So will there by a waitlist formed from the AL soon? Does anyone know if they'll tell us our quartile at least or something

I did my interview in early March. I was wondering if one you can tell me how long usually it takes to hear back from the school?

I interviewed on 10/22 and heard back on 12/3. They told me 6 weeks at my interview and it was exactly 6 weeks. I understand some people hear back sooner and others later though.

seems like both of us has been waiting for VCU and Albany 😀

Hahaha I got into Albany in January off the AL but I'm still on the threads cause now I'm bored. Definitely waiting for VCU - probably going to Albany if not VCU!
is it because of the school that you like VCU? or other non-academic reasons?

Is anyone else worried about the grading system here, and the fact that gross anatomy is done by prosection now due to COVID? I've been trying to contact the admin asking if they will change the anatomy format to allow first years to do their own dissections but haven't heard back. I also talked with a current student who says they have been trying to get admin to change the grading for a while with no success. I have other decisions to wait on but of my options right now, I'm leaning towards Albany. Does anyone, current student or otherwise, have any other info about these two things that may help? Thanks!

Does anyone know if they've started releasing the financial aid packages yet?

When y'all interviewed, when did you get the agenda email with the interview link and stuff? My interview is tomorrow and I still haven't gotten anything. I don't even know what time the interview is at...

Has anyone gotten in or is also applying with a C+? I graduated in bio with a 3.87 but I got a C+ my senior year in advanced anatomy and it’s making me want to die. Worried about it 😭

I have not heard anything back since submitting the app. Have they sent out any pre-II R? Does anyone know if they will still be sending II?

I interviewed recently and I can tell you with 95% certainty that they are done. The info session I attended was the second from last so I'd be surprised they still have II to send.

Aren't they only doing an alternate list this year? I thought in previous years they had Under Consideration and then from there you could get on the alternate list sometime in May, which was basically like a more condensed waitlist?

Not sure why the change was made or whether that means they interviewed less people or something?

Kinda worried myself since I interviewed in early October and got on the alternate list in early December...and from the past I feel like most people who got off the alternate list in late April/May were people who had later interviews. So maybe they'll just forget about me or something...or I could be completely wrong, who knows lol.
Yea, I said waitlist but I really meant last year's alternate list. I wasn't sure if maybe they just changed the name of the under consideration list to alternate list and then changed alternate list to waitlist this year if that makes sense. I'm not sure if the actual procedure changed. Also, I interviewed in September and was placed on AL in October so now I'm also worried haha.

Is there a forum or group for admitted students floating around somewhere?

Hi, i am a current MS1.

I felt the same way about prosection vs dissection before starting school and now that Im almost through my first year I can say with confidence that prosections have been a blessing!
You go in there and all the important structures are tagged for you. You dont have to spend 6 hours a week trying to dissect on your own. Ive also heard from upperclassmen who did their own dissections that it was always very time consuming and dependent on how much of a good job the other group assigned to the cadaver did. Meaning alot of times they had to first finish dissecting what the other group didn't and then start on their part. Prosections enable you to spend that time studying, doing research, seeing friends etc. if you REALLY want to dissect your own I believe there is an opportunity for that during the summer.

As for grading I know there are some people who would rather switch to strict P/F system but that would mean that anyone who gets below 70% would not pass. With the current system we go +/- 1.5 SD from the mean. Meaning if the class average was low you can get below 70% and still pass because the exam must have been hard for everyone. It does suck to have students who got +1.5 and -1.5 all get the same grade of Good but at the end of the day its just a bigger safety net for those struggling with a certain theme. I've also come to realize that even if you do outstanding in one theme it doesn't mean you'll do as well in another because they all bring their own unique challenges so sometimes having that extra safety net is not all that bad.

Basically, dont let these two things dissuade you from attending Albany med.

Also, aren’t they maybe switching the curriculum and P/F policy? During one of my group discussions they were talking about how they may be changing a lot next year and nothing has been finalized yet.
