell biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, anatomy, microbiology, and pharmacology. You'll have class everyday but the times vary from either 8-12, 8-2, or 8-4. The class size changes every year but this year our class is about 130 people. After the fall semester you'll take a kaplan MCAT prep course during winter break if you came in with less than a 503. If you have a 503 already you'll do research.

It would be nice if it was offered online! Many graduate-level programs are virtual even after COVID.

Thank you! So are there lab based courses involved? Also that's interesting. If there are already 130 people in the class, what if theoretically everyone in that class wants to pursue med school at Meharry? Do they just accept those people and not even accept outside applicants?

The 130 people includes some pre-dental students as well. It’s not all Med students.

Ahh gotcha. Ok so do you know the requirements for admission to the 1 year program as far as GPA and MCAT/standardized tests? And is what's taught in this program the same intri info you'd learn in med school? Like does it give you a leg up or do you still just start from square 1 once you matriculate to the med school?

I don’t know the exact requirements for admission but I can ask. What is taught in the program is a part of the first year Med school curriculum so we’ll be seeing it for the 2nd time while for others it’ll be the first so it is a leg up in a sense.

If you could ask that would be great! It's difficult to get in touch with anyone there. Are you comfortable sharing what your stats were?

Does Meharry do pre-II Rs? or should we start assuming not hearing back is a soft R? asking for myself 😢
Dude no one has heard back lol. Honestly I'd say anticipate hearing back early spring....there were like 4 or 5 people who reported II and then total silence ever since. I heard they are both understaffed and pre-occupied with helping run covid testing centers, etc.. I know its frustrating and nerve wracking....I find myself vacillating between cool as a cucumber and a chicken with my head cut off with severe imposter syndrome lol

Yea I had a 3.6 and a 497. Lots of leadership positions, internships, and tons of volunteering.
Oh that's encouraging! I have a 3.53 and 502. Lots of science TA, research, volunteer and shadowing so hopefully I'll be accepted either to the medical school or to this program this cycle. Thank you for all the insight!

It's crazy how silent they've been. I know the SDN population is not representative of the overall applicant pool but dang lol no one else has reported an II in almost a month. I am trying to stay optimistic here. In this case I am just hoping no news is better than a pre-II R.

True, this population isnt completely representative but I've talked with several current students who didnt hear back until April, May and even JUNE

No I think this school is just super delayed. I interviewed months ago and called asking about the normal timeline and the lady just told me I’ll hear back before enrollment 💀. So definitely don’t take it as an R I think they’re just really understaffed and working with a longer timeline than most

Hi! I’m pretty new to SDN but thought I’d share...I received an email Thursday night offering an interview on Friday. The interviewer told me that decisions will come out January 15th for anyone who had interviewed up until that point. There’s still time, so I’d say no news is good news for now!

That's good news. When did you submit and what were your stats?

I'm not sure if I actually sent my last message but would you mind sharing your submission date and stats?

Does anyone keep getting this email. I keep getting one at least once a week. a few days ago I got 2 emails in a row which were only a few minutes apart with the same generic message and they haven't even offered me a secondary. Is there a glitch in their system?

"On behalf of the School of Medicine Admissions Committee, I wish to thank you again for the time and effort taken in submitting your AMCAS application for admission to the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College.
If you are receiving this email, please note that that your application is under review. The Admissions Committee completes a holistic screening and review process. Once the review of your application has been completed, and all supporting documents have been received, you will be notified with a status update.
We will not review any letters of intent or other application updates at this time. Additionally, because of the large volume of applications, individual status updates can not be given via email or phone. You will receive written communication when an update is available.
Thank you again for your patience and continued interest in Meharry Medical College.
