Anything a possible man there are probably 30 people with different opinions voting on you!! It’s admissions. Misconception that interview going well = A. I mean I’m sure a lot of us do well on the interviews: the difference is those who crush it and have high stats, high file scores I mean it’s admissions. It’s just frankly hard to get into medical school and the post II admission rate is like 25 percent here prior to waitlist movement they give out 200 A for like 7-750 interviews before waitlist

Not to be neurotic but after getting the acceptance, we just do the matriculation form and pay the fee and we're good right? Is there anything else we need to do?

Thanks!! Complete July 24!! International/Canadian student, 3.88, 515

Lol why are we the same person?? Also got the II !
Speaking of, never done an MMI before, what resources do people use to prepare? Any tips fro VCU’s interview? Thanks in advance !

Wow fellow Canadians! For mine, I watched mmi tutorials on YouTube and also did a few mock interviews. It’s pretty chill overall, also don’t need to talk for the entire duration

if we are ultimately waitlisted, is there anything we can do to help our case? I understand that the WL is ranked and that everyone has an unchanging score, so I imagine that they are not very receptive to updates or letters of interest/intent?

Correct. You’ve done all the work to get your score. From here on out your chances are in gods hands. White hurst cook told us an LOI or letter of interest is just a checked box next to ur name when there going down the list. It’s out of your hands now, your score will dictate if ur picked or not.

are people with recent interviews just interviewing for the waitlist? or will there be another acceptance date?

Do they tier the waitlist?
Nope its ranked by your final score that you got at your admissions committee meeting. You know when you got that message of hold for WL or A? Like 30 people Gave u a score of 1-5 and you got an average number. It is ranked by that score. And nothing will change that score.

Sorry, what I meant was are they open about what tier you fall on the waitlist? Some schools will tell you if you fall in the top/middle/bottom third if you ask them

Got an email this morning saying interview slot opened up tomorrow (3/9) and that availability is on a first come first serve basis. Anyone else have a similar experience? They haven't gotten back to me yet so I don't know if I'm confirmed for the interview yet.

Since I'm a little late to the party I had a couple questions about the interview process:

How do I schedule my interview, do I have to do it through my portal?

What is interview day like? Any tips for the interview since would potentially be my first MMI?

If I do interview, when do students expect to hear back about decisions?

I apologize if my questions have already been answered, and thanks for all your help!!

I'm an amateur but I think you're interviewing for the WL (im hoping to get on the WL), which should be released somewhere between the 14th-20th

In terms of what the interview is like, you basically sit in the Zoom room with your fellow interviewers and the first bit is the ADCOM talks about what the day will be like, then some 1st or second year students come in and give you a virtual tour, then some other students come in and have a Q&A. Then the MMI is basically like they post the question in the main room for everyone to see (interviewees and interviwers) and you have like two minutes to formulate your answer, then they send you to breakout rooms with individual interviewers and you just kind of start discussing. And you do that 7 times and youre done.

Same question here! There was also a background check we had to complete. Feel free to message me

I’ve checked the previous years and read all the threads. It seems that between the last offer date and the WL, some students do get accepted. Some of those acceptances were given to students who interviewed early while other who interviewed after the last offer date. Seems like you have a gd shot at this, kill your interview🙂 !

Thanks for that info and your well wishes!!

Is there any group me or FB for accepted students?
There is a Facebook group. Just search for “Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine class of 2025” and it should pop up. Then it will have you request to be added.

Has anyone else gotten a computer-generated email saying, "VCU School of Medicine Admissions: Application Status Update", then when you go to the portal, there are no changes in sight?

Interviewed 3/9

Mine changed from the info pre interview to a sentence saying ur interview is complete. I think that’s the change they were referring to lol

I was complete in July and marked complete in late August and complete silence since then. wish they rejected me in one of their waves so I didn't have hope

I was complete Sept 9, got the "file review complete" at the end of October and then radio silence. I dont know about you guys but I felt pretty good about my chances of getting an interview here. My stats/gpa above their median, 10k hours of community service (I'm a non-trad who taught and coached in the inner-city for 5 years), and 6k+ hrs of clinical as a scribe. I met with one of the admissions folks before I took my mcat to see if my app had any holes I needed to address before I applied and was told I was a lock for an interview as long as my mcat was >512 so I'm kind of at a loss. It's been a tough cycle ya'll.

I never even got the file review complete notification lol. I will say that is a pretty late complete date.

you're a super strong candidate---this process is so random it hurts..
but I'm in a similar situation and I have strong ties to the city and school so I thought they would send an interview :/

Yeah I was among the privileged applicants who had their winter/spring MCAT cancelled 4 times and couldn't get a date until august so my app didn't get reviewed until my scores came back.

Right? I grew up in Richmond and my family lives here. It just sort of seems this year that a lot of us with MCAT scores at or right above the school's median aren't making the interview cut. I was waitlisted at evms and finally seeing R's from a lot of OOS private schools that I applied to feeling pretty good about. I'm wondering what the median mcats and IS/OOS profiles will look like on MSAR next year.
