Any update on if merit aid has gone out yet?
Last edited:
Uh, aren't they tied for #26 on the latest PD rankings? Not that those are great either, but more meaningful than the composite rankings they change every year for attention. PD rankings are pretty much the same every year.
All of these rankings are super subjective, especially with the "higher" tier schools. I've seen an adcom on here (Goro) say that he thinks of UVA as a T20, while USNews says it isn't a T30 now.... So is it a T40, T30, T25, T20? Dunno..Agreed. I trust PD rankings more than USNWR, though both are very subjective.
One of my classmates asked financial aid the other day for a prospective student and they said "the admissions committee is actively working on this but does not have a set date for when it will go out".Any update on if merit aid has gone out yet?
Not sure if this is what they always give, but we were given Littmann Classic III.Also does anyone know which type of stethoscope we are given?

Did you get an email?Just received merit aid. Submitted SIS information a little over a month ago
Yes via emailDid you get an email?
Ahh sad for me. I was hoping for some more aidYes via email
Dude, this is uncalled for. I'm sorry you didn't get in, but you don't need to keep ragging on the school. You can look up the recordings that the student had of the encounters, he clearly sounds unhinged and unprofessional. This was an internal issue wherein we're not privy to all the information involved by the Committee.![]()
A Medical Student Questioned Microaggressions. UVA Branded Him a Threat and Banished Him from Campus.

Do UVA medical students not have freedom of speech? In addition, is UVA police this god awful? #ACAB
Yep I emailed them asking this morning. They said they would distribute more if people receiving merit withdraw, but as of now it all went out.Has anyone confirmed that all merit aid has gone out?
Apparently all merit aid has gone out for now. Refer to previous post of someone who calledanyone else get merit awards yet? I still havent heard anything
I saw your School X vs Y post and as someone on the UVA WL, I'm not gonna lie, I was so relieved to see that other people were telling you to choose the other school.Withdrew my acceptance. Such a tough decision. Best of luck y'all!
Today is plan to enroll not commit to enroll right? Commit to enroll is July 1st I believe?Fair amount of withdrawals with CTE today to give those on the WL hope 🙂
Yes it is, sorry for the mixup. It is PTE deadline today but CTE has also been opened for people to accept and rescind other offers.Today is plan to enroll not commit to enroll right? Commit to enroll is July 1st I believe?
No worries handsome squidward! I got a little concerned for a quick second though. I know some schools have their CTE deadline like today which is pretty unfair in my opinion.Yes it is, sorry for the mixup. i visited twice lol just walked around campus and there are tons of students bustling about. just don’t knock on the door of the med school haI know we're passed April 30th, but was anyone else planning on visiting before being told not to during second look? I've been fully vaccinated since late January and I was going to take a trip before making a final decision, but wanted to respect what they said. I decided on UVA, but it was definitely a hard decision when I have never been to Charlottesville before.
I think they had to tell us to not come up because if not they'd be somehow responsible for hordes of interested students showing up possibly bringing COVID to the community. Since you know that you've been vaccinated and not had positive contacts I'm sure it's fine for you to go. As the previous responder said there are students running about around campus. I wasn't totally sold til I headed there and saw how beautiful it was 😄. You will have to reach out to a current student if you want to get a quick tour of the med ed buildings.I know we're passed April 30th, but was anyone else planning on visiting before being told not to during second look? I took a trip to Charlottesville to check out the campus before second look. I think it’s fine as long as you walk around with your mask on. I didn’t really go inside any buildings though.I know we're passed April 30th, but was anyone else planning on visiting before being told not to during second look? Per last year's thread, there was an e-mail asking about continued Waitlist interest prior to any WL movement. It might be different this year, but I personally have not gotten that sort of e-mail just yet.Has anyone here heard back from the waitlist yet or know if waitlist movement has begun? Just trying to gauge if I should give up hope at this point🥵

I wouldn't give up, we had a TON of people leave the GroupMe. They most likely will send out that form regarding interest before WL movement occurs.Has anyone here heard back from the waitlist yet or know if waitlist movement has begun? Just trying to gauge if I should give up hope at this point🥵
definitely a super neurotic question, but do you have an estimate of how many?I wouldn't give up, we had a TON of people leave the GroupMe. They most likely will send out that form regarding interest before WL movement occurs.
~30 since April 28 (around CTE)definitely a super neurotic question, but do you have an estimate of how many?
Thanks for essentially making my day. Kinda needed that.~30 since April 28 (around CTE)
Anything for the White Wolf! Thanks for essentially making my day. Kinda needed that.
How do you know that they traditionally overfill the class? I didn’t see that in the link you sourcedI don't mean to be the downer here, but UVA traditionally overfills the class which is why the waitlist isn't moving (spoken as someone on the IS waitlist *cries*). Their own website says that we likely won't see movement until late June because the class is overbooked and that 10-12 people will leave the waitlist at that point. Source; Alternates | Admissions
Would love to hear that I'm wrong, though.

Don't wanna be a debbie downer here, but I also do remember them saying that they traditionally offer a lot more As than they plan to have. I remember from a webinar that I attended that they are very specific in their class size of 156 so once the number of filled seats dips below that in June they then usually take 10-12 people off the WL.
Exactly like chz says, and you can see from the informal but dependable post-II acceptance tracker that they offer about 3.6x acceptances over matriculations for OOS students (since most IS students that get in will go).Don't wanna be a debbie downer here, but I also do remember them saying that they traditionally offer a lot more As than they plan to have. Congrats on the papers! That's awesome! I don't see why you can't update them? They did mention sending grade updates when they occur, I feel like this is even more important. An update letter wouldn't make much difference now would it? I sent a very large one back in April but two articles that were pending at the time just got accepted (yay!) over the weekend.
I would send a short-and-sweet update mentioning those two pending articles are now accepted and perhaps a statement of intent if UVA is your #1. Idk how UVA's WL works but that's a significant update in my eyes and may increase your likelihood of an A.An update letter wouldn't make much difference now would it?
