I truly think it's just them. Given the caliber of acceptances from other programs among you and other people who had the same issue, that's the only explanation. They might as just well start sending secondaries automatically cause the screening or whatever they claim they're doing isn't working. I know we paid the primary fee to amcas, but meharry would have to run me my money cause that's a waste. It seems like luck regarding who gets a secondary cause the same thing could have easily happened to me or any other applicant which is some BS.

Not necessarily. Not speaking to this individuals situation but say for example an applicant is high stay and good ECs but lacks much on their app thay demonstrates their passion for unserwerved communiities, they may have no problem elsewhere but at a school like Meharry that takes that very seriously, the app may not convince them enough to proceed with the applicant. It's definitely not an exact science though.
I made no mention of stats tbh. I don't think Meharry screen is that strict. It seems like a broad screening process. However, OP does have the stats and experiences to get acceptances at multiple t20/30 schools and a II from another HBCU. I find it hard to believe that OP was not qualified enough to even get a secondary. If this was another school and not Meharry, I would maybe believe he/she got screened out, but Meharry is very disorganized so I'm inclined to believe there might be a possible glitch in their secondary sending system, especially since OP was getting the same "your primary application is under review" email over and over again. And they make it so difficult to even reach them and ask questions regarding your status/application.
They’re running behind but people have still been getting secondaries. Just saying take it with a grain of salt. Admissions is still meeting and reviewing applications because rejections were sent out last week. If you haven’t gotten one that means they’re still interested. Meharry does things at their own pace and they aren’t like a typical school when assessing applicants and they place high importance on areas of the application that doesn’t have anything to do with stats. What we might deem as a strong applicant in general may not be a strong applicant for Meharry. Their system isn’t broken and they screen holistically for a reason. There are also other factors like cycling applications, and MHS class performance. They're also running Covid testing and administering the vaccine which doesn’t help with the timeliness of the admissions process. Admissions is also a small department so they usually don’t have the manpower for someone to answer the phone or the mass amount of emails they get.
I second my good sis right here. Everything she said right here were facts. People with 510 MCATs have been rejected by Meharry because it's not all about the numbers. Does communication suck? Yep. Is it disorganized? Sure is. Is their screening process trash? No. If you haven't gotten a rejection, then you're still in the running. Delayed isn't denied.

Lol honestly not anymore ....meharry was my die hard firdt choice but seeing how this process has been conducted has me a bit disenchanted....honestly now another school that accepted me that wasn't my first choice us now looking REAL good....I love the legacy of Meharry as a black woman. Its such a significant part of the history of the advancement of minorities in this country and I wanted so bad to be apart of that but if this is any indication of how the student experience would be, I say the last thing I want would be if I were accepted and the poor communication and organization to make med school even more of a challenge...I just want better for them ....I WANT them to be outstanding in every way....they have the passion and devotion but the business side of things seems to be severely lacking

It was. People got interviews through May and acceptances through June.
They are not very far at all....I was able to get that they were about 25% of the way through within the last few weeks
Fin aid will email you sometime after acceptance. There's an in-house apply you have to complete each year for it at Meharry

My interview was pretty conversational. Not too intense. He did not have my file due to technical issues so I do not know if that would've changed things. I did take the initiative to talk about some things in my file since he could not see them.

Don't expect any communication soon. They do send rejections as the go so if you haven't gotten one you are still in the running either due to deliberation or just not having gotten to your app yet. I totally get you. I'm a big planner but unfortunately there is no way to plan when it comes to Meharry....unfortunately some people heard back even just a few weeks before classes started last year. It is highly likely yoj may not hear back before the commit to enroll deadline. I'm so sorry you haven't had any luck but if it helps none of us have lol...don't feel guilty about looking into other options bevause it really is going to be up in the air for a WHILE with Meharry. They have about 9k apps this year so that plus covid is going to make them EVEN slower than they have been historically...which is VERY slow

I agree! At this point, people may not risk waiting unless they don't have other offers. The process has been competitive everywhere this year and it's too risky to wait!

Lots of people at Meharry, both med and dent side, have a master's from other schools. Some people even have a Master's from another school and MHS at Meharry
Same... I've tried calling, sent emails, and haven't got a response. Hopefully we will get some form of communication soon.
this is literally my dream school for so many reasons and I really hope they pull through with that II for us 🙁 ive emailed like every email address i could find on their site to get some idea of how much longer interviews will be sent or if they take updates/interest letters but no luck. ugh i really want to go to this school so bad LOLOLOL i just feel like everything about their missions to serve disadvantaged demographics is the most genuine ive seen out of all the schools and i just love them
